If I am submitting my songs too fast, I apologize. I'm hoping it will take a little while before you guys get to this one. Anyway... Contact Info: Damon Campbell (Blue Magic) E-mail: Randy550@msn.com ID: OCR01325 ? ReMix Info: Chrono Cross "Dragon God," "Dragon's Prayer," "Seized by Life," "Orphanage of Flame" I can't make a direct link to the song, so you will have to visit my page to get it. Comments: Well, this is my first attempt at creating a orchestral mix and I'm sorta skeptical about it. People either like it or hate it, so I spent a lot of time just trying to decide if I wanted to submit it or not. In this song, I attempted to combine African an Orchestral percussion, which turned out pretty good in my opinion, and used creative ways of linking all four of the source tunes together to create a haunting, yet very moving, remix. Like I said before, this is my first attempt at a ochestral mix, so when I comes to the seating arrangements of the instruments and all that technica stuff, its not very accurate. If you guys decide to reject this, I would appreaciate it if you could give me a few pointers so that I can one day resubmit it. Thanks and enjoy

I realized the vgmix version doesn't have an id3v2 tag. The correct url is My sincere apologies, FalconNL ----- Original Message ----- From: Remco Niemeijer To: submissions@overclocked.org Sent: Sunday, May 29, 2005 3:44 PM Subject: Chrono Cross Magical Dreamwatch OC ReMix Title: Magical Dreamwatch Author: FalconNL Author E-mail: please do not publish Game: Chrono Cross Platform: Playstation This is my first remix, so I hope I've followed all the standards correctly. There are two points missing from the id3v2 tag (original album/movie and part of a set), but Winamp doesn't support them. I tried another id3 editor but it didn't have those properties either. I hope this will not be a reason for rejecting it but if it is, please let me know how I can add them. Thanks in advance for uploading this. Regards, FalconNL

This is an electronica remix of Ryu's stage. It has gotten a place among the must-haves at VGmix. I know there are many Ryu remixes out there, but this one is very differnt beacuse it is always changing. Also it's only 2:48 in length witch means that it dosen't drag, like some electronica mixes can. The core mellodys have there own little variations in this one. But what really makes this stand as a remix is it's mood and interesting stucture. I don't wanna give too much away. Just listen for yourself...I hope my interesting style is enough to warrent a place here among the many great songs found at your site. This song has a fade in intro, and is mixed a little low, so you may want to turn it up just abit. Welp...I hope you guys enjoy listening to it as much as I did making it. Kudos to djpretzel, and everyone else for maintaining a neat, and high quallity site. Jredd-

Who's this loser, anyways?? - djp Hello.. it's been a while. The original version of the song I chose to ReMix is amazing in my opinion so I had to change up the style in order to make my ReMix worth listening to. There is NO GYM AVAILABLE FOR LANDSTALKER and that really pisses me off. I had to rip the original directly from the game but I'm sure there were some songs I missed out on as a result. I put a link to the homemade recording of the original song. If Mr. Oji is unable to locate the song on the net then please leave the following link available so that anyone can listen to the original if they want. I will keep it on my site perminently. Thank you and enjoy!

Making music makes me happy and the first thing I did to work on my happiness again was going at another OCR submission. I know you guys haven't heard from me in quite some time, like back in the day when I used to flood the submissions board with a new one as soon as permitted by the rules (and sometimes even sooner, heh). Anyway, I tried a lot of new things with this song and I hope you enjoy listening. I am naming it after one of my favorite OCR musicians who also coincidentally did a remix of this song that long ago inspired me to join this community. Edit: New info I just had a quick request to make for a song of mine that should be coming up in the next batch of songs you all will be judging: After submitting my song I had Danny (SGX) help me get it to sounding a lot better as he took my Reason file and mastered it and made everything sounding much much better, so I would like to give him credit for that in the event that my song passes. I didn't really know how to go about doing that since it wasn't really a collab, just the same thing SGX did for sephfire's first KH mix, and in the writeup for it djp gave SGX props for his work on the song. - Ravi Song: The Wingless URL:

