CMC - Conceptual Music Competition 23: Aqueous Nocturne
Zephyr replied to Abadoss's topic in Competitions
I pretty much started with almost all of them as honorable mentions, Forced myself down to just 3, but everybody did a great job. -
I'm interested, but no PC demo:?

I think you're looking in the wrong places, most good "real" sounds are actually real, recorded sounds (called samples) they're often organized and played using a sampler. Soundfonts are collections of these sounds and are a good alternative to buying a library. Soundfonts are everywhere, but here's a good place to get started:http://soundfonts.homemusician.net/ You'll need a soundfont player too, I recommend soundfonter. (http://www.sanusart.com/SoundFonter_VSTi.zip) Also see Darkesword's soundfont page, maybe someone else has the url.

Provided you got the downloaded version and not the boxed one, but I don't know ANYBODY who would get the boxed one, it costs more and you get less.

Agreed, I'd recommend the producer edition too, it's a fully functional version and the only thing you gain from going XXL is some wimpy (although often still useful) synths (simsinth, dx-10) however sytrus really is quite nice. If you decide to upgrade later it's always an option, but if you're even slightly interested in making music I wouldn't go any lower than producer edition either. Any lower and you lose audio, Edison (an audio editor) pattern clips, AND Automation clips. Here's a promo link if you want 10% off. http://affiliate.image-line.com/BDJJJAJ495 [/shamelessplug]

OCR TF2: New Server forthcoming - new server IPs and other stuff
Zephyr replied to Bahamut's topic in General Discussion
Hopefully we can all just join in and have a good time, throw on some alltalk for a few maps and just laugh as we run around killing each other (in an attempt to win of course) I also think that for the password we might as well just post it up here, I mean anyone on the forums deserves to be there anyways, and if someone actually does look it up on the forum just to join a private server with a bunch of people they don't know we can just kick them anyways. No need to complicate things with PM's -

Should be fun, count me in. I'll send Powerlord 300 PM's to ensure my own invitation. Oh, and blue123, depo007 played in the server fairly often with a ping averaging around 999 and he still kept playing. -

If this is a democracy then I'm a definite vote AGAINST a server lockdown. We definitely don't have enough OCR guys to survive in a private server, and then things would end up being a whole lot more serious. Besides, the OCR people still have a blast playing with each other with public people around, (at least I do, perhaps even moreso). Also lol at SpaghettiO's -
It's up to FL 8 now, and if you go into the projects folder (I think it's the default path for opening a project) there is a folder called "Cool Stuff" There's a bunch of projects in there that come with FL.

Looking for a remixer to help with development project
Zephyr replied to Johannes_von_Luck's topic in General Discussion
Very important point right there, most people around here are really skeptical about any projects actually coming to completion, and for good reason too as VERY few actually do get finished. I'm not certain, but I'd imagine you're going to have to prove that this is going to finish before getting too many applicants. Also, since this is an indy game for an iphone I can't imagine you'd need too much music ahead of time right? -
OCR TF2: New Server forthcoming - new server IPs and other stuff
Zephyr replied to Bahamut's topic in General Discussion
To be honest I would rather be having fun playing a game than being good and winning the games, however as it happens those to goals often coincide. If the entire server is in an alltalk-no grav-melee only mode that's just peachy with me and I'll join right in on it. I agree that there has to be some balance between competitive play and fooling around, but I think that most of us are taking all of this too seriously. Just get out there and play the game, have some fun, and try to get better. -

Good games everyone, had a good time. Reset is really good. -
OCR TF2: New Server forthcoming - new server IPs and other stuff

I'm a witness, they received multiple warnings and they kept doing it. With three perpetually ubered medics running around the game got a lot less fun. It's an effective strategy, but so is sticky spawn camping. I don't think we should allow it in the future, at least not for 2 maps straight. -
ORC 114: Off the rails [Result and see ya for 2009]
Zephyr replied to Doulifée's topic in Competitions
Wow this source reminds of the Megaman X. Good job on the midi. -
Games & the Uncanny Valley: yet ANOTHER lecture by me
Zephyr replied to sephfire's topic in General Discussion
I'm really enjoying and actually learning from these videos, I still love the Yahtzee style too. Keep up the good work, and for the record I hadn't heard of the valley either. -
OCR TF2: New Server forthcoming - new server IPs and other stuff
Zephyr replied to Bahamut's topic in General Discussion
All this talk reminds me, I have to get around to paying my dues for the next few months sometime soon... It would be sweet if we could do a gravity vote though, and while I can see it being annoying if it was abused, I imagine it would be hard to abuse if it has to be done through a vote. Really isn't a big deal for me though, see you on the server tonight! -
You guys are missing the point methinks... Most of us, or at least me, are interested in this because it's a cheap portable synthesizer and song writing machine. It'll be like a sketchpad for taking down ideas and stuff, and just something to fool around with. I wouldn't use it as an instrument in any mixes or anything.

Found proof, couldn't have been a better example... ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVrBEgWQ5p8

CMC - Conceptual Music Competition 23: Aqueous Nocturne
Zephyr replied to Abadoss's topic in Competitions
I actually contributed my part this round, its up to YOU whoever is reading this to get your mixes in! -
I'm almost positive you can set it up on a playlist (like FL Studio) but you also have the option to use that sort of "live mode". I've heard good things about it and'll probably be picking it up as soon as I can.

Looks great to me, and also, there's people in the server right now and it's still midday! Maybe the server will start to be more active now. -
I second Orange box and fifth TF2.

Those are easily achieved by taking a crash cymbal sample and reversing it, if you want the crash at the end then just play the un-reversed sound right after the reversed one. Not sure if it really has a name though, I'd call it a reverse cymbal. Good luck! EDIT: Argh, tensai beat me to it.

Midi's generally do that, they have tempo data embedded in them. Easy fix though, when in the pattern that the midi is on, right click the tempo LCD, choose "edit events". Now click edit>Delete all in the menu. That should stop it from automatically changing back. If you have any other troubles just let us know. Hope that helps.
