sefirosu replied to Saunders's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
"HEYYY CHOCARENA!" Woo! Love it. I turned it on, put it on my stereo system, cranked it up and danced! *Listens and dances some moar* Yep, still awesome. -

OCR01613 - Final Fantasy VII "Materia Junkie"
sefirosu replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I must say, kick ass song. I must ask... Can i get the Bass tabs/sheet music for this? My friends love the song, too, but they have no music experience and i'd like to attempt to blow them away. I think I've become a "Materia Junkie" junkie! -
I've got Voices of the Lifestream along with some other FFVII remixes on shuffle & repeat. That's the way it always is. Currently listening to: Mark of the Beatsmith- Hy Bound

The Newbie Introduction Thread: Come on in and say hello!
sefirosu replied to Mahaboo's topic in General Discussion
*scratches head* Where to begin... a name I guess? Okay, well, name's Jared. Call me sefirosu (Sephiroth in Japanese) or sef, for short. Umm.. I'm 16 and live in South Carolina. I play a little acoustic and electric guitar and bass, some violin, but mostly cello. Depending on certain circumstances, I'll be up for some remix work. So if you need a cellist, lemme know! Uh... *rubs hands together* I've been lurking the site here for about a year, downloaded Voices of the Lifestream (in case you haven't guessed, my fav. game is Final Fantasy VII), then had to get an account to share my thoughts on the songs and the awesomeness thereof. Well, I'll cut this off here. I hope to make at least a few friends while I'm here! Later! -
I agree with ya Bryce. But you forgot the professional video game testers!

OCR01104 - Final Fantasy VII "Nanaki Searches for Truth"
sefirosu replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
So melancholy. So beautiful. Its amazing how you took the source audio and changed the entire feeling, but kept it true to the source. A true remix. Its beautiful. Not much more to it than that. Good job. EDIT: The string orchestra accompaniment of a Piano/Guitar duet is brilliant. Again, well done. -
OCR01619 - Final Fantasy VII "The Crossroads"
sefirosu replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
My god, I can't believe I hadn't posted a review on this one yet! Well here it is: IT WAS AWESOME! The lyrics at the end and between the two verses were cool although hard to get out of my head after listening to it. They don't have much to do with Cid, his struggle against Shin-ra or anything like that, but they're still cool. "You can't believe everything you hear. And you cannot see everything that's near. But if I believe you're gone, then you'll disappear. Still, you reappear, endlessly." "Each and everyday's the same, Life has left you nothing new. Turn around and you Will see what has become of you. Your visions of Immortality or love Left you at the crossroads of what to choose." (^ That's some powerful stuff right there.) I disliked the heavy stuff though. The main thing I liked about this was in the intro; the snare drums with the choral vocals, they seemed a lot like a militaristic march, which I liked. -
The main thing that I have against this Remix is the lack of strings. They were used so heavily in the original, so a remix of the Halo Theme without much strings just doesn't cut it. Not for me anyway. If there were more strings to this, I'd love it. The rythmic changes that were made are cool, however, and they definately were a touch of a surprise for me. Snare and bass drum at the beginning was very nice, and the use of the Gregorian chant throughout the piece was also interesting and something that I enjoyed. So on that note, good job! There's my two-and-a-half cents.

If you run a legal copy of Windows XP or Vista you don't have much to worry about if you downloaded the Auto Update back in October. Also, if you run Mac OS, or Linux, you're covered. That's according to RoadRunner Tech and Yahoo Tech. Its gonna target mostly pirated or illegal/hacked copies of XP and Vista due to a hole in the OS. Computer Associates Global Security Advisor says it'll disable Windows Automatic Updates, your AV and AS software, and Windows Firewall; it also denies access to Antivirus websites, effectively cutting off your AV updates. It will also try to make contact with a host website so the authors of the virus can take over your computer and send spam to you and from you as well as other nasty things. Good luck to all and I hope no one in this community gets hit by it and I hope the overall effect of it stays minimal. LuketheXjesse: I got the same thing, maybe this was one of the sites targeted. (See Yahoo! Tech, RoadRunner Tech, or CAGSA for details)

I use Computer Associates Internet Security Suite. It has antivirus, antispyware, antispam and a personal firewall. You can choose what to install and what to leave out. The only problems I've run into with this is as follows: 1. Antivirus (and full system Antispyware) scans take a while (depending on how much shit you have on your computer) 2. Antispam puts all your email (outlook express) into a spam folder unless you add the sender to the "Allow" list. 3. Firewall is more of an aggrivation than a help. It blocks flash objects in IE and blocks any program from accessing the internet/acting as a server (unless you add them to the "always allow" list). 4. The interface is outdated; it has seperate control screens for each component but one "Security Center" screen that gives access to all the components' settings and controls. Most of the aforementioned problems can be fixed by changing the settings and adding programs to the Allow lists when the status messages come up. The AV and AS run periodic scheduled scans but these can be turned off or set to the time period of your choosing.

OCR01644 - Final Fantasy VII "Golden Feathers"
sefirosu replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I loved this song! It was great with all the cutting and the stuttering like, "Hmmm.... let's see what else we can do to throw off the listeners..." When I listen to this my mind goes instantly back to the countless hours spent on that chocobo race track, in frustration, trying to find a way to beat Teioh... GRR! Then, the far-eastern-sounding stuff starts (I'm thinking sitar?) and its like, "Okay, let's chill for a second while our giant chickens recover... Hey Joe! Play us something cool on that sitar!" Definately a good point in the music. (then again, what wasn't a good point in this piece?) Again, I loved it, and it gets 5/5 stars from me! BTW: sorry for the sucky review, people, just go listen to the song. -
OCR01295 - Final Fantasy VII "Aeris Lives"
sefirosu replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Wow. Simply beautiful. I've always loved Aerith's Theme and this remix does it so much justice. It's one of the few songs I've heard that brings me to the verge of tears. This is brilliantly beautiful. -
OCR00910 - Final Fantasy VII "On That Day..."

This is beautiful. Simply beautiful. The work of a master, nothing less. I didn't notice at first, but the second time I listened to this I heard the flow into the Main Theme of Final Fantasy VII and I absolutely loved it! 10/10 -
OCR01667 - Final Fantasy VII "Too Much Fighting"
sefirosu replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
It is a quote from Last Order. Tseng says it before Zack and Cloud are "apprehended" The translation we are given in the movie is "Will we take freedom away from them again?" Just thought you'd like to know that. Oh and by the way, this is one of my favorite remixes on VotLs!! Excelent work!
