After many long hours of running through the Crystal Forest to upgrade my sword to the Ultimate Weapon, I began to hear this song in my dreams. It actually became my favorite FFX song, and I was surprised not to see it already on the site. I therefore took it upon myself to bring my own piano version (from my dreams of course) to all of you. So here we are again, another collaboration between sadorf and me that we would like to see up at ocr. Here are Sadorf's comments: When i originally started a remix of this song, its was because of boredom and the lack of any mixes of it anywhere at that time. Wether or not there are actually more remixes of it anymore now..i have no fuckin clue. I was able to render a few demos, mostly for myself before i completely ran out of ideas for the song. The reason i gave S|r_NutS the souce for the song..i do not remember, but i do know that before i gave him the source, he had never heard any of my demos of it. So all he had to work with was the flp, and nothing else. After I heard one of the demos he put together, i was suprised how similar they were compared to mine. I am glad he was able to keep the feel, and to be able to give the song this much life and a good quality sound. And now my own (S|r_NutS) comments: What I really liked about this song when I first heard what sadorf gave me was the originality and style of the song. Its the ff7 battle theme indeed, but he changed it so it sounds very different, this song, IMHO, a very good definition of a ReMix. So I started working on it. The song was almost finished when sadorf gave it to me, but I though it was a bit simple so I added more layers of melodies, ambience and drums, as well as an ending. Then we submitted it to vgmix and after some time, I decided to fine-tune it up again, taking in account the comments we recieved back then. Now we have a much better product to offer to ocremix, and I think it will be a good addition. This is some kind of mesh of dream trance with hard trance. You won't find a four on the floor beat to jump to, as in most of our mixes, but the pace and the rhythmn is very catchy. Sadorf decided at first to go for a funky drumline and I took that and made it sound more electronica. This song is very old, and I think it was first made in Fruity Loops 3, finished and retouched in Fruity Loops 4, and revised again for OCRemix in Fruity Loops 5. This might be one of the last songs I submit that I have made in Fruity Loops though, so yeah, I hope you all enjoy this fresh take on the FF7 battle Scene Song. The song can be found at: If there are any problems with the link, please contact us via a PM in the OCR Boards. Thanks in advance.