Hi djp, It's been a while since I've submitted, but another contest finally motivated me to get my butt in gear and churn out another arrangement (on the date of the deadline, no less). The result, which I call "Nayru's Love," was my entry for RPGamer's "Splendid Performance!" competition, and is an arrangement of the sadness theme from The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (GBC) with a cameo from the title theme of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64). The composer for Oracle of Ages is credited as "Pure Sound Inc." The original tracks are linked below: Oracle of Ages - Sad theme: http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/gameboy/A-sad.mid Ocarina of Time - Title theme: http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/n64/Introduction.mid It's not the most complicated arrangement (if you've heard my other stuff, you know what to expect), but I'm proud of the way it turned out. Yes, the introduction, is a verbatim cover of the OoT title intro. Yes, that was intentional. Right after that, the Oracle theme comes in, but it's over the OoT (or OoT-style) rolled chords, instead of the original single-note accompaniment. After that, you hear the main part of the OoT theme, and the accompaniment switches to arpeggios. Then it changes to the Oracle theme again, with some subtle OoT references at 1:29 and 1:48. Finally, we come to the OoT ending, which similar to the original but takes an interesting turn at 2:12 (I think it goes to an F# in the arrangement instead of a G). And that's the song. It's a little simple on the left hand side and a little conservative on the right hand side, but I think if you compare it as a whole with the sources, you'll realize they're significantly different in feel and arrangement. Oracle of Ages is a very underappreciated game with a great soundtrack, and both could definitely use plenty of lovin'. I hope this arrangement will encourage people to provide just that. Special thanks to Mustin for rendering the MP3 for me. Edit: After Larry and DJP had some issues with the old version, so dhsu asked if I could help him this new version. After 3 different attempts with various versions, we're finally happy to submit the final version of it. I helped edit some of the midi aspects of the piece with some tweaking of the left hand sections, and note velocities. I also did the mixing and mastering with some eq, compression, reverb, etc. Mixers: Dhsu and GrayLightning

Alex Roe aka RoeTaKa. MegaMan2 - Ending Credits. " Hi, finally got to doing a remix I enjoyed after a while. This is of the ending credits which was rather sad, but in this I create it much more brighter, happier, in a consonant style. It's very much a band style which I've been trying to hit on harder for the last few months like getting the right strumming patterns in the piano roll or getting arrangement parts right. Obviously a live sound feeling aswell. Anyways, don't really have much else to say, other than I'm still just using FL4 and ST2 if anyones curious. Cheers"

I'm a new remixer ready to break onto the ocremix scene. This is a remix of the Chemical Plant Zone tune from Sonic 2. Hope you like! CONTACT INFO: - Remixer name: K00pa - Real name: Cooper Welch - E-mail: cooperwelch@yahoo.com - UserId on the forums: K00pa REMIX INFO: - Game remixed: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Name of song remixed: Chemical Plant Zone - Comments on the mix: Chemical Plant was always my favorite level in Sonic 2. Everything from the level design, the pacing, and the music made it a really great place to cruise with Sonic. Unfortunately, none of the remixes I'd heard of the level's tune really did it justice. Thus, I decided to make my own Chemical Plant remix, in hopes that I could finally provide a good tribute to the level's awesomeness. I tried to convey a sense of speed with the tempo and quick bass line, as well as a muddy chemical feel with the instruments used for the melody. LINK: After you've traversed to the above link, you can right click "The Plant" and save it to your computer, or you can click on the link itself to listen to the song. Thx a bunch! Cooper Welch

Hey Dave, got another submission for ya. I thought I submitted this before "Deadly Promises" but I can't find the copy of the email I always save when I submit a song, so I must've been drunk or something remix url: Remixer name: Darangen Real Name: Michael Boyd email: darangen@hotmail.com website: www.darangen.com Name of game: Lufia, and the Fortress of Doom Name of song(s) remixed: Fear and Courage, The Fortress Comments: These are very familiar tunes to me, and I've arranged them more than once. But this time I put down my guitar and hooked up my keyboard. This was recorded via MIDI, not sequenced, through SONAR and I used the Hubbe Classic Grand piano soundfont. Here are some tidbits about points in the mix to help you navigate which theme is being arranged at what time: 0:00 - 0:30 = Fear and Courage 0:31 - 0:36 = Fortress hints 0:37 - 1:08 = Fear and Courage 1:09 - 1:31 = Fortress theme 1:32 - 1:42 = Fear and Courage 1:43 - 1:50 = Fortress theme 1:51 - 1:55 = Fear and Courage 1:56 - 2:00 = Fortress hints 2:01 - 3:16 = Fear and Courage Hope that helps. Enjoy -Michael 'Darangen' Boyd

Email sub file Zelda Ware o Sukui Tamae.mp3 Hello djp, how have you been? Here`s a Zelda remix. Now, the beginning is a Japanese voice actor named Yuko Isamiyama; I`m good friends with her. However, if this intro proves to be a problem let me know, but I find it to be quite amusing, and it`s not long. Ok so, thanks a lot. ZELDA: Ware o Sukui Tamae ~DJ Crono (Jovette Rivera)~

