  1. Well...my newly-released Holiday Bundle 360 is starting to hang...just after a month of purchase. I know it's not a Jasper unit, but it's simply pathetic that 360 consoles are still sucking to this very day. Despite the excellent line-up of games, the 360 is simply the worst console of all in terms of hardware. Even my age-old n64 and SNES still work today. And to those who are wondering; this is my 3rd 360. And no, I can't send it to MS 'cause I don't live in the US. It all depends on the warranty from the shop I've bought it from. People have suggested that console hangs are due to the hard drive...and I'm starting to suspect it a bit 'cause I'm using an old 20 GB hard drive from my first 360 with the Arcade one I have now. Then again, with all these problems we've been hearing from these days...particularly ones that come with those who downloaded NXE...anything's possible. I wonder if any of you people are going though the same thing. Old hard drives on new 360s? Problems with the latest NXE update?
  2. Thinking of downloading the MGS pack as well. Paint ball gun sounds like a cool addition.
  3. Wow...Fire vs. Ice month. That was such a cool compo. I remember how huge it was back then. Can't remember this remix in particular, though. Either way, excellent job in re-working it for OCR. One of the coolest tunes in DKC2, indeed. Loving the energy. Loving the guitars. We need more tunes submitted from Fire vs. Ice month. Norg's "Black Ice" Chill Penguin remix would be great for OCR!
  4. Man...the latest Wii installment in the long running series might have some stylized cartoon graphics, but the soundtrack is out of this world. I hear it's from the same dude who composed from Mystical Ninja 64. Lots of jazz, blues, funk, and some pop thrown into the mix. A lot of the tracks have this nice live sound thanks to the electric guitars. Additionally, the composer is smart enough to continuously integrate part of the "WarioWare" victory motif in different ways. Would be nice to see some of these tracks remixed for the site. If you want to listen to the OST, PM me.
  5. Wow...it's kind of sad that I haven't heard of you until now. I don't buy a lot of EA games, ones from Tiburon included. Good luck on whatever you're pursuing, man. Hope it's closely related to composing for games 'cause I'd like to keep an eye on your future works.
  6. Loving this. Very catchy. Would've made a nice in-game alternative to Red Cyclone. Nice guitar sounds as well...the first minute and half really reminds me of a lot of Motoi Sakuaraba and the music of Mega Man X SNES series, especially when the guitar comes in.
  7. Makes me wonder why didn't the band submit this instead of the instrumental. Don't get me wrong; the instrumental is still as addictive as ever to me. But the vocals version is just beyond cool!
  8. http://thegrammarclub.com/Files/The%20Grammar%20Club%20-%20Red%20Cyclone%20(vocal%20version).mp3 I just realized that there was a vocal version...despite Dave mentioning it in the write up awhile back. Excellent vocals. Loving it a lot more than the instrumental. Care to give me the lyrics, Shael?
  9. Just listened to the soundtrack. Awesome stuff man. Love how you cover a variety of styles here, even chiptune. "The Lovely Bobo" sounds very J-pop with its tempo and female vocals. My favorites were: "Pompus Club Theme", "Benson's Aria", "Go, Go Golden Robo Q", "Mystic Monocle", "Cake or Death", and "Heavy Metal". The electric guitar playing is awesome, especially in Golden Robo. Pompus has some hilarious vocals...and Benson's Aria surprised the hell out of me with the singing. Loved the vocals on that one. Is the vocalist singing Italian or what? I'm curious about the lyrics and was wondering if you can provide them (including the English translation). Finally, Mystic's Middle Eastern sound is spot-on. All in all, I never expected a game like this to have such a versatile soundtrack. Can't wait to play it. I'm also curious if this is the first game you worked on as a composer or are there others?
  10. Wow... Valkyrie Profile doesn't get enough love in this site, but I'm so happy that you remixed two of my favorite tracks from the OST. Excellent work. You channeled Sakuraba and Mitsuda quite well here. Gotta agree with Soundscape's write up; the acoustic guitar playing the background really reminds me of Town of Twilight from Shadow Hearts 2...if only someone remixes this track... Keep up the good work!