OCR01386 - *YES* Chrono Cross 'To Times Once Forgotten'
djpretzel posted a topic in Judges Decisions
Hello. It's been quite a while since my first/last submission to OCR. I'm writing now to submit an arrangement/remix of mine called "To Times Once Forgotten." This orchestral arrangement borrows a bit from my contributions to the first edition of a certain Yasunori Mitsuda Tribute album, and consists of pieces from Chrono Trigger for the SNES, and Chrono Cross for the PSX, including "Star-Stealing Girl," "Dragonrider," and "The Brink of Death." ReMixer name: Vampire Hunter Dan website: http://vhdan.tripod.com email address: vhd@look.ca URL for the arrangement/remix file Thanks very much for taking a listen. -Dan -
LT Edit - Original Decision: http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=42531 hello! I'd prefer you to use the soundclick site so i can track the number of downloads. Song Name - Akoustical Dreaming Remixer Name - The Prophet of Mephisto Real Name - Brad Burr Website - www.soundclick.com/theprophetofmephisto Song Remixed - Radical Dreamers Theme from Chrono Cross by Yasunori Mitsuda I'm a music major at Houghton College in NY. I play saxophones. Been working on this in pieces for quite a long time. It's been through four or five major revisions. You originally reviewd the old version over a year or two ago, and after immense amounts of help from some good friends (props to my college people, PriZm, and Geoffery Taucer) I finally came to a place where I am happy with this song for now. So, let's see what you think of it. It's all free soundfonts (KVR-Audio for the rhodes and various main instruments, natural studios for the bass, piano, ep, and drums, and DarkeSword's site for the rest) and just has been done in Fruity. I hope you enjoy it, i really enjoyed working on this. I start with some strings, leading into some flowing piano lines. i added the rhodes here because i love rhodes (if it could cook, i'd marry the stupid thing) and then go into the bulk of the piece. lots of new harmonies, lots of things fixed from the last time this got bumped out. most everything that i could, i fixed. then down to an ending similar to what was there before, just cleaned up a bit. i've put a lot of work into this. like i said, i hope you enjoy it, because i really have loved working on this. it took me a while, but i finally finished it. have a good day. Need a comparison against the original, but this seemed solid to me... - djp Remixer name / real name: Patrick Burns preferred email address: Arkenstone21@aol.com song is attatched hey, cut me some slack here... I'm 16. I don't have any webspace! song name: Raindance in the Ruins game: Donkey Kong Land platform: GameBoy developer: Rare ltd. composer(s): Graeme Norgate, Dave Wise GBS file: www.zophar.net/gbs/dkland.zip (I ain't telling you which track... you're just gonna have to listen to the whole damn thing!) I discovered OCR last summer when I was trying to get the low-down on some of my favorite game composers. I was in the middle of a big project: I had my TV hooked up to my stereo trying to record some of my favorite NES songs. Imagine my surprise when I found many of those songs here at OCR remixed in high quality... sweetness. I had, for some stupid reason, thought I was alone in my obsession; I was in the middle of doing a Kirby's Adventure remix on my Roland KR-7 which I thought was pretty clever. So yeah, I got schooled. I pushed myself a little and transformed that sucker into something worthwhile. Christmas came along and Santa delivered. In exchange for a summer of keeping our (rather hilly) yard mowed and in lieu of a weekly allowance, I received Logic Express and a G5 iMac w/ a GB of RAM. Time to get down to BUSINESS, people! And so, after hundreds (yes... hundreds) of hours of work learning Logic and making tons of little demos, here is my first complete project on a computer sequencer. This is the underwater ruins theme from Donkey Kong Land. I'm really sorry about the levels overall of this mix. There is just a lot going on here, and it's difficult for a greenhorn sound master-er such as myself to get it all smoothed out. If it weren't for those pesky snares, then I could have squeezed another decibel or two out... but, alas. There are some places were the snares push the levels up to a decibel above the clip level, so low tolerance speakers might not be the way to go here. Btw, please test this on some capable woofers; the bass and the kick really bleed here. If any of these mastering problems are the only thing keeping this from being posted, I'd be more than willing to mess around with it a little more. Enjoy! btw, y'all... check out the entire DKL soundtrack. Unlike the rest of the series, the first Donkey Kong Land wasn't simply a rehash of it's SNES counterpart. It was a completely different game with a 90% original soundtrack. I have never been able to find out who composed which pieces, but, regardless, Norgate and Wise are two very accomplished composers. If you're reading this, SnappleMan, I know you'd be interested in track 4. Harmony edit ---- The remixer asked me to add the following to his submission e-mail. ----

