I took my most favorite stuff from Kid Icarus and blended it together, so there's several titles. Link to the original soundtrack if it is not one of the sound archives already available on the site - http://www.flyingomelette.com/kidicarus/kidicarusmidis.html Your own comments about the mix, for example the inspiration behind it, how it was made, etc. - Remixed by request. I did my best to bring out the subtleness of the original melodies; they were always full of great ideas but, of course, hindered by NES capabilities. I also tried to do so while maintaining the march-like feel of most of the soundtrack. The middle of the piece actually blends together two boss/dungeon themes; it's pretty chaotic and comically unplayable. Posted at:

LT Edit - Original decision: http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=65721 Hello Dj Pretzel, the Jury and the rest of Overclocked ReMix! You might remember me submitting some crappy Battle of Olympus remixes back in late 2005 that got rejected. Well, now im back with some kind of remake of the first one heh... I hope you will find it in higher quality since i’ve made some improvements to my studio. I got the idea for this one a late friday night by the keyboard when i picked up some of the abandoned (rejected) projects and fooled around a bit with some music from the game (by the way, that Sawa guy is my idol . Accidently i took this theme for a spin to end up with swing-rythm and i think it turned out kinda funny. It took a while getting a decent recording but I had a great time making it. Enjoy! Gray is correct. And I don't mean "subjectively" correct, I mean *objectively* correct - the site places more of an emphasis on production than mixes like these could realistically hope to compensate for with arrangement. Please judge accordingly - if you think the standards are unclear on this point and are uncomfortable following them as written, feel free to suggest modifications. What I've said in the past is that, if an arrangement was absolutely mind-blowingly genius (hyper mega rainbow, etc.), then it could potentially outweigh somewhat lackluster production. Now, when Sam uses chiptunes, we know it's not because he can't produce something more polished, but because he's shooting for a specific sound. That's fine. But if the specific sound he's shooting for doesn't have enough room for the types of production aspects we look for - too bad. I could submit a mix of me blowing on a kazoo and claim "OMFG KAZOOBIAS!" if you all rejected it; maybe I'd be right. Maybe it'd mean you were biased against kazoo mixes. But you'd be biased for the right reasons. There's enough gray area to post mixes like 'See Sixty Funk', which still wanders considerably outside what a straight C64 would be capable of, but it's dangerous territory, and SHOULD be, the way I interpret the standards. I don't like putting my foot down on things like this; I'd rather the panel sort it out without my intervention. But this seems like a fundamental misunderstanding of site policy. Again, if the standards need modification, let me know, but I think they clearly emphasize that production is 50% of the ballgame, and enumerate some of what we consider to be production qualities, and inherently certain genres or styles (straight chiptunes, kazoo mixes) are going to be ruled out by virtue of those requirements.

Hi I'm Chris Hammond (real name and remixer name). I made this remix of the prelude from Final Fantasy VII. It was already a cool song, but quite sad so I made it funky and ambient. It wasn't as easy as my piano pieces because those are just a case of record as I play. I've attempted to tag it, but found it difficult...I think most of it's ok. Here's the link: cheers, chris

I hope it makes it further than the last one--that is, at least to the point of being judged. It's a bit of a trance piece, which I thought fit with the simple melody, and then I layered some rock on it near the end. Possibly not enough variation, but I tried. - Velly __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Hi there. I submitting a mix about a year ago, and... It was BAD. I have no excuse other than the fact that I was a total noob. I believe I have improved a great deal, and I have decided to submit what I believe is my best work to date. Enough said. I'm going to try not to write a 5 pages like I did last time. My remixer name is Heruwath Lomgil I don't have much of a website. Just a 10 MB thing I use to host my stuff. Dark Resurrection is a Metroid Prime 2 (Echoes) mix, although I did incorporate a bit from Metroid Fusion and Zelda 64. The mix incorporates Ganondorf's theme and a bit of Fusion but keeps coming back to the Dark Trooper theme from Echoes and the Ridley theme. I know that's a lot of themes for a 3:23 mix, but I think I put them together well. This was inspired by the idea of Ridley being resurrected by the Ing to attack Samus. Then in the middle of mixing, it hit me that Ganondorf's theme would go well with it. So the basic idea behind the mix is that the villains you thought were dead are back and more powerful. Not a really original plot. Ok, I've written enough. I hope you like it. I am still a relatively new remixer, so any tips you can give me in the process would be very much appreciated.

Kenji Ito continued to amaze with his later soundtracks, but FFA will always be special. While watching a speedrun of the game, I came upon the second overworld theme during a walk in the desert. Now, I've had several FFA tracks on my playlist up to this point, but this particular one somehow fell through the cracks. The second overworld theme is amazing. Finding it this way is like finding buried treasure that you forgot long ago, just as the game itself is a treasure buried somewhere in a forgotten shoebox. It occurred to me that Kenji Ito has had a fundamental impact on me as a musician and deserves my full tribute.

