  1. I wish some dad would mod all the misogyny and poor writing out of Other M. I'd give him $75 for that copy.
  2. Galuf was one hell of a guy. Took out Exdeath solo even AFTER losing all his HP. A total bro to the end. And mind you, back then, all you had to go off of was FFIV, where even characters who had no way of surviving their "deaths" were fine and dandy later on. As a kid I was very much bummed when Cid, Yang, Rydia, Palom and Porom, and Tellah died or sacrificed themselves throughout the course of the story (though anyone back then could see Tellah's death a mile away and he was barely in your party). But then, like all of them sans Tellah are just chillin' once more later on in the game, making me think "Uh, what?" But this is tangential to the topic at hand. PS you can't call Aeris' death anything other than Sephiroth's magnificent "i troll u" moment.
  3. I don't know, I played that game as a teenager and the whole Celes-attempts-suicide things didn't really floor me with sadness. I may have been young but I had a feeling that the game wouldn't kill off one of its main characters.
  4. clearly Nintendo needs to hire Anita Sarkeesian to give them lectures on sexism.
  5. Nintendo stock is tricky because every time they announce anything, ever, their stock value plummets.
  6. I disliked Corruption because of its greater linearity due to an emphasis on a forgettable, silly (and laughable) plot and VA, struggling to do those stupid "twist and turn your wrists to open to door" segments that were plain not fun, and while there were more worlds to explore, and interesting environments, they all felt fairly small in scope as opposed to having one large organic world to explore, like Tallon IV and Aether. Also, the bosses were lazy (shockwave attacks everywhere), and Hypermode more or less took all the challenge away from the game as soon as you learned how to exploit it constantly. That and the final boss was a huge letdown. That, and on top of all of that, I don't really think the motion controls really enhanced things - I was quite happy with and enjoyed the Gamecube controls for the first two games. Of course this is small potatoes to the steaming pile of garbage that was Other M, but honestly, I don't foresee myself playing either Other M or Corruption any time soon. I've been seeing some giantbomb videos of Tank! Tank! Tank! and I must say, it's looking to be a game right up my alley. Though I think within the first few hours of release, we'll start to see abuses of the whole "put a photo on the boss's face" thing. "S- Sir! I do say, that monster's face is no face at all."
  7. We don't know that... yet. Ninja Gaiden 3 was a laughably terrible, terrible game, and deserving of no praise. They will have to change the game from the ground-up in every single design sense in order for it to be anywhere near as good as the other NG games. Not to mention the finicky, gimmicky, stupid "open the door lol" motion control stuff, and the unsatisfying and annoying implementation of the grapple beam... Prime 3 was a mish-mosh of limited environs and lame fetch-quests (in a series derided for lame fetch-quests!), and I personally think the trilogy had its peak at Echoes, where the ideas, bosses, and locales were the most unique and innovative. Of course, by the time you get to Other M, it's clear that Nintendo has no fucking clue what they're doing, or going to do, with the Metroid franchise. Watch as they shove it off to another third-party developer, who once more fail to see what made the series so great.
  8. In Monster Tale's case, the music is the only thing worth coming back to after finishing the game.
  9. Um, I didn't know 2011 counted as "old."
  10. No more Prime games, please. I may love them but after Corruption I don't want to see the series dragged through the mud any more. Through all the pretty vistas, Corruptions was Retro saying "we have no more ideas with what to do with this series" And Other M is fine if you like to laugh at bad games. Samus shouldn't have suitless moments. The Power Suit is what makes Samus the character she is. Every time she's been in her Zero Suit in the games it's been disappointing, or in MOM's case, insulting. So no. Save it for end-game eye-candy. I don't know why people want more of that when it adds objectively, nothing to the game. If anything it means we have to sit through more shitty story scenes. prematurely ending my Metroid rant here.
  11. I'm hoping the big shuffling and restructuring of Nintendo's programming/dev teams will result in the rebirth of some old franchises, and maybe a new one here or there. Maybe if we're even lucky Aonuma and Sakamoto can stop damaging their respective series with each passing installment.
