  1. My Sharona! - djp Remixer Name - Takumi Takahashi Real name - Kitsune Rogers Email- kitsune@godsoframen.com Game - Suikoden Song - The ancient village / Rune Village Comments A friend inspired me to do a video game remix, and almost instantly, I knew what song I had to do. I remember first playing Suikoden, and getting to the rune village. When that theme started, I thought I had died and been granted a new lease on life. At the time I was still new to the PSX (a sad case, I know) and was amazed by the fact that the sound track wasn't some built in midi engine, but was actual audio tracks. I must have stood in once place for a full hour as I listened to the track over and over again. In my version, I took a slightly more Indian feel, adding more Tabla, and using more Asian instrumentation. The haunting melody still floats as clearly as it did that first time I heard it. The chorus is another slight change I made. As an homage to the Secret of Mana series, by squaresoft, I added a Xylophone with just that secret of mana taste. No unpleasant after taste here. Just pure music, from a rune village Hope you enjoy it, as much as I did creating it! ~Takumi
  2. Name: DJ Mehk Email: mekilla@cox.net Hi i'm a newbie lol. Well I love RCR, and i'm not sure if this is remixed enough to be considered, but hopefully *crosses fingers*. I'm a constant listener of OCReMixes, and I love most of the stuff on your site. Anywho, if this even reaches your ears its good enough for me. Link is at the top. Thanks!
  3. Hello. I am back. No, I do not just want to chat. I have another submission. ...sorry. CON-TOUGH-ACTIN-TACT INFO: I am an existing ReMixer in the database, known all across the land as chthonic. SPRITE REMIX (anyone remember that stuff? It was totally awesome) INFO: Game: Zelda Link's Awakening (the good zelda game lol) Songs Remixed: Ballad of the Windfish (everybody's doing it), Song of Storms (Zelda 64 (windmill)), Metal Man's Stage (Mega man... 2? Never played it.) My comments: I like this one a lot. It was basically an attempt to stay faithful to a genre (Trance) while at the same time deviating furiously from it. I think I succeeded, and the end product is really quite... well, odd. Anyway, I'll let the music speak for itself because I am too lazy to think of all the notable things. Hopefully it will get some of you people out there in the Internet dancing. Oh yeah, the Metal Man reference is actually just a reference to AE's "Stainless Steel", the mix that got me interested in making music of my own. I hope you enjoy listening, because this one was fun to make. LINK: -chth

