  1. I agree about the energy - and the headphone issue too. This track has sort of "garage" production - at first I didn't like it so much, but then it somehow just clicked, it sounds right. The transitions between different original material are indeed very "medley". It makes the whole sound undeveloped. There are a lot of good ideas, but they don't get to shine so much. The second section is quite great. The beginning solo bass sounds really nice to me. I'd love a "full" ReMix developed from that part. I also grabbed the Megaman 2 soundtrack from 8-bit Instrumental's homepage, and I really enjoy tracks 11-13 - the password piece is among them. --Eino
  2. I like it. Terrific sound. I kinda wish it was shorter and packed more punch each change/buildup. I get a bit of a similar vibe as Palpable's In Pieces did for me. Yeah, this is definitely a keeper. --Eino
  3. Ah yeah, I hear you. Fantastic moment. I also love the NES drums at the start. The fadeout isn't that bad. To me it sounds like this monster of a piece leaving the scene to wreak havoc on somebody else. --Eino
  4. Pretty nice work. I like the liberties with the flute lead around 1:50-2:15, that's beautiful stuff. I like the bass and drums too. I wouldn't mind if the mix had taken a bit more time to develop certain transitions. The intro for example - I could've taken a few more bars establishing the mood and have the melody enter a bit later than right at the start. Another point is around 03:00 - the Angel's Fear theme begins a couple of bars too soon. But that's just me - other people probably appreciate getting straight into business. I'll be keeping this one, it's a good mix of some of my favourite originals. --Eino
  5. This one is definitely not to my tastes, but it obviously hits the spot it was going for. I thought the harmonica was great. The modulation made it very intresting - a "straight" harmonica solo might have been way too saccharine. This track is pretty loud, I had to dial it down a couple of notches when it came up among some other tracks I've been listening to. --Eino
  6. Excellent stuff.. Wonderful vocal tone especially. And the lyrics! The sensitive subject material is treated with dignity and flair. Two thumbs up, up, up up..
  7. Masterful mix. Unforced, even while so much is happening. High tempo electronica, but still calm. I like AeroZ's FF5 tracks more, but that don't mean this wasn't a great, beautiful track. This played itself on repeat in my head for a few times just now so I had to sit down and listen to it. --Eino
  8. Despite the mentioned background-ness, and that I wouldn't mind if it had some "foreground" to it, I somehow enjoy this one as a stand-alone piece. Strings and synths combination is very tasty indeed. I also like how there seem to be different rhythms layered on top of another. I think those are why this works for me for focused listening. --Eino
  9. Had to play this five times in a row. Can't say I usually like the genre, but this track is great and I can't resist a good track. The 7/8 part is tres cool. --Eino
  10. The washing synths, great beats and basslines, lots of different exciting parts, this is a winner in my book. I can imagine how this improves over the original MOD. Totally unexpected and unique style from what I've yet heard on OCR. --Eino
  11. Solid, fun, enjoyable track! And I've even played the game a little bit!
  12. Excellent orchestral intro and a lovely transition to the electronics. The first snare sounds a bit out of place.. but I can't quite pinpoint what's "wrong" with it. It sounds a bit too "thick". Don't know if that helps. Otherwise, very enjoyable and effortless sounding. --Eino
  13. Quirky arrangement! It's well thought out, whole and complete. I like! Keep working on the production side of things - we'll all be rewarded with some good tracks I think! --Eino
  14. Whoa... first off, the guitar/keyboards/whatisit?! in the choruses sound AMAZING. An incredible wall of sound. I like it. You make a good question about the bass. Having the bass stay in one place while the chords change is an effect I really like. But you don't have to do that all the time, you could do that for half a chorus, or do it in one of the choruses in the song.. experiement! About the bass as it is now, I think the fill sounds better as "A-E-F-G-A" than the "A-E-F#-G-A" you have now. I guess the bass is in major key and it should be in minor key. Or something, I know next to nothing about theory. --Eino
  15. ..pass me some more of that octotonic shit.. Ahh, what a fine, thick piece of madness. I definitely like. The main lead sound is thankfully not omnipresent, it's a bit tiring to listen to constantly, but there are breaks from it and anyway, what is played is some wicked stuff indeed. And I don't mean that it's bad in itself. Maybe a bit more guitar tone variation could have been there, but not a major complaint. I can see what the drum complaints are about.. I like most of it, but especially the first part below that big guitar solo it's both too simple and too loud. Some quick but fairly quiet hihat runs for instance would have been better than frequency-hogging constant cymbal bashing, in my opinion. The second part is actually a bit like what I'm talking about, but less subtle. I do kinda love that bashing cymbal sound, but at the same time it's one of the sounds that gives it a bit mechanical feel - it sounds the same all the time. Some (volume, ...) variation there could have been good. But hey, that's a lot of nitpicking since overall I thoroughly enjoy this arrangement, and also the sound! It's evil and thick and yet not overbearing. --Eino
  16. Wonderfully rough and dirty.. Don't like that loud wah-wah guitar line, but otherwise it holds together well. Versatile sounds! I definitely enjoy the roughness of the guitars blended with the organs. Most of the time the "band" sounds sound more like a garage band than a home studio effort, which is good. --Eino
  17. Heh, it's funny how the beginning could lead into Chrono Trigger's 600AD theme quite easily.. Anyway.. impressive, evocative! I'm totally unfamiliar with the original, yet I'm sure this one does it great justice. I'm not a big fan of piano arrangements, but this is a track that might just open that door for me and show me how to appreciate solo piano some more. --Eino
  18. A well executed and refreshing take on a well-loved original. My favourite moment has to be 01:55-02:00 where it somehow feels that the theme is moving.. sideways. I like the long final chord too. --Eino
  19. Very solid take on the Quick Man theme. The main lead could have used some more fire, and the unintelligblity of the vocal sample does bother me a bit, but the tightness of the rhythmical work makes up for all that. And those giant lasers! --Eino
  20. I like the sounds, and the general feel of this mix, but don't think the transitions in the middle are good enough.. I wish this segued better. The sound is amazing and works great with the source material. Very uniquely, in fact. I'll be keeping this, although I feel it's seriously flawed by that middle part. Or maybe it'll grow on me, we'll see! --Eino
  21. Ahh, I love that bass. Slithery, bouncy, nicely distorted. Don't like those choppy solo strings. You can hear the volume drop out as if into vacuum when a new note starts playing with that too-long attack.. Gneh. Also, the static at the start doesn't really sound super-good to me, sounds kinda digital to me instead of warm vinyl popping. The broken compression has been mentioned, quite uggly ripples there.. Overall, a pretty good cinematique track. Doesn't manage to profoundly grab me, though. Love the bass, still. --Eino
