Hey, this week kicked my ass too and yet I still hopped on, albeit for not as late as I would have liked. Seeing the Hobbit the night before and coming in for work yesterday was brutal. I handed out a LOT of goodies last night though. A Strange Holiday Punch, Deadliest Duckling, Archimedes, Strange Scattergun, Strange Sticky Bomb Launcher, Strange Flamethrower, and one other item that escapes me...and also unleashed two Pile 'O Gifts. Next Friday I want to hold a snow map night - the only maps on the normal voting list will be snowy maps (e.g. cp_coldfront, koth_viaduct, pl_buzzards_canyon_xmas, cp_buzzards_canyon_xmas, etc.). If you know of any snowy custom maps you'd like the server to try out, link'em here or message me asap!

Looks like I didn't get close, although I did the middle one pretty early. I don't know about the run portion - I think 1 1/2 months ago I could have accomplished that, but I'm not really sure. My resolutions for 2013: 1. Get in better shape (did a marginal job this year) 2. Finish a marathon in under 4 hours.

OCR has been pretty amazing - I've met some great people over the years thanks to the community, and I have matured quite a lot in all of my years of frequenting the site. I appreciate what everyone has done, on the staff-side, and visitor side - each person has had an influence on the site's development. Most of all though, thanks to Dave for creating something truly lasting - most popular websites haven't lasted this long! The rise and fall of Myspace is predated by OCR if I remember correctly!

Seems like everything has gotten cheaper - the salvaged crates are ~$20 on the marketplace.

So I got in two wavs from Rockos and an about finished track from Phonetic Hero! Good stuff! We're moving closer to the end finally, it feels and sounds good . I also am willing to offer up To the Future to any takers:

I'm kinda curious what happened, but if no one wants to tell me that's ok too... So I won't be on tonight either - just too exhausted and too many chores to do. I'll definitely be on tomorrow though!

Alright, so while I have a bit of extra time (who would have thought?), I checked out a few custom maps. cp_ponyfortress_rc3 is actually a somewhat normal map, but I removed it due to its gigantic filesize. cp_bloodstained features something that should throw people off - blu being the defending team. It's a smallish map, probably worth a play. cp_broma we have played before - seems like an ok map every now and then, but maybe we have to play it again sometime since I don't remember the server thoughts about it last time. cp_busytown is a mirror 5 point CP map ala Granary, Badlands, Fastlane, etc. It's maybe most comparable to Granary in size, although not as much vertical. cp_desertfortress has its battlegrounds all in a prison-like fortress surrounded by desert - all of the fighting is on the complex though, so you don't ever set foot in sand. cp_area51_v4 is a bit confusing - I removed it since I suspect it won't be liked so much for multiple reasons. cp_dust_town_b2 has a hilarious mechanic to it - play the map to find out! I'll try testing out more maps each week, but those are some quick impressions.

Hands down, this is my favorite mix from the DKC 3 album - it is an unorthodox song in its own right, and pulls off the abstract ambient style off to great effect. Amazing job by all involved!

So this album is quite fantastic! Seems like the bar for albums keeps getting set higher in general these days. First, some of my favorite tracks - my absolute favorite on the album is NOT the mega David Wise collab for Spanish Jitters, but Beneath the Moonlight. That track features some excellent songwriting that isn't matched elsewhere in the album. Chasing Waterfalls is also similarly beautiful for me - I could keep these two songs looped all day and be happy. I am entertained by many of the other songs, which are solid all around. Heart of the Cave is probably my favorite of Rozovian's work I've heard so far. Corn-fed Kong is a solid relaxing listen. All Mixxed Up is a sweet zyko piece, Tangerine Fever is also similarly solid stuff, and Diggi Dis continues to put out great stuff as usual. HoboKa & Flexstyle have a surprisingly solid collab with Can't Boss Us Around (Robot Anarchists from Hell Mix) that I personally am attached to due to its similarity to the Research Lab music from Time Lord (which was also composed by David Wise amusingly enough). 'Til We Meet Again is a nice change of pace, and The Mighty Junglol amuses with the name but providing a solid romp. I can't really continue going down the list of the tracks...the album is just too solid all around! I enjoyed every minute of it, and I'm sure anyone who isn't closed minded should love it too!

Maverick Rising got 10 in its flood, counting the two tantalizers. I'll try to post my album thoughts tonight - I had been one of the evaluators, so I've listened to the album quite a lot beforehand.

For the record, I have no clue who had problems with it - I was not told of anything.

I will be sure to bring some sangria this time in return for last MAGFest!
