  1. i'll pretty much listen to anything. Granted that there will be pieces of music in a given style that I will dislike (some more than others, dependent on genre) but I do like music from all styles to an extent. I am trying more than ever to listen to different styles of music so I can incorporate elements of different styles in my music and fuse it with my own to try and make it unique. If I was to choose I style I would rather listen to, that would be classic rock/classic metal. That is my passion in music as far as listening is concerned
  2. It you ask me, star wars is at the point where it is just a big cash in for companies My guess is no, but you never know...
  3. One the best on the site IMO. Just awesome zircon, this is a keeper for sure, its so cool
  4. N00b question here lol: I use reason 3.0 and whenever export a midi of a reason file I have created, It always plays all my indiviual instruments as the first midi instrument - acoustic piano, when I play it back in a media player (itunes etc), including my drum part, which gets annoying. In older programmes I used, the midi file I created played each instrument as its original instument sound (for example if I made an organ piece in say cubase and exported a midi file, it played back the instrument as an organ, but reason plays it back as a piano) So how do I assign each instrument its original sound in the midi file in reason and not a piano? Thanks.
  5. Its certainly something I have given alot of thought. What I intend to do is try and get a job in the music industry and do another job at the same time that has a set wage, so I have some money coming in even if the my music ambitions don't earn me enough to make me a living. Maybe I need to give it more thought - I'm only 18 and in my first year at uni so I have time to plan. I am definitely going to try and get in the music industry though - what have you got to lose?
  6. Thanks for the positive comment mate, i'm flattered that you logged in after so long to praise my work Keep the feedback coming guys!
  7. This is a very good thread I may keep a copy of this for reference. Its something I have been wondering myself. I personally have a set plan to attempt to achieve my goal, but everyone says how hard it is. What I'm doing personally is using the internet as a means of promotion for my music and my university course and OCR as a means to increase my musical boundaries (OCR has been fantastic so far ). I'm trying to learn mixing and mastering effectively, and increase the styles I compose in and arrangement as a whole. I eventually intend to create a portfolio of my work when I get to a good enough standard and send it off to a gaming company and try to get employed through that method. I was wondering if I am going along the right lines :S Seems like a good place to ask By the way, I use Reason 3.0 and Pro Tools LE 7.3 to create my music/remixes.
  8. Heres another unfinished track that I am hoping to submit. Boo at the ending, I'm still trying to think up a good ending, not to mention a little worried about sample quality. Hopefully good enough, or soon will be. Tree Surfin' Sonic EDIT: Oh yeah, and source http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbaRjvQOBWU
  9. Ok, heres another one 8D http://www.tindeck.com/audio/filestore/u/uprd-Upbeat%20Jazz.mp3
  10. I say let it be. Its too late to convince people otherwise now. Besides, its not like its hurt the popularity of the track BTW, this is awesome.
  11. Here is my submission: http://www.tindeck.com/audio/filestore/e/ekxt-Tarnished%20Property.mp3 Nice job on the source J.H.
  12. Very good. It reminds me of final ecstasy by ailsean. Nice job guys, this sounds awesome
  13. Well for a start, the list was made by through a voting system, so only the best and well-known tracks would have been chosen. Having 'The most popular video games tracks' as a title would be a more accurate representation of this, because the more popular tracks in the more popular games are the ones that get voted for. Everyone knows mario, zelda, FF, sonic etc. tracks will be included because of the games popularity's. Its like the coop said, the track he liked that wasn't on the list, I had never heard before, but had heard the majority of the tracks in the top ten list. I think it is pretty safe to say that there are better game themes than the ones that are on that list, but not enough people have heard them to make an impact. At the end of the day, its impossible to select the 'be-all end-all' best video game track because everyone has different tastes in music. Thus OCR's no fav rule.
  14. It surpises me that with the popularity of that game (one of the most popular video game franchises of all time) that no one has done a remix of that game in 10 years. I'm most likely going to do one, but it seems people have forgotten about the great music from this game Heres an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFnzK2Ih_p8
  15. I have a gameboy. I use to have a sega saturn too, but that broke
  16. I'm not picking up anything on my headphones, yet the file plays. Anyone else have this problem?
  17. I have completed the survey. I hope my participation is useful in some way.
  18. I was half expecting a sega saturn version of through the fire and the flames to jump out at me then... That would be cool
  19. If thats true, then so does yours, I was wondering what yours would be. BTW, I think is going to win this one
  20. One hit deaths. No contest. I wanna be the guy is SO Frustrating due to that feature, it makes you go insane!
  21. Not many. About Five or six. I tend to finish what I start in terms of music.
  22. My view is that a soundtrack (of any kind, not just video game music) is intended to help set the mood that the creator of said video game, movie, whatever - intended. Its basically to enhance the experience of in this case, a video game level, thus making it more enjoyable.
  23. Man this remix is sweet, the first lead is fantastic. I lot of thought went into this one, there are plenty of great little touches here and there that make this even better
  24. Hmm... this was the first of a barrage of legend of zelda jazz remixes... I guess this may have influenced a couple of that time period
