I know the rapping is a little fast & unclear for everyone (though much clearer than my last track's vocals), but I have to give him some major props for the vocals - he did these in an evening, then sent me edits the night before submission when I asked. He really pulled through with the rap, so he gets major props from me.

I'm pretty sure they got Locke covered, man, don't worry. Just because people in the competition didn't cover it doesn't mean that someone else didn't come out and agree to do the track on their own.

I'll give this a listen tonight when I can. I don't agree that a repetitive source would be used against him on the panel, though - they'd judge it like any other source. It's just tough to pull it off convincingly without becoming too liberal, is all. Like I said, I'll give this a listen later today. EDIT: I gave it a listen - it's pretty recognizable, no worries on that front. The production and soundscape does sound pretty empty overall, though. The pads are pretty skimpy, the strings don't have enough strength or humanization, and it gets a little repetitive. It captures the spirit quite nicely, though.

The logistics of what you're suggesting is insane. Shipping, getting in touch with people, printing costs, etc., would not only cost a restrictive amount of money if we were to do this for even half of the signed members of the website, it would take a great deal of the time from the people that work here (as in "We would need to dedicate more time to it than our jobs would allow"). What you're asking isn't feasible, so it isn't going to happen. Sorry, bro - only those contributing are going to get the said rewards.

I said that the arrangement suffers from either being too long or from taking a style of form that doesn't lend to longer music without sounding like it's wandering (note that the structure you noted never really has any parts that repeat - that's what's leading to the 'meandering' feel that I'm hearing). 0:47-1:13 and 2:14-2:40 are the only parts that really connect the piece together (where you mention you brought back the Wasp material). More moments like this where you bring back older material would help this along immensely, as it gives the song some coherence. Or you can shorten it down to four minutes, or something; as I said before, you can take either approach and make what I believe is a needed change, so I don't think I'm pigeonholing you too much. That's my observation on it, though - if you'd like, you can request another mod to take a look at it. Musical form isn't a hard science, so they might see it differently than I do.

Hey you voted for me. You're awesome, lol. *Ahem* Got business to do, eh? MOD REVIEW I really enjoy the meshing of the themes in this. It simply all fits together as perfectly as one could hope - so much Wasp Planet and Emerald Hill and Solo and... Schala (2:40)? You like that theme almost as much as I do! It's subtle, yet fitting. The soundscape is great, but it feels quiet in comparison to other tracks on OCR. You'll want to increase the volume of this one, overall - the mix itself is fine, just raising the master volume or adding a limiter should be enough (not too much limiter, though - the production is clean in this, and we wouldn't want to lose that). Otherwise, it's a hint weak in the deepest part of the bass, too - perhaps raise the low end a touch, too. As I mentioned before, I like the meshing themes. It sounds directionless, though - is there a form to this track, or is it a stream of thought? I'm all for a stream of thought, but if you want a track to last 5-6+ minute, you'll need to create a coherent form to follow - don't be afraid to bring back older material from the track to create coherence and structure in a song. If you want to keep the stream of thought style arrangement to the track, that's fine - but it'll need to be shorter, then. One or the other, I think in it's current state it sounds like it drags and meanders too much for the panel. It's a very nice arrangement with beautiful production. Raise the volume and fix up the arrangement a little bit and I think it'll be great for posting on OCR. Nice work!

No, it's not very expensive at all - it's actually very, very cheap, considering the people that will be working on it.

Amphibious' track is better balanced and better produced than my mix. My mix has a playful vibe to it, a more interesting arrangement (imho), a collaboration with the other mixers that I've had the pleasure of competing with before (even if it was just to help me get samples, most of them did help me in one way or another), and it pulls a Beethoven's 9th by mixing motives from the previous tracks (often directly). Mine sounds impressive on paper, but Amph's track really is considerably better mixed and balanced than mine. It's a pretty fair trade-off - if he wins then it'll be well deserved. I didn't take the final round sitting down myself, though.

It's looking great so far. Keep up the awesome work!

MOD REVIEW This is pretty neat. I like the rich pads and guitar (even the wobbly one - it seemed to fit stylistically). Overall the soundscape and production is solid. The arrangement works in the beginning. The second half of the track, though, is very similar to the first. You're going to need something more distinct for the second half if you want to turn this into OCR. The flute, while fitting for the style, sounds mechanical and non-realistic. It also tends to be a little behind the rest of the mix (especially when that bass drum hits). You're going to need to work with the volumes and attacks considerably on it to make that instrument work. You could alternatively get one of the members here to give it a shot, too - Syllix has a pan flute, for example, so maybe you can give him a ring? Very nice, and certainly close to the bar, as it is. I'd say make the second half of the arrangement more distinct from the first and fix up the flute and this'll be a postable mix.

Yeah, Rainbow Dash also does some guest vocals in it, as well, but she didn't want to be credited.

TECHNICALLY you can't hear Brandon's support to this, but he helped it along during the compositional process so I included him on here.Kingtiger did the raps, Syllix did the digeridoo, Prophecy did the deep non-vocoded voice + vomit and I did the bitchy voice + vocoded (as well as the arrangement, obviously).

Shit man, don't scare me like that. I need at least a few weeks of recovery/catch-up before I can join another compo, and this one is one I want to do...

Ooo shit, that's actually Prophecy, not Prophetic - my bad. He is the deep voice in the beginning and the vomit sound.

You should be excite. I've got to say this is the most entertaining track I've done for the compo. Maybe not the "best", production-wise (I'm only human - time limitations have held me back, I know there's some heat in this one because of it), but the most fun, easily. Submitting it now, by the way - no matter the outcome of this round, I'll let you know this was a blast. Lyrics will be up tomorrow, unless KingTiger wants to put them up early.
