  1. Seeing as i don't have any musical skills, I'll make a suggestion or two. Smithy's Theme - Super Mario RPG And a reference towards what : : (Sorry, but I couldn't find any OSTs. The best I can do is try to make a recording the music from my game cartridge)Also, perhaps we should make a list of all the referenced boss music that everyone has mentioned so far; that way remixers who haven't yet decided will have an easier time looking for choices. Sort of like compile everything that's been mentioned and put it in one post (I can do if you want).
  2. I agree with Neko. I'd be nice to see what's like to be in teams, and give the inexperienced players a chance to have some fun, as the more experienced ones will be able to back them up. On another note, will there be a chance to do warm-up matches and such? Or should we just start off cold? Oh yeah, and it's a little difficult to decide on my current playing level; yes, I'm being a bit picky if you read the last post. Right now, I'm going to judge myself as an inexperianced - like, say, I haven't played in a long time and haven't played moderately on normal games. I think it depends on what we consider to be inexperienced and experianced.
  3. Hmmmmm? This has me piquet. Although I'm generally no where near an expert or moderate player, I still do enjoy the game a fair bit; and I have watched a lot of replays with experts in them (A la Mondragon). I've played more 'Use map settings' games, but I think the replays, along with with whatever regular game experiance I did have, has given me a few pointers. So yeah, assuming there isn't a bit problem with time constraints, consider me in. Might get killed in the first round, but who knows.
  4. GIMME! XD Well, not right away. But by 'make again' I'm assuming you're referring to when we create our characters after the new patch is launched. My question is that will a ladder character being able to go into a non-ladder character's game to obtain the axes? If so, that would be awesome. In any case, I'll wait on my decision to recreate a throwing axe character, as I want to see how this one handles through the other acts. I'm considering placing Grim Totem in the works for strategic purposes, but may spread my stats too thin. Right now, though, I am leaning more towards a Throwing Barb.
  5. Been doing solo runs, and managed to get my tank barbarian to Act 2. Unfortunately, playing him just doesn't feel exhilerating; granted, he's sturdy and I'm not having too much trouble using him. But single, powerful shot hits is getting kind of dull for me for some reason. Maybe it's because I haven't gotten Berserk or just because I'm not in a party acting like the tank. Either way, I'm beginning to have seconds thoughts; and second thoughts led me to an old, low level character that's been collecting dust in my account: my Double Throwing Axe Barb. I find it a little odd that I just gave up after I died at Duriel, this being because I died so quickly. I guess I thought my char was a failure. Yet I think that was due to poor micromanagment that I died, because I started playing him again and I had a blast. His attack rating utterly sick (+1100 at the end of Act 2!? I usually have enough trouble trying to get my character's atk rating at 900), and I just find utter glee in just machine gunning hoards of monsters (And I have yet to get Frenzy. Oh will the axes and knives fly). My only minor qualm is that ammunition is limited, but there's enough that I don't constantly TP for more ammo. So yeah, I started him back up and with some good hard persistance, managed to kick Duriel's ass. He's at Act 3 and is currently lvl 21. Anyone care to join me for a game tomorrow?
  6. Same here. I've never attempted to make an HC due to me dying from lag on a few occasions. BTW, Thursday and Friday I can get home about around 3 PM latest. I might try for a practice run if there's the chance. Might need to pre-level my barb to keep though.
  7. That's cool to hear! I'm all aware this is just practice, but I generally don't get many chances to play with other people online. Question: Are we talking offensive shouts (I.E. Taunt, Battle Cry), where the shout afflicts enemies, or defensive shout, which help boost team player stats? The reason I ask this is because my Tank Barbarian uses Defensive warcries and they generally mix in well with the synergies bonuses (I plan primarily use Concentrate and Berserk as my main attacks). It should be noted that Defensive warcries effects will override the last one that's been layed down. In other words, for example, a lower level shout can replace a higher level Shout effect. It all depends on who shouts the last. So you can see the conflict there. Also, out of curiosity, will you be dual or single wielding, or a mix between both?
  8. EDIT: That's good to hear that there will be other games later on. My primary concern is that those that haven't joined the first game may not have characters with the right correct levels to play with the other guys. Hence, some folk might need to create a new character to be fair to those hadn't yet had a chance. Will this be a problem?
  9. Unfortunately, my current school schedule doesn't allow me to get home until about 7 for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. For any other day, I'm completely free for 3 or 4 PM EST; assuming I'm not boggled by homework. So yeah, as much as I would like to join, I probably might have to sit this practice out this time. On that note, I'll be playing a Tank (Mace using) Barbarian if I ever do get the chance to meet up with you guys.
  10. I think since many people are taking spellcasters, my Tank Barbarian would be most appropriate. While you probably will have more control over the level of Holey unlike your merc, Shock is pretty powerful. Also, I remember coming across an elemental Paladin who momentarily swapped to Conviction to lower the elemental resistances before swapping back to an elemental aura. The guy essentially took advantage of how the Conviction aura's effects would last for a short moment after the aura's have been swapped. It seemed to work quite well; assuming you can micromanage between those two skills, which doesn't seem hard. I'm assuming we'll create new characters before the new version arrives and practice with them. Will these be ladder since they'll only be temporary I do like to agree with AnSo that it might be best to do the quest and use the afformentioned areas as leveling spots. On the other hand, I need to get used to rushing more (I've been doing too many solo runs on B.Net, up until I need help), so rushing may give me an idea in what stats I should focus on. Generally, I don't try to fight the ancients until I'm above lvl 30. One other thing to take into account is everyone's schedual, since we all have real-life stuff to take care of (I.E. School and work). Probably once we figure out who everyone's going to be, we can come up with a schedual that'll hopefully be far for everyone. No doubt this will be one of the tougher parts to organize.
