  1. haha! Dang, sorry for replying to the wrong person man. lol

  2. I agree with that. The bass altogether sounds a little muddy. Boosts in the 800mhz-1khz range can bring out a little more attack in the bass where the fingering sound is. Also, do you have a real time analyzer so you can see how your track is hitting frequencies in certain areas? This is a shot of your song in the beginning: http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l265/Nubioso/RTA.jpg You got a lot of build up in that 30-40Hz range from the bass. That next spike to the right of the line is at 80Hz and a lot of the other spikes are just harmonics of the bass. The main point that I'm getting at is that there's just too much bass and too much of it is in that really low muddy range. If you don't already, use a highpass on your bass up to 30 or 35Hz. A kick drum can get a good smack at around 80Hz, where bass can generally rest a little below it at 60Hz, right around where the Low E hits. Just some food for thought, other than that, get that sucker longer =P
  3. lol, yeah, I got the A1 ban as well. I figured that I had been banned for my post saying "wow, I cant believe you people are falling for this"...... Don't know that I agree with banning just to try and perpetuate a joke, but meh....whatevs. I figured A-1 steaksauce was perfect for "A"pril "1"st =P
  4. Thanks for the comment!

  5. Hey, thanks for commenting on my Majoras Mask remix. I'm not familiar with the group Swollen members actually and definitely wasn't aiming for ICP lol. If anything, it's closer to deltron, which isn't something I tried to do, just happened. I've had a couple other people pick up on the deltron sound in certain parts.

    Thanks for listening!