  11. Never heard of the game...until now that is. How great that the composer himself hyped me up to actually check this game out once it's released next year. After doing some research, gameplay seems really unique with the whole platformer/puzzler mash-up. Anyway, I'm downloading the ZIP right now. Nice of EA to provide the soundtrack. I'm listening to the track that's playing in the site right now...very well-made, and the vocals are downright hilarious. CAPITAL! lol...classic.
  12. @Kizyr None taken. Constructive criticism is great stuff. Thanks for all the feedback, everyone. This'll most likely stay in the WIP vault for now.
  13. I guess now is the time to start asking "Who's next?"...which sucks. Looks like Midway's going to get killed very soon...
  14. Gotta agree with you there. TimeSplitters was such a unique series. The humor and characters are absolutely hilarious. Gameplay was tight as well. Sad to see such a great developer die so suddenly just because of one flop. If only they focused on the new TimeSplitters and canceled Haze... Oh well, I hope the new company that rises from its ashes gets to work on something soon. It's too bad that we won't see the new TimeSplitters, though.
  15. Congrats to you both! Looks like Blind's thread gave you the courage to announce this. I remember finding out about you two dating through VGDJ...giving hints and stuff. Good times. Curious, was that New York meet-up the same one which you guys made "Lover's Reef"? 'cause the picture has the same people responsible for this remix... Speaking of pics, the 2nd one is cute.
  16. Well...I discovered someone who's not exactly famous, but a critically-acclaimed film composer. Clint Mansell. The only work I was actually familiar with was in Requiem for a Dream and his compositions immediately stood out to me. Eventually, the motif from that movie got so popular lots of other movie trailers used it. I remember watching The Fountain a year ago but didn't really focus on its soundtrack. Recently, I rediscovered the OST and think that it's one of the best, if not the best, film compositions of all time. Awesome stuff.
  17. LOL. That video was HILARIOUS. You guys seem very calm in your wedding. I like that. Congrats to you both.
  18. Nice stuff. Wish I knew some free and legal game soundtracks available for download. Of course, there's the recently-released SFIIHD Remix OST by OCR... Anyway, I'm going to check out Grim Fandango's soundtrack as soon as I can. I hear fans really enjoy it.
  19. This is kind of freaky. I discovered how awesome Romancing Saga's soundtrack is just a couple of days ago...and upon listening to tracks like "Passionate Rhythm" and "Prelude to Battle", I thought how awesome would those be if Sixto remixed them. Even though it's not the source tune I wanted, glad someone actually tackled this niche soundtrack for once. I can't recognize the source, but I'm loving the remix. Guitars rock as usual, and ToN has a really cool style. Love that chiptune-y part with the guitars. Still think someone should tackle those tracks I mentioned.
  20. I just noticed that Jose's Vega track in-game has an awesome acoustic guitar part in the intro while the downloadable track doesn't. Also, Sixto's Ken stage has a missing electric guitar riff during one of the transitions that's present in the download version.
  21. Just got a reply from Hale that he's not interesting in submitting for the time being. So this'll most likely stay here just for feedback. I also asked him to link the instrumental version for us as soon as he can...so be on the lookout in this thread. Thanks for the comments so far, people. Keep 'em coming.
  22. Yeah, it's not for everyone as I've mentioned before. Good thing you mentioned those points against the voice. Yeah, I have to admit that the voice sounds dry...I haven't figured out how to mix the vocals into the track perfectly yet. Maybe I need a better sound input to make the voice sound better...everyone has been recommending USB mics so I'd like to try those out. You're the first to mention that it's too loud compared to the track...I've experimented a lot and I still need to find the right balance between the vocals and the track...I wanted to be safe and make it sound a bit higher so that nothing gets drained from the guitars. Performance-wise, it's not the best in the world as well...still trying to get comfortable with singing.
  23. If I'm not mistaken, the people involved in VOCR3 told me about this through one entry. I need to check this out later.