ALL BRILLIANT SOUNDTRACKS!! SO IF THIS ONE MAKES IT, IT WILL BE THE FIRST EVER KOHEI TANAKA!!
  5. Remix URL: Contact Info ReMixer name: Larsec Real name: Lars Erhardt Christensen Email address: Larsec@mail.dk Website: http://larsec.net Forum userid: 4104 (Larsec) ReMix Info Game ReMixed: Comic Bakery Game info: Original Composer: Martin Galway Copyright: Imagine Year: 1986 System: Commodore 64 (Title screen shot: ) Original soundtrack: Description: I have actually had the beat itself lying around for a couple of years now. During a project on rythm I was doing at school a few moths ago I brought the beat in and added the bass. After fiddling with some chord progression I realized I had made the chord progression exactly like Comic Bakery, so what could I do? I had been planning to use Nina's voice for a while and this seemed like a good tune to do it. I had her just ad lib the intro, improvising in an e-minor scale for about 5 minutes and then picking out the best bits and pieces, fitting them together. The somewhat abrupt first transistion is meant as contrast to the soft intro, making people go, "Wow, what's going on?". Nina sings in a norse/celtic style that I thought fit the mix perfectly; soft voice work on top of a semi-crazy beat'n'bassline. I really like the contrast and I think it worked out quite well, although not everyone agrees with me The last part, the metal one, was something I had been working on for a medley of Galway C64 tunes. After listening to it with Nina we came up with a few ideas and decided to add it with vocals as well. Again, it is meant as yet another "What the...?!?" thing; a contrast to the earlier part. "If you don't like the smell get out of the bakery" is the danish version of the "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen" proverb. If you can't stand the metal turn off the song... Yeah, I know it's kinda stretching it. It's all good, though The whole track was done in Reason 2.5 (Although Reason 3.0 was used for the mastering, all the sequencing was done in 2.5). The vocals were recorded in Soundforge 6.0... and that's about it...
  6. ReMixer name: trickwaters Real name: Patrick Waters Email: ocremix@betterthanbach.com Website: http://www.betterthanbach.com/ Userid: 436 Game: Final Fantasy VIII Work: Blue Fields Comments: /Fields of Beryl/ came to me in haste when I heard that the music curator at RPGamer.com was in short supply of entries for June in the ongoing contest series sponsored by the site. June's contest intended to incorporate instrumentation limited to three to eight 'musicians' in band-style, such as pop, rock, or ska to name a few. Being more experienced, if not exclusively so, and trained in 'classical' concert-style, undertaking the task of remixing in a personally foreign style was a little uncomfortable, yet at the same time very liberating. Having some (limited) experience performing (and studying to a much lesser extent) folk and classic jazz music, arranging in the style wasn't altogether challenging--just unfamiliar territory, with different obstacles to overcome. I composed the lead sheet in about a half hour and spent two days recording and editing the one usable take of about a dozen others for each part. The end result, performed with tenor sax, piano, and stand-up bass, isn't my most refined work, but it's probably the work of mine with which I'm most pleased. This is my first, and likely only, solo remix I've submitted to OCReMix, mostly because everything else I do and have done is too long. ^^*
  7. DJP: Blake's has requested that his remixer name be changed to Blake Perdue. - Gray Blizihizake Blake Perdue blizihizake@gmail.com Remixer ID: 8644 Download: Game: Chrono Trigger Song: End of Time 0:00-00:38 Nothin in particular 0:40-1:28 End of Time Theme 1:44-1:59 Frog's Theme 2:00-2:14 Middle Ages Theme 2:15-2:57 1000 AD Theme 2:57-3:11 Happy rendition of End of Time Theme 3:40-3:59 End of Time Theme 4:29-Ending End of Time Theme The times not mentioned probably contain some hint at one of these mentioned themes, or are otherwise hooplah sections. By the way, in the event that this does get accepted, could DJP or whoever not post it until Chrono Symphonic is released? That date should be september 27th. This is my contribution (hopefully it can be considered so) to the OCR site project, "Chrono Symphonic". For those who don't know, Chrono Symphonic is a collection of movie soundtrack arrangements of a bunch of Chrono Trigger songs. Unfortunately, there is no movie (yet? LolLOLLOL). I hope Claado Shou won't mind if I submitt his, as he stated that there shouldn't be any other releases of the songs until the project is released. He is a very dedicated person, and deserves a LOT of credit for putting this grandiose project together. It's been a year already, and from the start he was transitioning into the military. From what I hear about the first year of being in the military, it's hard to get anything outside it done, let alone what Claado was able to accomplish. This project has had a lot of talent and dedication to fuel its engine all the way to the finish line. Anyway, here is my ReMix. It's an arrangement of the overlooked End of Time theme. Although I am using basically all of the same samples as my earlier ReMix, Set Sail, it certainly isn't as linear or storytelling as many would like it to be. I tried to do what I could, but with my mediocre arrangement ability, the song will remain as spontaneous as a soundtrack done by John Williams. Actually, John Williams on PCP. I am using the Florestan String and Woodwinds, Squidfont, Roland Orchestral Drum Kit, some African Percussion kit I found off the internet, and a harp soundfont. All are free soundfonts and most can be found just by googling, or going to Darkesword's site. I'm finally 16 now, which means I can get a job. Maybe I can get "zOMG SAMPLES" now. I probably shouldn't, though; if I can't make a song sound good with normal samples, there's no hope. I've read up on EQ techniques and such, and have learned a lot in sound, but I mostly worked on making this song not boring. I hope this gets accepted. : | Sorry about the soundclick. I'm sure this awards me Groove-1