  6. Ahh, well good to know. =D Don't listen to Drum and bass personally. Get into more dubstep which definitely share a lot of similarities especially with the bass. I think I liked Spor the best out of those 3 you linked me. Anywho, thanks for explaining that to me.
  7. There's definitely sub tones, primarily from your kick drum, but yeah there's definitely a bassline in there and as you said, you gotta have something that can put out atleast a clear 40Hz tone or so before you could really hear the lows in this song. However, not being enough bass never came up on my list of issues personally. Also - and apparently just because I'm really not all that familiar with DKC. I played the game, I liked it, but I only played it once many years ago so many of the references I don't know..What's the reese line?
  8. lol yeah....man, it's been forever since I've played any form of donkey kong and they've never been very high up on my notable list of music so it wasn't coming to me hearing it. Thanks for the link! This exactly what I was saying with my post. By atleast the minute mark or so it seems like it should do something. In the source, the drums and whatnot kick in at the 1:05 mark so I would try to make something really kick in for your song in a similar fashion. However, no after hearing the source, it all makes more sense to me =P But yeah, basically my thing is I just want it to kick in earlier than it does.
  9. Hmmm....I think I like the EQ you had in the first WIP to be honest. The second one seems like too much highend has been boosted and there's parts where, especially with the rhythmic bells keeping beat, that sound very thin and "tinny". As for that bassline....this is all personal opinion but I'm really not digging that slap bass sample. (I'm guessing that's slap bass? Could be wrong?)
  10. I agree with most of the comments Halc has already mentioned, particularly the bassline. There's some weird instrument that I'm hearing that starts at :50 and goes until 1:00. It sounds like someone whistling or something similar to that to be honest. Not quite sure what that is, have any idea what I might be hearing? Other than that, it sounds pretty cool thus far. Can't wait to hear more.
  11. What's the source on this? Guess I'm the only one out of the loop =P It's pretty good, and I know it's not finished, but based on everyones comments, I kept expecting something to happen or really kick in at some point which it never did as of yet. It seemed to just really repeat the entire time for me in which, as I said, I kept waiting for something to happen. Buuuut, since I'm not familiar with the source, that could also play a huge role in my current opinion.
  12. Thank you for everyones awesome comments. It was a lot of fun making this track. I definitely recognize the production issues, especially the fact that the 2nd half isn't quite as good as the first. I will be the first to say I probably wrapped the project up too quick without really putting as much focus into the second half as much as I did the first. Also - Yeah, I know it's cheesy, I mean come on people....it's a rap about video games....there's no way to make that "cool" or "hardcore" in anyway lol. I also realize that my rap isn't a perfect depiction of what happens in the game, but the whole point of this stuff is to have fun and bring a fantasy to life. I have let my girlfriend know that there are a lot of people asking to hear her vocals again so naturally she's bugging me to start a new project, but we'll see what happens =P Again, thanks to everyone who's helped me to get this song submitted. I'm definitely looking forward to my next project....whenever that may be.
  13. Good luck man! I guess we'll see it on the front page about a year from now lol. I just got word about one I submitted back in May 09, it's just made it to the "to be posted" list lol... So.....I guess we'll look forward to this being on the front page late 2010 or early 2011! Again, good luck
  14. Very nice medley. I know it's supposed to be very orchestral but I'd still like to hear SOME sort of percussion in there. Keeping it in the style you're aiming for of course you could limit it to timpani's, cymbals hear and there, bells, things of that nature. Other than that I quite enjoyed it and I definitely know what you mean about being somewhat limited by your samples(based on a post by you on the youtube channel). But, as has already been said, again in the channel, things like messing with the attack of the strings, and velocities will greatly improve the song as well.
  15. I think OCRemix has an upload limit of 6mb or something like that according to their filesize limit of song submissions. At 12 minutes long, I wonder how you're gonna manage that without really compromising sound quality lol Other than that, crazy stuff putting this together indeed. Nice work.
  16. lol, well I pretty much agree with what every other person has said. Very well made remix, sounds great and it'll definitely be even more astounding once you get a real sax in there. The addition of the sound FX are definitely awesome
  17. Hmmm, was trying to show a friend that I share my dubstep music with this song and appears the links are no longer working =/
  18. Yeah, I knew you were using steel guitars, but just thought I'd see if you might like that as well....totally understandable though! and yes......big lebowski for the win =D
  19. Nice song. Flows very nicely and is really nice and peaceful. It may not be the right sound you're looking for but I have some rather excellent nylon string guitar samples. I made a quick 30 second little diddy for you to listen to. If you like it, or hell, maybe even just to see if you like it, you can always send me the midi file and I'll send you the track back (dry of course, I threw reverb on this cause it sounds nice =P) I do have an acoustic, and even though the song doesn't sound too complicated, I'm not sure if I could give you a good recording...it's a very quiet song and unfortunately my dang computer is too loud =/ Anywho, here's the sample of the nylon strings: http://www.tindeck.com/listen/gdth
  20. So do you play flute or know someone or is that just the samples? I'm listening to your other zelda remix that's been posted and the flute and harp sound excellent. You should definitely make the flute in this new song sound like the one in your previous song because that one sounds flawless.
  21. Pretty cool. I've been downloading a crapload of dubstep music lately. Some good stuff out there. I know dubstep is all about the killer beat and the bass being the most prominent thing in the mix, however, your bass in the surfing one is TOO out of control. It's not a smooth clean bass, it's more just muddy. Looking at your song on a frequency analyzer there's a crazy slope downward from low-end to high end. Even on dubstep, if you look at a well produced and mastered song through an analyzer you'll see that most of the frequencies are still fairly even across the board except for the massive bass notes usually sticking above the rest. Currently your song takes a dive on everything about 3khz approximately. Also, you could probably highpass it up to 30-35Hz and get rid of the gunk below that that doesn't really give definition to your sound. All in all pretty good just clean up the low end and bring in a little more high end to balance it out. Good work.
  22. Yeah, I hear what you're talking about. It's the flute notes and you can hear the air wheezing through the flute too much....that should definitely not be that present like it is. Other than that, like everyone else says, nice song.
  23. as always jabond, I like your guitars. I agree with TheKrow that the drums would definitely benefit from velocity tweakage, give it more of that human feel. But....I will also admit, drum programming is my weakest area so I understand how tedious it can feel. (to me at least) I will also agree about more orchestration, also I think some of those strings should be brought up a little up more into the mix. Other than that, diggin the song thus far
  24. wow man, sounds great. You say this is all sequenced? What programs are you using to create this? That's some amazing sounds you got there. It practically sounds like you liquored up a bunch of russian musicians and had them play this for you! Very nice!
