  1. Seriously, these rounds that I'm lining up with have been seriously mistimed with my weeks. I'll get something in, though I only have about three nights to work on it (and by night I mean past 11pm D:). Fuck it, bring it on.
  2. Happy birthday, Mono! Hope your day is filled with awesomeness.
  3. Say it, eh? Nice name & track - looks like you named it after the voice program you use, lol.
  4. I'm pretty sure he doesn't mind more than the two given sources as long as the original two are clearly present. I mixed Schala as well as another source into my final WCRG track a/d DS didn't seem to mind then.
  5. Huh, well they must've changed it when I wasn't looking - there used to be a limit. Learn something new every day, I guess.
  6. Box isn't really an option for WAV files - there's an upload limit, for free users, and WAVs peak over it if they're over two minutes long.
  7. I've uploaded unpolished work before and have moved on in competitions before. If you have something to show for the week it's always better for everyone if it's shared. The voters know that these compos are under tight restrictions and hedge their opinions accordingly, so don't worry about saving face.
  8. This is very calming. It's different and refreshing. I'd like to see what more you have in store for this song.
  9. Very nice - I was likin' the 'Opposing Bloodlines' portion quite a bit, in particular.
  10. MOD REVIEW Alright, first thing I notice - it's just too heavily focused on the mid range of the EQ, and that's not going to fly. I don't think it's a specific instrument, as Rozo suspected, but a collective of all the instruments in the track. It feels like there's been both a low and high pass to the track; get some more highs and low end sound to this track by boosting some of the highs and lows of your samples, as appropriate, and perhaps lowering some of the mids, for the sake of balance. Ironically, it sounds like you DID have an intentional low/high pass in the beginning, which is cool - it just doesn't sound like it opens up after 0:08, like it should. Arrangement is still an issue - I'm hearing the repetition that Rozo pointed out earlier, and it does sound pretty conservative, save for the fact that splices two sources together. I won't go as far as to say it's jarring or medley-ish, however - you just need to be more daring with the material given. Break up the sources to it's components and see how you can mix and match them together, it'll help you make this your own. You'll need to make up for the repeated parts by adding new spins on the source anyway, as the track really won't be long enough otherwise, so invest some time experimenting with that. I take it you haven't gotten to it; you should probably reserve the Mod-Review for when you make every adjustment you're aware is needed. I won't stop giving critique on that account, but be aware of that prefix on your thread. I'd say that the drums still sound stale, but it MIGHT be the EQ issues that I was talking about earlier that's contributing to that. Some more TLC with the drum arrangement (perhaps some closed hat work?) would be nice, nonetheless. Hopefully my comments will help you out with this track. Best of luck on it.
  11. If it's not for OCRemix then yeah, Iceferno's absolutely right - there's no reason for it to change significantly from the source at all. That's unique to OCR, and unless he expresses plans to submit the track then there's no problem with conservative arrangements. I mean, going strictly from that standard Megadeth's cover of Duke Nukem' would also be 'too coverish', but if anyone denies that his cover was amazing I'd say that person was crazy. It's your arrangement; if you want to follow the source strictly, go ahead, there's nothing wrong with that. Don't be too defensive about your remix otherwise, though, Iceferno - aside from the 'too coverish' comments, the other posters have been correct. The reverb does take away from what is otherwise a very nice, bouncy cover of the source, so take that down a few notches. If I may add, the melody just sounds a little too thin to my taste, as well - perhaps adjusting the synth so the sustain is higher might do the trick, there. It's a fun, bouncy track that puts a smile on my face when I listen to it. I'll be happy to hear it some more if/when you make some tweaks to it.
  12. Classic source. I would suggest trying to fix the thin sounds using the instrumentation and such that's available rather than using compression. I can hear that the melodies tend to be buried behind the rest of the track, regardless, and the track sounds out of tune at around 1:08 - 1:24, so you should go back and fix those things, regardless. Nice track, though - there's always room for more Ogre Battle.
  13. Alright, sub'd. Not normally my style to be early, but this is my last opportunity to work on it this week, so... there ya go.
  14. I've been interested in making some 16-bit original music for some time now, so this site when it's up sounds like something that I'd be very interested in. Hope things work out for you in the end, and I hope things are squared away nicely with Shna, Prot and the others in good time.
  15. Got mine finished. I'll turn mine in tonight after a little production touch-up - I won't have access to anything for the rest of the week, so I didn't have too many options but to finish early.
  16. Happy birthday, d00d. Let's make sure all the artists make some kickass music for your Gunstar album, as a present for you.
  17. Yeah, Moseph already went over this, so I won't go into detail. However, I just wanted to add that I'm one of the forum members here that thinks that sight singing skills has saved me an incredible amount of time when in comes to writing music, and would actually encourage people to learn to do so, whenever they have the opportunity. The fact that I don't need to playback any music that I write down in order to know what it sounds like makes me very efficient, and this also allows people to write music whenever they please (rather than whenever they're in front of an instrument). Beethoven became deaf, but not before his sight singing skills were at a level where he didn't need to sing the notes anymore, anyway (he heard the music in his head, which is really the goal of sight singing, in the first place), so that point is almost entirely moot.
  18. Fucking hell, Prophecy's track. Goddammit, finish that one, it just sounds too good to leave at one minute.
  19. Oh shit. Amphibious, it's time for round two, BIATCH!!
  20. God, I knew I recognized it - someone mentioned that it was in the castle section of I Wanna Be The Guy. I agree, it is pretty badass. EDIT: Just found on a quick search. There is at least one awesome arrangement of this theme out there.
  21. Yeah... Erm, fix that patch. I'll get back t this when you do.
  22. You really do good work with the SNES soundfonts - I've enjoyed your stuff for some time, much like others on here. I do wish you submit your arrangement of Journey on the WIP forums here before submitting to OCR, though, as one of the mods would have been able to tell you that the track was not eligible for OCR due to the conservative arrangement. Don't let that take anything away from it, the track you made is a gorgeous cover, but the arrangement would need to be substantially different from the source to be considered for submission. Better to know now than to be surprised by the result in the near future. Very nice work on it nonetheless, though,
  23. MIA status hopefully averted from me - I am error, sorry about that. My update should be quite nice, however.
  24. I'm out in LA. Wouldn't mind chillin' sometime, though I unfortunately don't have a place for you to stay.