  9. Hey, new to the site so hope I’ve done everything I was supposed to do to make your life easier! Contact Info: ReMixer Name: AVSonics Real Name: Julian Hall Email: info@avsonics.co.uk Website: www.avsonics.co.uk Remix Info: Game remixed: Duke Nukem 3D (PC) and slight reference to Shadow Warrior Name of individual songs: Stalker and Gotham (Also Shadow Warriors Theme) Additional Info: Duke Nukem 3D for PC original composer Lee Jackson. Shadow Warrior Theme from PC also Lee Jackson Own Comments: The track was made after I stumbled across the OverClocked site and decided to submit something as I have some free time. I’ve probably done around 5 different remix’s of Duke in my time, those 2 tracks stand out for me. The stalker bass-line and brass and the Gotham strings were used. When thinking about Shadow Warrior I noticed that I could use a little reference from the Theme track in that also. I try to keep myself open to any musical style and hope there’s something you’ll like in this ReMix. Thanks AVSonics
  10. Game: MegamanX (ChillPenguin Stage) I used a midi from online and have done tons of editing to it. In addition I've also added a guitar solo in there. This is recorded directly from Wingroove. This is what ChillPenguin stage should of sounded like. ReMixer:Jay Liu email: c3ooo@hotmail.com

Contact Info · ReMixer name: Uboichi · Real name: Uub Jacobson · Email address: uubjacobson@quicknet.nl ReMix Info · ReMixed game: Final Fantasy III · ReMixed song: Boundless Ocean I never actually played Final Fantasy 3 a lot, so I didn’t notice this song until I listened to the soundtrack. Boundless Ocean caught my intention as it was a beautiful song, but somehow just didn’t sound right. This arrangement for two flutes and a harp is my interpretation of how I think this song is supposed to sound.

  13. I suppose I'm the bad guy on this one, so let me throw in my two cents... This isn't the first time I've rejected something that I both liked myself and wanted people to hear, but I think we did it for the right reasons. It's a good mix. It's a good CONCEPT - the Desperado theme DOES work well with the Xeno theme, no doubt about it. It's well-executed, well-produced, and creative. Problem is, it's not clearly, first and foremost, a game music arrangement. I don't want to open the floodgates to similar mash-ups, however well-crafted, where Mega Man is fused with Creedence Clearwater or Luther Vandross mixed in Final Fantasy or ABBA spliced with Sonic. It's not a direction I think the site needs to go in, and it's not a direction I want it to go in, either. The submissions standards have been revised with the addition of the following text: This does indeed suck for the mixers, who've put together some good, enjoyable music, but I simply feel that posting this would be setting a precedent for even more liberal mash-ups, and the idea is to honor game music by reinterpreting it - while melding it with external sources is a creative and musical act, or at least can be as these artists have shown, in my book it doesn't jive with the site's mission statement, and is similar to our existing rule that popular movie themes like Star Wars which happen to be used in games don't "count" either. More than two cents, I know, but the music was good and the mixers deserved a more thorough explanation.

Awesome link to the mix: Vital info: Remixer name: Vitus Real Name: Mike Gormly Email: Mgormly@uvm.edu Remix info: Game Remixed: Killer Instinct Song Remixed: Main Theme Remix name: Chiller Instinct Comments aboot das mix: This version has a dulled kick drum, and the drum programming gets mixed up a little more. The string samples also got toyed with so they're more atmospheric and spooky. I dunno, opossums.
  18. ReMix Name: Dreamstone Legend ReMix Link: Contact Information: Remixer Name: LeonHeart of the Flame Real Name: Jeremy Garren Email: jbgarren@mail.utexas.edu **Unable to locate userid # in forum profiles. ReMix Info: Name of game ReMixed: Chrono Trigger Name of song ReMixed: Battle with Magus Comments: While I originally set out to remix primarily Skies of Arcadia tunes, creativity often has a mind of its own, I find. I felt like writing something dark and ended up at Magus instead. I am very personally satisfied with this piece, which is more than I can say about most of the things I have composed. While attempting to remain fairly true to the original melody and feel of Battle with Magus, this remix is quite different from the original in at least one respect. This is written in a duple time signature rather than a triple, which effectively slows down the pace, and the melody has been modified accordingly. When writing this piece I thought quite specifically about the character tension between Frog(Glenn) and Magus. Magus' dark minor key theme is quite dominant for the first several minutes, but is eventually overtaken by a more heroic theme in the major key. This characteristic was present in the original battle theme, I have just tried to bring out the heroic side of the piece to be more than just a brief interlude. In my original cut of this remix, the climax of the heroic theme successfully ended the piece. However, I felt that Magus would not be one not easily or obviously silenced, so in the words of a hobbit who shall remain nameless - there was room for a little more. Thank you for your time, Jeremy Garren LeonHeart of the Flame
