Ok, I have sorted out the flute lead, I have EQ'd down the high frequencies. Also I have added a percussion part in the caribbean section which at the moment I think is awesome. Its striking me how much this sounds like a Mcvaffe remix... maybe his music is rubbing off on me http://www.tindeck.com/audio/my/uxiw/shootingstars

Who or What Inspired You To Go Into Music
WillRock replied to TheSnowStorm's topic in General Discussion
Hmm... Interesting question that... I am not sure, it just happened, its almost like I didn't chose it, more along the lines that I was meant to do it. Yeah, I know, i'm weird -
WIP-Releases: Feedback, Discussion + ?s

5. I would say that same as rozo, only I have found that not only do they not comment, they don't even click on the link or download the file. I think I big problem with this is that is takes some knowledge of remixing to comment and a lot of people I bet aren't confident enough to try it. Also, its more work than other forums to post, as you have to listen to a track and then post, which I personally don't like doing that much and I doubt I'm the only one. The reason community is so popular is that its so much easier to contribute I guess. -
I use reason 3.0 so the setup of the programme may be a little different to what I am hoping. Anyway, here goes, Basically, I am guessing that your pitch bend wheel is automated (programmed to move by itself in a certain way) Right click the wheel and select 'clear automation'. Thats how it is done on reason 3.0 but It may be different on reason 2.5.

Hahahaha good one.

I'm a little different. I'm not so good at conversations irl, but on the internet, you can think about what you say before you say it a little more.
-
Oh sorry, I didn't read your whole post In that case... I agree.

Thats not true, some people can't control their anger, trust me mate, I've seen it.
-
He did? I didn't know that... I do think that he is a little cocky, but I say in his defense, If you were as talented as him and did what he has done for rock music, I think most people would be. He may be cocky, but he is a great guitarist who has earned that right I guess. Or thats the way he sees it .
-
Same here, it sucked. I got a playstation 2 eventually though.
-
I don't but I have met people that have. One of them had a serious anger problem, I won't name names, just to be safe (you never know lol) but this guy and a friend of mine were playing a game (chess I think it was) and the angry bloke cheated as he was losing. My mate hit him (not hard, just as a joke you know) and this bloke snapped, and you can guess the rest. Frightening as hell, as it happened right in front of me. My mate was all right luckily.

Steve Vai is a lot more experimental than satch but satch is more commercial, you should look his music up, its very similar to video game music (his music would be perfect for racing games) Hmm... surfing with the alien has the hits, but his best effort is the extremist, brilliant music. Malmsteen is also great, he created the neo-classical genre, but he is one the more show-offy guitarists, but I agree with the theory comment, malmsteems knowedge of scales is great. However, Joe satch takes the award for technical theory knowedge, his knowedge of music theory, and scales simply outstripes basically every other guitarist I know of, not to mention the emotion and creative melodies he writes simply makes his music essential listening imo.
-
You have a point about the sweep picking. Ok, scratch what I said before, he does have knowedge of theory, as well as melody, as he does play in key at the begining of the video, but as soon as the sweep picking comes in... ouch :C I guess the they all go hand in hand, you need technique and emotion in your playing and musicial knowedge to create good music. One completes the other. I do think it is a shame that some guitarists today are just obsesed with speed nowadays, like this guitarist here, and herman li from dragonforce to name another. There is more than one way to play the guitar
-
Yeah, I remember the first time I saw that guy play on youtube, hes fast as fuck but he is so so obsesed with speed that he has no melodic skills what-so-ever, which actually proves my view on technique vs soul a valid point, which is that all the technique and knowedge of theory in the world is useless if you don't know how to use it, although I bet this guy has no knowedge of theory anyway.

Man I hate using emulators, as the controls are so dicky (especially with fighting games like street fighter, they are torture to do commands correctly. I use the original consoles where possible as that is what the games were originally meant to be played on.
-
I am not sure, but I would guess that it is up to the composer themselves, as long as they make music that suits the game, anything goes, then again, I do not know as I do not compose video game music as a profession. It would be interesting to know for sure though, as it is a career path I am currently considering.

Ok, I know that ocremix doesn't do charts of the most popular remixes and stuff like that, so I was wondering what are the current fav remixes of users on the site. To starts things off, mine is currently [MOD EDIT: EVERYTHING!].

WIP-Releases: Feedback, Discussion + ?s

Hmm... me personally, I know I do not review alot, but that is because I am unsure I am good enough currently to give advice, so confidence affects it personally (I will be happy to review when I/if I get a remix posted) not sure if that is the same for other people though. But if I do review, and I have once or twice, I'll do it if I am familiar with the game, (I am more likely to look at sonic wip's), this introduces another problem - If that is true for other people, then less popular games will not get as much traffic. I might if I know the remixer (I would comment If you did a WIP Rozo) Genre - techno, seeing as that is what I generally make. I am happy to give feedback on arrangement as well, so that will apply for any style, remixer etc, as long as people post the source (which isn't done often enough) One extra note - not sure the placement of the forum is great (the last one on the forum page) I think it could benefit from being at a different placement (I can't help but notice that the community forum has the most traffic by a LONG way and that is the first forum on the forums page), but that would mean changing the that page ;S -
I say its a matter of opinion. Some people don't like OC Remix because they feel that we fuck with the source too much, but on the other hand, if all you do is enhance the original, where is the creativity in the mix in the first place? Its true that some people prefer the sound of the original source and want to hear a similar style version of the source with better sampling/production etc. Its like the dark world brawl remix - people got all hyped when they heard it was going to be in brawl, and some disappointed with the end result of that remix because it didn't have the essence of the original, whereas some loved it because of its originality. You have to remix in a certain way on OC Remix, you can't re-make the original on here, and its stupid to change that, as you can find so many remixes that are remakes anyway. Basically, if you want a re-mix, look here, if you want a remake, look elsewhere on the internet - you can find anything you are looking for on it these days.

Yep, this well be my first unofficial original release! Here is a glimpse of the first track (a wip) http://www.tindeck.com/audio/my/gsmi/synthtopia The album won't be completed for a while so be patient! I will post more details soon.
