  1. SO GOOD. This songs makes me wanna float up to the sky. You always have that grand ethereal feel in all of your electronica, and son, i am not disappoint. And that DUBSTEP bridge with the vox glitching! Man, bLiNd, you handle that girl's voice LIKE A BOSS. I've never heard dubstep so grand and airy before. You definitely did a good job blending DnB and dubstep. To be perfectly honest, dubstep should be better suited as an element of music (like it is here) rather than a genre of music, but that's just my personal taste. You did a great job and you certainly threw down teh wubwubz without fail.
  2. Yeah let's go back to the formula that worked I mean isn't everyone all excited for Skyward Sword and wasn't everyone excited for LoZ: TP? There weren't any sort of complaints that those games were similar to ocarina of time at all.
  3. People really need to stop saying "VST"'s, because they're not being clear about whether they're talking about synths or samplers. Can you get it done with a VST? Yes, two. One is called Kontakt (a sampler, not a synth), which you have to buy to get access to buy Shreddage. The other is an amp sim of your choice. I recommend downloading the TH2 Overloud demo. Good stuff. Shreddage includes low Bb tuning, and Shreddage X (the lovely $20 expansion that's bigger than the original) has Ab tuning. That's all of the low dark metal tuning you need right there. Of course if you can't afford Kontakt, zircon is working on bringing Shreddage to DirectWave. Can you get it done with a synthesizer? If you feel like spending years fine tuning your replication of a human playing rhythm guitar, sure. (in other words, don't do it. Especially not with something like sytrus and hardcore. Sytrus is pretty powerful but it's not meant for physical modeling. Hardcore sucks hardcore.)
  4. It often comes from too much low end on reverb. Just makes it really "blubbityblubbglub" in the low end.
  5. Guys, seriously, if you keep posting miniscule project updates every hour, this thread will be over 100 pages long by the end of the competition. Chill out and just work on your tracks. And don't post WiP's, because that just ruins the whole thing. You're supposed to have the voters listen to em fresh when the voting week starts, not as the mixing stage goes on. It's not against the rules, but it just makes it weird. The previous GRMRB and GMRB weren't anything like this.
  6. I think Rozovian is more concerned about content at this stage.
  7. I only want a boxed copy so I can proudly put it on my shelf of music production goodies next to Kontakt 4 and Audio Kontrol 1.
  8. The Link's Awakening track of April 2011 in Currently To Be Judged thread doesn't have the title of the track listed.
  9. You can get good results on that, just don't go crazy on phat synths or big samplers and you'll be fine. And multiband compressors. Your computer is about as fast as mine, if not faster. The Pentium 4 I read is around the same as the Athlon 64, and I have a mobile laptop version of that (which is significantly slower).
  10. I have received confirmation from the lookout that you were born on this day.
  11. How do all of you know what bracket you're in and what pick you have?
  12. Do it in Community. Announcements are for staff only.
  13. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826106508&cm_sp=ProductSpotlight-_-26-106-508-_-05122011 Really a stupid-great choice. Bass is definitely not flat, but it's not too much either. I mix my music on these, and can handle compensating for the extra bass without killing my ears. Steal for $20.
  14. There's absolutely no reason to get a hard copy. "But what if my computer crashes and I have to reinsta-" STOP. Redownload the demo, get a regkey from your account page on imageline.com YOU'RE BACK IN BUSINESS. It's faster than reinstalling from a boxed copy, accounting for opening the CD sleeves, putting it into your computer, and waiting to install from there. This is correct, however the boxed copies come with a $50 voucher, which any person who actually cares about value would use for the lifetime free upgrades.
  15. Sure, why not? It might take some time to figure out the correct position of the automation data, though.
  16. You buy FL Studio only once in your entire lifetime. It's tied to your account, if you want to install it on any machine just download the demo and get a regkey from your account page at Image-Line.
  17. Just use the pitch bend wheel controlled by MIDI. Find the MIDI CC# for pitch and make and edit the automation in your patterns in the little window under the piano roll where you normally see velocities. Also, the pitch bend notes aren't on MIDI standard (they're FL specific) so VSTs can't understand them. Only native plugins like sytrus can.
  18. DJP, you'd let this poor 7 year old OCReMixer without an OCR shirt?
  19. EDIT: New 3.0.0 Driver out for Audio Kontrol 1. This thing works GREAT now! No issues.
  20. I meant no one prefers it over samplers. It hasn't gotten to that point yet. And it's off topic anyway. This discussion is about recorded excerpts and loops, not sample libraries for samplers. We've already cleared this up back in the first page.
