  1. What Skryp said, although I should elaborate and say that one of the best ways to grow as an artist here on OCR's forums is to take part in some of the competitions. You'll get a lot of feedback, become part of the community, and that way you'll have people who WANT to help you improve as an artist. Also, the Workshop forums are a great place to get feedback, too. But yeah, basically just keep doing it and trying to find ways to improve. It's taken me 7 years to get to where I'm at, and I already had a technical AND a musical background to begin with.
  2. I listened to this album like three times yesterday, and can safely say that I fully endorse these sounds!
  3. In my defense, this is my favorite OST of all time. So I think I'm entitled to a bit o' emotion. Again, fantastic work!
  4. I'm a big fan of my Akai MPK49, which has decent action, tons of built-in arpeggiator features, is built like a tank, all the knobs and buttons you could wish for, and even includes some drum pads for that sort of thing. They do also make a 61-key version with even more bells and whistles.
  5. Mine's pretty basic: I try to be flexible in the styles of music I create. May end up using different aliases for different styles at some point, but this is my main "brand name," as it were.
  6. Not sure why my track's still green--you both have the last thing I sent in, I'm sure of it.
  7. I hear these are pretty cool: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01996/ http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02543/ http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02371/ http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02303/
  8. If someone else wants my track, tell 'em to go for it. I still plan on doing it, but I'm not going to have any WIP in by the 1st.
  9. I actually can't stand Big Bad Koopa or Forrest, and I enjoy dubstep when it's done right. Those are both produced terribly, though. Dubstep can be redeemed on the strength of melodics, production, or both, preferably.
  10. I didn't want to make Glitch too big of a focal point; just wanted to use enough to throw some texture in there. Good ear!
  11. Yeeeeeaaaaahhh buddy, this is gonna be a good one. Also, not only will there be a panel at this event, but I'll be spinning a DJ set after the main attractions of the expo are finished--can you say MAD AWESOME AFTERPARTY?
  12. 1. Pikachu 2. Mudkip 3. Saren. I have played literally none of the games listed aside from the ones containing the characters in my selection.
  13. Found some time yesterday to sit down and at least put an endcap on my WIP, so DusK has a link to my final wav right now.
  14. I should also point out that OCR will be running a panel at the GAME Expo in Reno on June 1st, as well. (link to expo site)
  15. Heh, I'd totally be down to do that, but I suspect the panel is going to be perhaps a bit more subdued than my brand of frenetic headbanging and hand-waving that tends to occur when I'm doing a set. Now, if there were some way to do some kind of after-expo set or somesuch, that would be quite interesting indeed. And I promise I'd be more in-practice at that point, too.
  16. Yeah, the transitions were not good in most places. In my defense, I hadn't actually had time to practice, so there's that. Still, it was a lot of fun! That said, I'm a bit surprised that it's gotten so many dislikes on youtube. Twice as many of those as likes. Was it really that bad?
  17. ahh balls, I tried to PM you as well, but apparently that bounced. The short version is that I don't think I'll be ready to go within this week, at least, due to sister getting married and some other stuff.
  18. I'm listening to it right now, and I really, really like it. Yeah, it's repetitive, but that's Daft Punk for you. The entire thing just flows together SO WELL, and it's so smooth...it's really good.
  19. So, just in case you guys have a hankering to watch me flail my arms around like a madman and play some of my remixes (including a couple of unreleased FF6 mixes!) at a show, I thought I'd for ya. The audio quality is not good, since it was recorded on my phone, and the lighting isn't the best ever, but this is what happens when you tell me to show up and play music for people. Hope you dig it, sloppy transitions and all!
  20. Mokram, did you and Dusk get my PM? I think I fall under the category of cruel, cruel people at this point. >_>
  21. I think I could manage something like that pretty thoroughly.