Your own comments about the mix, for example the inspiration behind it, how it was made, etc. The piece started thanks to the vocal samples. They were so much in the spirit of the theme of Zelda... Then came to be grafted a whole heap samples makes for the piece. From percus realized with bottles of Coke in PET until sounds of Tupperwares while passing by plates and all kinds of crockery... with all the same of the standard sample of percus. DZComposer (Forum UID: 26798) Adan Leal dzcomposer@classicalhorn.com http://www.classicalhorn.com Game: Star Fox 64 Song: Sector X Composer: Hajime Wakai Link: Comments: V to the X power is a somewhat minimalist orchestral arrangement of the Sector X BGM from Star Fox 64. Game Info: Star Fox 64: system:: Nintendo 64 developer: Nintendo EAD publisher: Nintendo Composers: Hajime Wakai (level BGMs); Koji Kondo (Cutscene BGMs) USF soundtrack: http://www.halleyscometsoftware.com/usf/ Release Date: Apr 27, 1997 The V stands for Vibraphone! This piece is a Vibraphone feature (bowed vibes included!). The X stands for Sector X. I've always loved the vibraphone. The metallic, vibratic sound that can be so mysterious, happy, or swingish! This piece doesn't go into swing though. The reason for the psuedo-minimalism is to convey the mysterious feeling from the Sector X level. You arrive at Sector X to destroy an enemy base to find that someone beat you there and destroyed it first! So, you search the area looking for signs of what happened. The song doesn't go into the Boss battle. This piece uses standard orchesral instruments. I used the Garritan Personal Orchestra and the Virtual Drumline 2. One thing I used a lot is the "sizzle-suck" cymbal rudiment. The Sizzle-suck is a very light crash followed by a hard choke. The Sizzle-suck sounds a lot like a Hi-Hat, but it doesn't have the hard sound of a stick. Very common in Marching Band cymbal lines, but rare in the concert setting. I also used bowed vibes. Bowed vibes is when you take a cello or bass bow and physically bow the bars of a vibraphone. This produces the Vibes sound without the impact of a mallet, creating an almost pad-like sound.

Hello, I'm James Statom, age 19, and my remixing name is "radiocent." The name of the game I am remixing a song off of is Zelda: Ocarina of Time. (I'm sure you get PLENTY of those.) Anywho, the song I remixed is the Gerudo Valley theme (also plenty of those I'm assuming), and the name of the song is "Hearts of the Gerudos". Mainly, I like to compose classical/instrumental/orchestral music, but I go on a techno benge every once in a while, as you might see on MySpace. This song is, however, NOT in any way techno. It is a completely orchestrated version of the Gerudo Valley theme with much careful attention paid to good chord structure along with my own variations. It might at first sound like a rip of the orchestrated version found on one of the Zelda Orchestra CDs available now, but it really is not. I made sure to pay extra special attention to how the chords play out and how I could possibly pay tribute to the original composer, Koji Kondo. I've been working on this song now for about 2 years, just piddling with the idea of possibly submitting it to OC ReMix. I've finally gotten the courage to submit it, and, well, here ya go. The song is inspired by the way I viewed the Gerudos (and Ganon) whenever I played the game for the first time. The Gerudos are a bunch of bandits that don't know any better than to steal and pillage. However, I felt a special place for them while writing this song. Mr. Kondo did an EXCELLENT job of creating a chord structure that is repetitive (but not in an annoying way), while also expressing how the game creators really felt about the Gerudos and wanted their players to feel as well. I've tried to expose a few of the many beautiful chords that Mr. Kondo wrote with the strings and the piano, as I figured that these two instruments were the best at making chords harmonize in ways that no other instruments can. Please consider that I've only worked on-and-off on this song now for approximately two years, and that it is the first piece of music I've submitted to your web site. Also, please consider the fact that I have a full-time job and that I attend college, so I don't have the time to really dig into this piece and make it PERFECT. However, I do believe that you will (hopefully) be pleased with what I've arranged on Mr. Kondo's behalf. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely yours, James Statom radiocent P.S. - If anything is wrong with the ID3v2 tags, please let me know. I used Winamp to edit them the best that I could, but if I need to use another program to edit the ID3v2 tags, please inform me so I can resubmit my request. Thanks again.

Rewind to May 2005. I went to zyko with an arrangment idea for an 11 minute long 1970's style jazz fusion remix of Lets Go Turtles!, from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle 3. I sent over a two part sax section and zyko sent me back a finished product about a day before the DoD May deadline. We tied with Ailsean for 10th. Fast Forward to December. Zyko sends me a polished up version of the song, but tells me that he has lost the source files. Thats the last I hear from him. So what I have here is a year old collab I did with zyko thats been cut almost in half to get under the 6 meg limit. I have no source files and cant get in contact with zyko, so I cant change anything even if I wanted. Its been sitting on my computer for months, so I figured I might as well give it a try on the OCR judges panel. I think there is some clipping in the opening. It wasnt in the sax part I sent, so zyko must have turned something up to high. Since the clipping is in the rendered file he sent me, I have no idea how I can get rid of it.