Special thanks to Justin Mueller; a total stranger who offered to post my song on his site. Hi there. Firstly I'm a big fan of djpretzel and his sweet site, OC Remix. Ok...My remixer name is CHIPP Damage and I have remixed the Guilty Gear X2 song called Writhe in Pain. It's an amazing Classical Metal song. You can listen to Writhe in Pain and my remix of it, Destroy Movements, at the following page: I hope that you enjoy it. I've composed music and played heavy metal for like 7 years now, but this is the first time to try a remix. It was FREAKIN' HARD! I took me an embarassing amount of time to make this. It was made on Cakewalk with the use of soundfonts. I don't know what other remixers do, (I'm still totally new to this) but I was hoping to find a midi of the song so that I wouldn't have to figure out that harpsichord solo note by note on my guitar. I never found the midi. hahaha! My main concern is that my remix may have strayed too far from the souce material, because I did add a lot of original material. Despite how different it sounds, the part with all the horns at 1:09, however, is directly from the original. It's the guitar part starting at 1:07 of the original song. I hope you like this and I hope we can get to know each other more in the future. Sincerely, Jahan - CHIPP Damage PS: I tried my best to make the 3v2 labels right...my mind is not so technical, so when I read about that on the site, I had no idea what it was. Please forgive any mislabels.

Hi! I am DZComposer, and this is my first submission to OCR. Though this is my first OCR submission, it is not my first "remix" by far, I have been active at VGMix for a while. I run Classicalhorn Studios (http://www.classicalhorn.com), which is the front site for my music, both original and arragement. Most of my music can be found there as there are songs there that have not even been posted to VGMix. Feel free to email me at dzcomposer(nospam)classicalhorn.com! Okay, enough about me, let's talk about the music. Mercenarios de Lobo is perhaps the first arrangement from the canceled (yes, canceled. Thank god someone leaked it. You can play it if you find the ROM) SNES game Star Fox 2 that I have seen. This game has excelent music and it can all be found in my 58 track SPC dump available at Zophar's Game Music Archive. Composers for SF2 were Kozue Ishikawa and Yumiko Kanki. For those that aren't familiar with the Star Fox series, the Star Fox team (in game, you play their leader, Fox McCloud), had a rival team called Star Wolf that officially first appeared in Star Fox 64. Well, Star Wolf actually would have made their first official appearance in Star Fox 2 would it have been released. Mercenarios de Lobo is a Remix of the Star Wolf Theme from Star Fox 2. I originally got the idea when I heard the orchestrated Star Fox 64 Star Wolf Theme in Star Fox Assault. I had included the Star Fox 2 Star Wolf theme in an earlier arrangement and I was aware that despite them being different songs, they had their similarities. So, I wondered what the Star Fox 2 theme would sound like if it was arranged in the style of the Star Fox Assault theme! Naturally, I had to do it. So, I started work on a new arrangement. However, the arrangement quickly lost it's original intent and became pretty much an arrangement of the Star Fox 2 Star Wolf theme in a mild Spanish style. That arrangement is Mercenarios de Lobo, which is a very loose translation into Spanish of "Wolfen Mercenaries". You can still tell the original intent of the arrangement in the beginning which is VERY similar to the Star Fox Assault SW theme! This arrangement is for Orchestra featuring the Piccolo Trumpet and the C Trumpet. I have tried something in this arrangement that I havent heard in a remix before (If there are others that have this, I would like to hear them!): A Cadenza. A Cadenza is an unaccompianied solo that is free from the constraint of time signature and tempo. The Cadenza in Mercenarios is for the Piccolo Trumpet. You can hear a reference to the Star Fox 64 Star Wolf theme in it if you listen carefully. I think this is getting close to book length, so I'll just post the URL for the music now. I hope this makes it! ~DZComposer

There are certainly some unique, interesting textures in this, especially percussively. An expanded version, with more time spent on arrangement as Israfel says, would potentially warrant resubmission. As is, closing w/4th no.

Agree with above, closing w/ 4th no.

Like John says, the source material IS minimal... and production here is actually pretty decent - I *like* the blend of a very phat, electric sounding bass with semi-trance elements. There's a lot that's working, but at five minutes I think the biggest problem is developmental - there's no climax and it feels like there should be one, and the melodic elements are background to the trancier riffs. I think some additions and dynamic variations - perhaps a breakdown section, countermelody of some sort, etc. - could help this out a bit. It's potentially worth resubmitting if such changes are made, as pieces are definitely clicking. As is, however, I'm closing out with the 4th and final no.
-
dynamic variation is an issue, as stated, though there's certainly things to like as well... my biggest beef would actually be the relative lack of development - even at 2'30" it feels too repetitive... closing out w/ 4th no
