  1. No, just because it had like 5 Arwing levels doesn't mean the game wasn't a piece of trash. And those Arwing levels were nowhere near as well-designed. Plus, it had carried over the lame from Adventures, and as such, it was doomed from the start. By Command, the series has gone into full-on furry fanfiction territory. But that's not what this thread is about. It's about that really cool polygon SNES game. (if only Starfox 64's music was as good!).Did anyone ever play StarFox's sister game,
  2. Season's overworld was the most egregiously gimmicky (though Ages fell victim to some of this too), but the dungeons were definitely top-notch material.
  3. The Oracle games are some of the best in the series, because they are based on the best 2D game in the series. So it's good to see them being rereleased.
  4. You want a sequel to the game that more or less sabotaged the franchise? I'll take the stylized 3D of the early polygon games (StarFox, Virtua Racing) over the stuff that comes directly afterward (aka muddy texture-ville).
  5. These two statements next to each other bring on endless lols.
  6. Because backwards compatibility made the PS3 way more expensive than Sony needed it to be, and ultimately was pretty pointless since the emulation wasn't all that great (even on the 60GB launch model, which had the Emotion chip installed). Backwards compatibility is a nice thing to have, but from a business standpoint, and especially Sony's standpoint, making things BC for games powered by Cell or even further back is ludicrous.
  7. It's not that I've 'given up', it's that I've stopped caring. Just like Valve Corp.
  8. At the same time, those two are games you don't need a lot of manpower to seriously develop in. Especially TF2 at this stage.
  9. So they were even doing less work than I thought. No wonder they wanted out! I have my suspicion that this points to Valve Corp. slowly leaving the software game, and being focused entirely on digital distribution and their gamble for hardware space.
  10. Continuing proof that GOG is one of the best things to happen to PC gaming since Steam. Definitely picking this up over the weekend. Now, if they could get System Shock 1 on there...
  11. They probably actually wanted to make games again, instead of living in the virtual hat factory.
  12. Still, 40% of the book dedicated to SS seems to me "advertisement for SS" Mine came in the mail, to the wrong address, so I have to wait another week. >.>
  13. I'm surprised that there's actually anything for the Oracle games. Still inexcusable to have anything devoted to the completely un-praiseworthy DS games as opposed to the GB, GBC, and GBA games.
  14. I really, really want there to be more to actually explore, and have more dungeons, but don't count on "improved gameplay" to mean anything more than "less total triforce pieces to collect." I mean, this game comes out in less than a year?
  15. Hasn't low retail presence been pretty much the characteristic of every Fire Emblem game, ever? They are the only nintendo games, sans Earthbound, that command a huge resale value online.
  16. A pal of mine who ordered this told me most of the book is SS art, with only a few pages dedicated to other games in the series - and no Link's Awakening (but 20 pages of Spirit Tracks? Yuck...). That sort of bums me out a little bit, but something is better than nothing, I suppose. Now we just need a Metroid art book. Filled with Prime art, please.
  17. Super Meat Boy and Braid are honestly competing with Mario in your estimation?
  18. Rayman Origins was good enough to make me want to see a sequel, for sure. Though considering the sales of Beyond Good and Evil, I really doubt we'll ever see anything in regards to a sequel. The money just isn't there. Then again, some people were dumb enough to publish Okami for three different systems, so you have that going for you.
  19. In my dream world, Square Enix forces itself out of existence, but grants Squaresoft, Eidos, and Taito Corp. their freedom before it does.
  20. The plus side to all of this is that the bad economy and diminishing returns are either going to force these big conglomerate companies to make good games, or force them out of existence. It's a win-win.
  21. People who argue such are just buying into the ideology of the game industry anti-pirating propaganda. Which is by and large looking in the wrong direction for the reason for dropping profits across all fronts. It can't be huge budgets and marketing departments, or alienating large swaths of the population with games that only appeal to teenage boys... No, it has to be piracy!
  22. I hope that this sells well enough to convince Nintendo to license another Advance Wars game to be made on the handheld. And I sort of doubt this game will get a reprinting, despite the high-demand. I expect it to be in the same price range as the rest of the Fire Emblem games in the not-too-distant future.
  23. Toadofsky's quotes bring up the basic gist: the game industry has grown so bloated and fragile, that it will commit suicide for fear of death. Valve Corp would like to hire you to their legal division. That distinction is why by and large I haven't bought a Steam game in over a year. There's enough on GOG to keep me occupied!
  24. another incentive to finish my ZX Spectrum remix, I suppose. Though this Wily avatar works well since I always seem to post in a grumpy mood.
  25. Do you think they'll actually localize his name as John McClain? That would really be awesome.