  12. would rather have a new Wario World game tbh
  13. Well, some of you may know I love Manga UK's hyper-violent, profanity-infused, ultra-schlock releases. That being said, I think I found my next watch: Containing classic lines such as: "Eat shit and DIE!" "Never underestimate the power of Japanese technology, you bitch!" "WHO'DA FUCK YA THINK YA ARE, HUH? SOME KINDA MODERN-DAY LONE RANGER? WELL NOW YOU GUNNA BE THE DEAD FUCKIN' RANGER!" "FUCK AND PISS!" "Hi my name's Angel but don't let that fool you I can be a real bitch when I want to!" Nothing these days really comes close to how fun the mindless-yet-stylish OVAs of the 80s-90s.
  14. As soon as you heard Namco was involved you should have known its chances for localization dropped to about 14%.
  15. I liked 4HoL a lot, but its problem is its difficulty doesn't stay consistent. Before Rolan, the game is varied and challenging. After beating Rolan, you just set someone to hero, and spam that all-attack special move, and the game becomes a cake-walk. Add that to the ease of getting ribbons in the game, and you have an unkillable party. I'm glad the bosses level up with you, but the game is about half-awesome. It's a step up from the last few Final Fantasy games.
  16. It's going to be hard to justify buying Ikachan, a 10-minute game that's really actually easy and more or less the Cave Story demo. And while I am excited for Bravely Default, I don't really trust Fatsimu scores anymore. As far as 3DS games go, these are what I'd be interested in: -Resident Evil: Revelations (CAPCOM) -Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacies (Namco; remake of Ace Combat 2, not casual CODfest AC:AH) -Code of Princess (Atlus) -Shinobi 3DS (SEGA) -Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure (SEGA) -Fire Emblem -Kid Icarus Uprising -Ocarina of Time 3D eShop: -Liberation Maiden (Suda 51) -Sakura Samurai (Grounding) Still waiting on that Advance Wars game to get me firmly in the "must buy", but I'm pretty close as is. A decent line-up of worthy games as of right now, and when we get our inevitable Phoenix Wright and Layton games, it'll get stronger. Though seeing Layton without his hat is just... not right. Like I said, I'm waiting on Advance Wars, and maybe some more platforming games that aren't just Super Mario/New Super Mario Bros, which honestly do not appeal to me right now in the slightest.
  17. Fuckin' a Of course I don't really care about the HD craze that much. I just think it's funny how much "HD" has been shoved down our throats through marketing when only a handful of games have actually been able to display at 1080p. And even fewer have been actually able to even run at 60fps! Games running in 1080p and in 60fps would be pretty neato, though. It'd be nice to see the processing power put to some good use.
  18. This entire generation has been sold on the illusion of [fake] "HD" so it might come as a shock when games are actually presented in real "HD." I already expressed my hopes and fears about the graphical upgrades of the WiiU pages ago. Basically, I hope this will mean less anti-aliasing, better textures, etc.
  19. Considering how most of the NSMB series are just plain mediocre platforming to begin with, it's hard to get myself excited for another one. That and the music and sound-design for the series has sucked really hard. It's like they base their entire soundtrack around a stupid little choral stab that sounds like someone saying "FUCK FUCK" Of course, Nintendo made their best Mario game a good long while back, and it !
  20. He was and is the only one of the character (this goes for as well).
  21. Well, after the Wii and DS, my online expectations for Nintendo are more or less rock-bottom. Anything that's not a hassle will actually be a pleasant surprise. But then again, outside of Smash Bros. there won't be many games worth playing online. That's just my prediction. Unless Nintendoland really gets the ball rolling (I doubt it).
  22. From what I've heard, we're getting yet another "revamped" version of Friend Codes. golf claps to nintendo everyone : /
  23. I like it a whole lot! It stays very true to the original, and I really like the instruments you used. If were to start improving, I'd try humanizing the percussion a bit more; the snare hit sounds a bit flat.
  24. I think the soundtrack of Portal 1 is a bit better than Portal 2. Portal 2 has a lot more bombastic songs, to reflect the bigger nature of the game, but Portal 1's ambiance I think trumps it.