email sub file Tribal Fantasy.mp3 Your ReMixer name : Prometheus Your email address : yesterdaygeneration1750@hotmail.com Your website : COMING SOON Your userid (number, not name) on our forums : No idea. ReMix Name : Tribal Fantasy - Name of game(s) ReMixed : Final Fantasy 6, Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross Name of individual song(s) ReMixed : Edgare and Mash, Chrono's Theme Part Two (Don't know what it's real name is). Your own comments about the mix, for example the inspiration behind it, how it was made, etc. This an Chamber Orchestra arrange of Edgare and Mash theme and Chrono's Theme Part Two. The song is guided by a leit motif that is repeated two times in the song (which is in 7/8 time). I arranged Tribal Fantasy as it was my own music, so the style you'll hear in the song is very personal. There are a few melodies you'll hear that won't be familiar to you, because they're mine . No loops nor midi files were used : everything has been completely written by me. I'm not going to resubmit this song anyway, the job here is completely finished, so don't ask me to resubmit it! Listen loud. Thanks to Krispy for all that drum samples. Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it! _________________________________________________________________ Acepta el reto MSN Premium: Correos más divertidos con fotos y textos increíbles en MSN Premium. Contact Info: ReMixer Name: BonzaiRob Real Name: Rob Hayes E-mail: bonzairob@hotmail.co.uk Website: www.carnivorous-cow.com (coming soon) ReMix Info: Name of Game: Luigi's Mansion Name of Individual Songs: E. Gadd's Laboratory, The Gallery Composers: Kazumi Totaka, Shinobu Tanaka Comments: Well, this is the third mix I've submitted to you guys, the first was pretty mucha MIDI file in fancy clothes and the second had no panning whatsoever. I'm on limited technology; give me a break! The mix was created with Apple's GarageBand, which has quite a lot of cool features if you dig deep enough. You can make your own synths in there and modify just about everything about them, then stick Overdrive and a Hi-pass filter on and you've got yourself something mean. I used softer synths in this piece though, I wanted it to have a ghostly choir sort of feel to it. The bass and the first drum kit are soundsets from a company called bitshift, in other words not Apple standard. I like the lab tune, it's a nice break from the darkness in-game, and the Gallery tune is actually quite relaxing in itself. I thought I'd make the lab tune a bit darker, and use the gallery as a mellow break in the middle somewhere. I realised that the lab tune is the sort of thing you have stuck in your head after listening to it once only; sorry. Anyway, this sort of tune seems to go down well at OCR: Chemical Plant from Sonic 2, Bubble Bobble and Columns are popular mixes. Well, the GCN is pretty underrepresented, and it has its fair share of annoying tunes too. I borrowed the game the day before submitting this, I don't know, perhaps you can tell. I can work quite fast when I want to. Well, I hope you like it... BTW, it's a bit loud.

Interesting ending Rather decent. I have a cousin named Sam Draper, by sheer coincidence. - djp Cannon Fodder – Heroes Lost In Victory Contact Info: Remixer Name: Kohlstream Real Name: Sam Draper E-mail addy: sammylsd@hotmail.com Site: www.kohlstream.best.cd Remix Info: Name of Game: Cannon Fodder Name of song remixed: I’m not exactly sure but I think it's called ‘Heroes In Victory’ Additional Game Info: Music composed by Joseph Richard and was for the AMIGA (1993). Comments: I have always liked this track, and after hearing many great remixes of game music using orchestral voices I felt like trying my hand at it. Its structurally similar to the original but I have re-written most of what i had taken from the original from my own memory. I Also added many counter melodies and other decorations to give the track a lighter (and sadder) feel and style. When you hear the original song in the game, it was played as you saw the names of all your soldiers who survived and were decorated, or who died and buried. I wanted to make this song sound more tragic than it was originally intended to be. I don’t own a MIDI keyboard so I had to use a program called Sibelius, which allows you to score out music and hear it back. When I had finished writing the piece I exported as a MIDI file then imported it into Cubase SX 2. From there I could add the different voices that I wanted. It’s quite strange to work like this, as I technically didn’t play anything, I just wrote it. But in saying that it is an orchestral piece, and they are usually quite precise. Both the remix and the original track can be found at that address: http://savefile.com/filehost/projects.php?pid=656546 p.s. any keyboard donations would be grateful

email file: Super_Metroid_Energy_Tank_OC_ReMiX.mp3 Hey what's up. I've been a fan of oc remix for awhile and decided that I should make a remix to see if I got what it takes. heres my remix info: Remixer Name: Matt Drouin (i'm not creative enough to think of a remixer name) Real Name: Matt Drouin E-mail Address: The13thAce@hotmail.com Name of Game Remixed: Super Metroid Name of the Remix: Energy Tank Comments: This mix was started out pretty randomly, I was messing around trying to come up with various intro techniques for a trance song, and then the song from the brinstar section of super metroid randomly popped into my head and I was like "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH"...... well actually it was more like "hey maybe I should incorperate that melody into this beat somehow" or something. There may be somethings i could have done to this to make it better but all in all i'm pretty satisfied with the way it turned out. The genre for this mix *if for some reason you haven't figured out by now.... maybe you could've spilled like peanutbutter or something on the exact position of your screen that the words hinting at the genre are located* is Trance. While it's not the only type of music enjoy, I figured trance is a popular genre on OC remix so it'd probably be a good place to start my ULTRA-PLATINUM DEBUT......................... heh... yea... I came up with a name for this song after much debate with my friend, who wanted me to call it "Brinstar Dance Club" and i was all like "N!O". eventually after too much thinking I just fired up the game and found an energy tank.... ding ding. anyways, i hope you enjoy my remix