  11. By this, I'm presume you're referring to either a Barbarian or Paladin. EDIT: I'm assuming the ladder after having some time to think.
  12. I'm beginning to have second thoughts; I might have more fun playing my tank Barbarian set up (Who uses mace class weaponry). I'd be useful in holding off the baddies while the spellcasters support; plus there's my defensive warcries, which is great in teams. Also, I'm rarin' to use the Berserk ability again. It might depend on what everyone else is playing, so as to balance out the groups.
  13. Hmmmmm, I feeling like I'll play another variation of my poison Necromancer, this time using the Lower Resist Curse alongside a fire golem. I'll have to look into balancing it. My alternative is my tank or pole arm barbarian.
  14. Whoot! Count me in, if you guys don't mind a minor commentator! My account on U.S. East, as CEMP. Well, assuming we have more than 8 people (Or at least a substantial amount to form a fun party), we can always split up the play sessions with groups of people who have closely related time zones. Of course, that could really depend if we can split the group evenly (Or fairly); at which point, I have the funny feeling we might have to do this disorganized. On that note, will we be using any chats (I.E. XFire, Skype) to communicate with one another?
  15. Yeah, that was one preview that caught me because I couldn't quite identify which track it was remixing; but it sounded so much like DK Island Swing in the original DKC. I can't remember if Cranky's Conga sounded like that or not. EDIT: Yeah, I just listened to that preview track again, and I can definitely identify it as Token Tango. I must say, you guys really kept me guessing in what track was a remix of what. That's a complement BTW, considering that I pretty much figured almost all of them out.
  16. ANTICIPATION TIMES 9000!!! Ohh man, I can't help but feel this will be one of my favorite OCR Albums, since it is paying homage to one of my favorite childhood games. Frick, listening to this new preview brings so much nostalgia that I feel like buying some Wiipoints just to download it for good 'ol times. I defintely concur that Boss Bossanova is sounding badass, and I'm all the more itching to listen to Audix's Krook's March (Since I've been listening to One Day Millinium). Heck, there's a lot that I can say about all the tracks here, but to some it all up: AWESOME. Here's me waiting for the release. Hell, I just can't express how much I'm looking foward to hearing all the full tracks. No, "Times 9000!" still doesn't do. It's over 9000!
  17. I'd like to second that motion. It appears that this topic once again diverged from DKC2 Project discussion to bit a of a flames war, albeit with some DKC2 project mixed into the discussion. Granted, I'd like to see everyone's response to this guy who thinks his opinion matters so much that every other remixer must listen to him; to put it lightly. However, while I'm not a moderator here, I do have enough experiance to know that the thread has started to dripple into the similar flame war we saw about the Tales project, so I think it would be best if we ended this. Seriously dude, stop insulting people before you've officially dig yourself a grave.
  18. I must say that with every new completed track that i see brings me great joy (Yes, I keep tabs on the list XD). I can't say it enough how much I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's work. That is all.
  19. Yeah, I concur that zoola's sounds awesome. Also, just to add, Mazedude really surprised me with his mix of Bad Bird Rag. I actually heard it before in a another preview, but i thought it was a Lockjaw's saga remix that I was hearing. I was expecting something more closer to the actual toon; a little more energetic, per say. But i guess I making early comments. Either way, the song still sounds great; and of course the rest XD
  20. I'd like to agree with what's been said in djp's review: "It's the best he's done so far!' Then again, I haven't listened to all of bLiNd's stuff. Even still, this track really delivers, and really blew me away (Especially with the speed booster sounds. Yes, especially. Thus I agree with Jade on that one ner ner:)!!).
  21. Hoooooot sweetness! I've been waiting to hear more news about this project for a while. I'm really digging the tunes and even the name! Can't wait for the Album.
  22. Woohoo! Here i thought I'd never be able to hear this album at all, hearing it would be for bLiNd. But hot damn, I'm already jiving to the music here, especially Energy Recharge and From Brinster, to bLiNd. Well done guys. EDIT: Just managed to download them all, as apparently there was compatibility issue with the new IE and the site I'm trying to visit. In any case, here's to me, here's to you guys who did the album, but most of all, here's to bLiNd *cheers*. Glad to hear he's doing better; I really do enjoy his work.
  23. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Oh, I can't wait to listen to the tracks. I've been constantly looking at the list for a progress report (The one on the first post of this topic), and I'm getting tense to see what everyone did. Although it looks like the map theme may not get it's chance, which is one of my favorites (Not the favorite) in the game. On a side note, has the list actually been updated recently to reflect any new changes in the tracks' progress?
  24. Agreed. I definitely feel that the guitar needs to louder, as it would feel like a really good center piece for the song. Particular since a guitar would probably be excellent for representing the epicness of the final boss music for Cave Story. I look forward to the completion of this track, assuming it get's to that (Which I feel it will). I want to hear another ReMix of "Last Battle."
  25. This is definitely a nice piece of remixed DKC music. There's definitely plenty of change that's keeps the music from sounding repetitive; without it sounding all jumbled. I especially like the ending that trumps with this final, big, single beat. Hmmmm, there is something around the beginning that slightly bothers me a bit. i'm not very good at identifying sounds, nor am i any kind of musical expert, but i can't help but feel that there's quite a bit of bass and not enough of something else. Like the real meat and potatoes is being masked by it a bit. This is just an intuitive guess. Sorry i can't lend any direct details, but like i said before, my knowledge on actual musicl sounds and instruments is near zilch; although I've listened to a lot of OC Remixs to at least have some experiance in identifying the good from the bad. Just trying to be of inpirational help. But yeah, do keep going at this song. We don't have enough Crocodile Cacaphony remixes, and that's one of my favorite DKC music tracks.
