This is just... incredible. I'm not usually a sucker for pianos. I feel they're generally exploited to try and get people emotional. This, though, came so close to bringing an actual TEAR to my eye that it freaked me out. The themes mixing perfectly together, that sad sad sound of Majora's Mask's music, and your fantastic playing moved me... and that surprised me. Pleeeaaase record this soon.

wip [ NGC ] Paper Mario: TTYD "Thousand Years of Anguish"
Invader_Quirk replied to FaytxStay's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
This is really cool. My only complaint is that is still seems like background music (albeit extremely good background music). Nothing stands out to me as the "main part", ya know? If I got this stuck in my head, I wouldn't know what to hum. But you can pretty much ignore that criticism considering that the source is the same way. It's a shame nobody who really knows their stuff is commenting. I look forward to the next version and hope you get some helpful feedback. -

Emunator, the many people awaiting this album appreciate your hard-ass-edness. -

You must never stop trying to get Nicole Adams to be a part of this. Never. There has to be one tune from either soundtrack that she likes. -

Anime Recommendations - Mature Action Stuff
Invader_Quirk replied to Flare4War's topic in General Discussion
I also tend to avoid long series that clearly don't have a direction in mind or just keeping making episodes because the show is still popular. -
I find this very interesting. Perhaps... just perhaps a little too frantic for so soon in the song, but I'm looking forward to hearing progress on this.

The left/right balance seemed fine to me, but I'm listening to it on some crappy earbuds so make of that what you will. My main suggestion at this point is to scrap your drum track. Everything else has a cool atmosphere and arrangement, but the drums make it sound like public domain infomercial music, especially when you fill with a cymbal clash. If it was me, I'd go for more deep, resonant percussion like jungle drums or something similar to a Blue Man Group sound. Hope this is helpful in some way.

It's not the first time without Kremlings though. Jungle Beat was without them and it worked out pretty well. Pounding pigs was adequately satisfactory.

Anime Recommendations - Mature Action Stuff
Invader_Quirk replied to Flare4War's topic in General Discussion
I'll second Paranoia Agent (a work of genius) and third Cowboy Bebop. Samurai Champloo is by the same director as Cowboy Bebop. I haven't finished it but it's good thus far. My other anime recommendations are far from mature action... although the movie Princess Mononoke would count. Unfortunately, the majority of American voice actors suck, especially in anime. I wasn't thrilled with Paranoia Agent's dub. Cowboy Bebop is excellently voiced though. -
I thought it was a little bit humorous, albeit cruel, that Retro got this project after RARE went on record saying they'd make DKC4 if Nintendo asked them to. Wonder what they're thinking now, especially since the new Goldeneye is being done by another team as well.

Sure, the first two games had some exaggerated enemies, but I never ever felt they were silly or goofy. They were pretty much all cool. They had some dignity. They didn't all have comically large chins like in 3. Taucer and I pretty much agree exactly except that I felt like a good deal of the atmosphere in DKC3 was decent and moody, excepting the aforementioned first level and a few other instances. The attempts at humor are all awful, though. 64 for me is the game that just crams silliness down your throat from start to finish.

I like all the Bongo games, especially Jungle Beat, and I think they've gotten pretty good scores. Only real bad thing to say about Donkey Konga is that they cut the songs short. I HAD heard that Barrel Blast was incredibly sloppy control-wise.

I also dislike DK64 and I have long lamented its influence on the series beyond that point. It was much too goofy. I have never thought Rare was funny, certainly not as much as they thought they were. 64's tired and obnoxious jokes really felt out of place for DK for me, a series I always associated with beautiful environments and incredible, tuba-less music. Fart jokes are lame and so are a-large-and-strong-character-that-is-a-coward jokes. You may argue that the series was already headed in the goofy direction with DKC3 and you'd be right. The stupid characters (Kiddy and Baron K. Roolenstein at the forefront) and lame dialog almost ruined 3 for me with it only being saved by the excellent level design. DK64, however, took the goofiness to the next level and also failed to impress me gameplay-wise, what with Rare's typical collecting fetish and their insistence on only giving you powers that you can only use in VERY specific places. To bring all of this back to DKCR, I am looking forward to it, but it's not a complete return to form. The goofy deflating frogs disappoint me to no end. I'd really like to see enemies more in line with the relatively realistic animal enemies from DKC. Alas, DK is now a goofy series that I fear I may never be fully happy with ever again. Curse you, DK64.

Quick thoughts from somebody who knows nothing about mixing or anything: Cool hollow sound at the beginning. Makes me wonder what's going to fill all that space! Drum beats that come in at :11-ish are ok. Seem a bit uninspired. Honestly it doesn't seem like the right beat for this atmosphere... :38 section doesn't quite work for me. I think it's the stringsy samples. :58 I like. Seems like it's going somewhere now. 1:33 slowdown and crank up I LOVE. So fitting. What's after that is good too, but after the crankup, I kind of expect something far more intense from here on out. Overall, lots of promise I think, and it's nowhere near bad at this point. Won't pass judges though. I'd change those samples I mentioned. Also, I don't think it reaches the crescendo that it leads the listener to believe that it will. After that crankup, I'd go crazy. Add some high-range bits (is that even a thing?) and try to make it more... hard-hitting, you know? It's clear I don't know what I'm talking about, but I know what I like, don't like, and want more of, and I hope this was helpful in some way.

I was worried that the speed at which the tracks were getting finished was a sign of low quality, but this preview's great! Mazedude is the greatest. I really hope the GBA Rockface Rumble mix fulfills its high potential. Reeeally looking forward to it. -

This track is really beautiful. It somehow avoids the almost-inherent cheese of vocal VG mixes completely. The ending with the strumming is my absolute favorite part. -
I'm currently working on a couple entries for The Warios. The winner gets two tickets to E3. WANT.

Added you. Is it just a coincidence that you're on FriendCodes.com as well?

Great stuff as usual. The new one in my warehouse was made by my brother. It's really lame that we're the only 2 people on the board with this game...