Hey guys. Song Title: Squirrel Outta Hell I guess this is round two. I took some of the technical advice given concerning my first submission and applied it to this song with pretty good results. (Thanx guys) ReMix Info: Name of game ReMixed: Conker's Bad Fur Day (Game not yet added to the Site) ReMixed: 'Bats' (Also includes music from "Conker the King") Song Info: This is a orchestrated version of a great song found in "Conker's BFD". For those who are unfamiliar with the game, this song is used when Conker gets turned into a vampire bat and goes flying around 'pooping' (yes I said pooping) one the villiagers. This mix also has elements of the song 'Conker the King' (played at the beginning of the game) which is actually based on music written back in 1695 called 'Music for the Funeral of Queen Mary' by Henry Purcell. Game Info: Conker's very good night turns into a very bad day. He has to deal with a crazy and abusive world, all while suffering through a massive hangover. Conker encounters abusive paint pots; jabbering dung beetles; trigger-happy, scar-faced Tediz; and a belligerent giant, with only a frying pan as a means of self-defense. He is resourceful, however, and makes the best of his situation. I also attached a Pic from the game Box. Honestly sounded like a DP but I don't know FF8 as well as I should... handclap samples were kinda weak, but overall it makes me want to drink vodka for some reason.... - djp Here is a new submission, boys (and girl, you know who you are): Remixer name: Bladiator Real name: Karl Harmdierks Email: bladiator@juno.com Game: Final Fantasy 8 Song remixed: Waltz for the Moon Original song:http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/sony/ps1/ff8waltz.mid Song Title: Moontang URL: Hmm, a few brief words about this mix: I like to give new genres a shot, especially those that I see very little of on OCR. That doesn't always mean what I show up with will be good, but at least different. In this case, though, I really think I have something because it's damn catchy. ~Karl

The level where this music was played took place in a dark castle, with rain and thunder. I decided to make a remix of the song and make it a bit more emersive. It was created using Fruityloops, a Yahama PSR500 keyboard, and a lot of samples i collected over the last years. I hope you like it! Mixer: DJBren Real name: Brendan Bennett Remix Title: Timeless Suite Game: Chrono Trigger Original Material: Lucca's Theme, Sad Song (I dont know the title...played while Lucca repairs Robo), Frog's theme. Comment: Yes, I do orchestral music as well. Classical is actually one of my favorite genres. This song represents Lucca's "Lucca the Amazing" side as well as her compassionate side. It also goes into Frog's theme where it explores his aspiring youth as Glenn and his chivalry as a hero.

Contact info: Remixer Name: MFBaggins Real Name: Kyle Hanson E-Mail Address: mfbaggins@hotmail.com Forum Name: MFBaggins Remix info: Name of Game Remixed: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker Name of Song Remixed: "The Legendary Hero" Name of Remix: "Hero of Legend" Song Comments: This is my first ReMix both for OCR and overall. It is a ReMix of the beloved Legendary Hero. Since the theme has been remixed so often before, it was difficult to create something origonal. But I'm very pleased with the results. Some of the best sequnces came together by total accident, others, flowed like natural, and although that may be a disadvantage, I believe it gave me the inspiration I needed to make this mix epic enough to compete with such awesome works as DrakeSword's Ancient Hero.
