  1. Heh. I wanna say I finished this song something like two and a half years ago or somewhere near there. I've gotten a lot better, re: criticism on the low-end mixing. However, I've still got a soft spot for this song, and I'm glad it's getting some love on the front page!
  2. Do you use Spotify? If so, give the album a listen or some stars or something here!
  3. If there's a MAGWest, I have to be there. Been wishing for a good west-coast con for a while now.
  4. I do most of my mixing on my Beyerdynamic DT880 Pro headphones, and then usually do mastering on my studio monitors. I tend to get pretty close, though, and I'm pretty sure there are several artists in this community who use headphones nearly exclusively as well, and they've managed to put out stellar tunes. Of course, you'll always want to check your mixes on other speakers (car stereos tend to bring out the worst in my mixes ), but getting a really good pair of headphones would probably be a completely worthwhile investment. EDIT: Along the lines of what Darangen said, I'm not really sure you need to move away from Live. It's a very competent piece of software, too.
  5. I'd recommend you get Logic. It's got a bit of a learning curve, but it's an insanely powerful piece of software and you can do so much with it. You might be able to get some good headphones at that price, too, but I don't think I could comfortably recommend buying monitors with that money. I have some fairly inexpensive monitors ($450 for the pair when I bought them), but they're complemented by a good, prosumer sound card ($200) as well as a subwoofer ($300) and crossover ($200) in order to mask their deficiencies. Definitely not cheap.
  6. lolbrandon. I guess by "couldn't care less" I mean I'm completely indifferent to the DMC series, not that I dislike the game or anything. Just not particularly interested in playing it.
  7. Yeah, I honestly couldn't care less about the game, but the soundtrack is TASTY thus far.
  8. Noisia is the awesomes. Haven't had time to sit down and listen to the soundtrack yet, but it's in my Spotify list. Can't wait to hear it. EDIT: Quantify this and maybe you won't come off all pretentious, eh?
  9. I'm completely okay with unbridled praise directed at the One Hour Conquistadors. Just saying.
  10. Thanks guys! And yeah, don't feel bad about putting a 0 in the pay field--I just want you to have and enjoy the music!
  11. Alright, I went ahead and released it because I didn't want to wait any longer. It's out! Artists who contributed include bLiNd, DjjD (Jakesnke17), Ben Briggs, halc, JR (TheGuitahHeroe), and Hollidayrain. SO MUCH OF MY LOVE TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED.
  12. I'm gonna have to buy a 3DS of some sort, now, aren't I? Bother, I didn't want to have to give up my good ol' DS Lite. Ah well, looks like it's gonna be a really nice-looking game.
  13. I really think we should allow SliceX as well, since it's included with the Producer edition, but that's just my $0.02.
  14. I tend to work quickly, or at least I have the ability to do so. Messaged you, Simon!
  15. Aww, what the heck. I may regret this with school starting up, but I'll go ahead and sign up. Caveat: Novices, you'll get MUCH better use out of me if you own FL Studio 10.
  16. Look into using a multi-out patch. I'm sure Kontakt can do this, but since I don't own it I couldn't walk you through doing it. Basically, you can select each part of the drum set as going through a separate channel--hopefully someone else more familiar with this scenario than I am can chime in.
  17. Hey man, I gotta say I really appreciate your putting the time in to review every track on the DKC3 album. If you're looking to learn a bit more about electronic genres, this is as good a place as any to start. It's a bit outdated, but you'll get mostly everything up through about 2004 or so, I'd say. http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/

  18. Is there any way to download everyone's FLPs, as well? I want to see how people made what I'm listening to. EDIT: Never mind, I'm a dummy.
  19. I have EWQL Platinum Plus, and I've really loved what I've been able to use thus far. Just my $0.02.
