Hmm, Tuberz had Skydeck from Sonic Adventure last year and I don't recall this question coming up. On his zone roster spreadsheet I had both themes listed for him. For Sonic Adventure, I think I'd say, yeah if you picked something like Casinopolis then you could get to use all the sources from that zone. In most cases, the different themes generally incorporate some of the same melodic elements and instrumentation, so it seems like it'd be more hassle to split them up. However, like Rexy mentioned, for other games that do have distinct differences, such as the Day & Night themes from Sonic Unleashed, the 2-player zones from Sonic 2, the US & JP soundtracks of Sonic CD, and the Genesis & Saturn soundtracks of Sonic 3D Blast, then those I'd definitely count as separate and distinct themes people could pick. Although if someone does pick a Sonic Unleashed source this year, I think I'd be fine with them using both the Day & Night themes because they are more along the lines of the Sonic Adventure sources (i.e., more similar than different). Yeah, I consider those Sonic "storybook" games to be more like spin-offs and not part of the core Sonic series, which is why they were left off the list. And partially this... Awww yeah! Your 2012 megamix from the SZRC was awesome, and I'd love it if you made another one from this edition of the compo!

Sir J did make a couple random videos as well as a megamix of a bunch of the compo songs. And Gario's final song featured a lot of pancake-centric lyrics (provided by KingTiger). There was a lot of lizard and pancake talk regardless, hahaha But yeah, the compo is gonna rock!

Yeah this game is great, I got it (and a Wii U) for Christmas and have been playing it nonstop. The early levels are still pretty easy, but overall the game presents a decent challenge, and more importantly is a ton of fun. I just beat the 'main' game yesterday and am working on the levels you unlock after you win the main game now... and yeah they are damn hard The new power-ups are a lot of fun too... like Cat Mario and Cannon Mario. Plus I was really excited to see the return of Boomerang Mario from SMB3. Highly recommended!!

While it does have the "Zone" moniker, it is really more of a final boss stage, and not really a traditional zone, so I'd say no it's not eligible. I didn't allow it last time for the reason.

Yeeeeeeaaaah... I'm not gonna do that, it'd take waaay too long You guys can check out the Sonic Wiki page though cause they list all the zones by game, so you can look it up that way. When I open up the sign-up though, I'll keep an up-to-date Google Spreadsheet people can view to see everyone's picks (to make it easy to track and make your own picks) and then when each person's picks are solidified I'll keep a spreadsheet with links to themes so the participants can easily reference each others sources like I did last time.

Awww yeeeeah Just to update everyone: like it says in the first post, I'll open up the official sign-up on the weekend of January 11th. So everyone can begin posting their Top 5 Zone Picks at that time. I'll give everyone the heads-up in this thread too when the time comes. By my unofficial count, it looks like we have about 16 people that have said they are definitely interested and another 10 or so that I know might sign up. So we should be well on our way to getting 32 participants when I official open up the sign-up!

Awww yeah, especially Oil Ocean. You don't see many remixes of that tune either. I know I personally will be picking a Sonic 2 source. Not gonna say which one at this time though In regards to Hidden Palace Zone, good question!... since the zone is an actual real zone now with the Sonic 2 iOS/Android release, then yes it could be picked. However, the is the same music as the source, which already could've been chosen anyway. The music a lot of people attribute to Hidden Palace is just an and really shouldn't be attributed to Hidden Palace zone. From what I've read the Mystic Cave 2P song was originally the song that was supposed to be used for Hidden Palace before it was scrapped anyway. So unfortunately that unused track from Sonic 2 couldn't be used as a pick for this compo, since it is not affiliated with any real zone.

From the first post: Ethan I had just been trying to create awareness/interest in the compo at this point and then open up the recruitment for picks on Jan 12th. Then we'd have a 2 week recruitment window before the compo started mixing on Jan 26th. I also wanted to give people time to come back from the holidays and MAGFest and all that jazz too before getting this thing going (hence the Jan 12th date). I'd appreciate it please if no one else started putting down picks for now until the official recruitment period starts up. Thanks!
