  1. Just to let you all know. You can now download all of my music, including Mors Ego Sum Mortis, and Fuga Kefka, at 320kbs from my website: http://www.soundclick.com/orenproductions I hope you enjoy! -Derek-
  2. This is it people!!! We've officially finished the piece and are putting together a submission package as we speak. We're very excited about this and we hope that you all enjoy it! This is definitely the best and most professional piece of music we've ever put together so I'm pumped. Thanks for all your patience and look for "Devotion & Deception" on a OCR frontpage near you! Your friendly composer, -Derek-
  3. very cool take on the theme. good job so far. I look forward to your progress. -Derek-
  4. Thanks for the comment. The piece that we've done is VERY different than the original and I'm sure that if you want details Jeremy would be happy to tell you why it's different. The part that we released is the first 2 minutes of the first half. The second half is nothing at all like the song itself. It's completely original but stays true to the "feel" of Final Fantasy VIII. Direct post is what we're hoping for so hopefully you guys "the judges" will enjoy it. What I was worried about was exposure. Being that OCR just came out with another project one would say that it would bring traffic to the site which would be good but on the other hand if ours did get DP'd then how long would it be on the front page before being buried by the project releases? It happened to people when the FF7 project came out so thats all I'm saying. Thanks again for the post. -Derek-
  5. I knew right away that it was a garritan since I use the stradivari violin and it has similar qualities. Very nice cello work here. I wasn't expecting this from a Doom soundtrack Good job .. really. -Derek-
  6. Ok well it looks like we're pretty much done with this. we should be submitting to the judges in the next couple days. Jeremy and I are very happy with it. but I'm struggling because OCRemix just released the doom project. I'm wondering if I should wait?.. Any suggestions? Thanks! -Derek-
  7. Yes I can understand that. The same thing happens on my computer: 3.6 gig p4, 4 gig ram, 32 bit system. I may be able to give you some tips but first tell me what sequencer you are using: Cakewalk, Cubase, etc.... Also tell me what sample loader you're using: Kompakt player, Kontakt2, Gigastudio, etc..
  8. lol yeah .. I hear the Canadians like that sort of thing right now
  9. Happy Birthday David!! Have a beer for me!!
  10. Yes there will be two halves. The first half we wanted the instruments to be close mic'd and legato. We were going for more of a chamber orchestra type of sound. The second half will be a bigger ensemble. More "movie" like in it's style. I don't doubt that there will be a demo of the second half as well when we get it done. Thank you for your comments. -Derek-
  11. Ok everyone here is our first demo release. It's about 2 minutes from the first half. We hope you enjoy it and please comment. -Derek- Devotion Download Link
  12. oh man.. we're gettin' close now peoples just finished the woodwinds and the choir for the first half. now just a little tinkering with the horns and trombones and we'll release about a 2 minute clip. It should be either tonight or tomorrow.
  13. Hey Antelucan, I have sections I could release but I'm just not happy with them yet. I don't want to give you guys a beta of the actual song. When I finish up the first half and master it, then I'll release a clip from it. I know it's taking a while but good things take time I guess. Thanks for understanding
  14. Ok so I'm back in business and my computer is back to the way it was before the big crash. Before this happened I was trying very hard to get the certain sound I was looking for in the first part. It's more intimite and small compared to the last 3 or so minutes of the piece. I'm still very excited about this and I do hope that we'll be finished with it soon as it's been a long time in the making. Thanks for your patience. -Derek-
  15. I wish I could.. my computer crashed on Friday... I am currently rebuilding it from stratch.... it'll be a few days before I can even give you a preview but I'll have to ask Jeremy too as it's a colab. Thanks for askin' tho.
  16. I've finally gotten the string sound I wanted so I'm finishing up part1 of the piece. Everything is sounding pretty good.
  17. The samples are good quality but same samples are used again and again. The brass cresendos are way over used. No real key changes but if movie music is what you were going for I guess it would work. Just tone down the low brass cresendos on your next piece. Other than that good job. -Derek-
  18. UPDATE I got word today that it will be quite some time before our piece is even judged so I'm putting a HQ download link here for you to be able to listen to it now. You can comment on it in this forum section but please also comment in the main section when it's formally released. Thank you for all your patience and enjoy Devotion & Deception! Devotion & Deception 320KBS Or you can stream it at 128kbs by visiting my webpage: Oren Productions
  19. Hello all! I know it's been quite a while since Fuga was first posted but I wanted to finally give the link for the HQ version. This version is basically the same as the other except it doesn't have the glitches the other hq had before so here you all go. Fuga Kefka HQ
  20. well well I have to say I was impressed with this. It sounds like it was made with either ewql silver xp pro or gold xp pro. The orchestration was perfect in everyway. The one downfall though was the brass. Low was fine but the trumpet (except for the end) and the french horn were very odd sounding. I'm not saying it was bad but you could definitely tell it was synthed. Now all that being said, I don't think it takes away from the enjoyment of the piece. I find myself listening to this alot. I have it on my flash drive and I always seem to be playing it. Very awesome accomplishment. We should team up and do a colaboration piece or something -Derek-
  21. I like this piece. (keep in mind I'm a perfectionist) I'm assuming that EWQL was used or it sure sounded like it. I heard the brass in certain places sound kinda (machine gun'ish) at times. With EWQL you should use RR or Round Robin staccato samples to improve that in future arrangements. Other than that it's an awesome rendition of a great theme. Very nice job indeed -Derek-
