  1. Will, "flyers", "liars", and "suppliers" are a few examples of words that rhyme with "choirs", FYI
  2. SuperiorX Flight of the Peacock (Cyber Peacock in Observatory Hall [X]) Overture 20XX (Crystal Snail in Observatory Hall [X]) Disco is NOT Dead, Disco is a Giant Metal Seahorse (Toxic Seahorse in Observatory Hall [X]) Sigma's Enigma
  3. I don't think there will be a song from me this week. It's been a very tough and long week and I've had a handful of things go wrong, so I've had no time at all to work on anything. Sorry guys
  4. A lot of fun songs this week, good job everyone! I was loving the playlist order too... wildfire's track felt like a natural extension of Maverick Astley's #funkbias
  5. SuperiorX Never Gonna Give (Up The Funk) (Gravity Beetle in Cyber Maze Core [X5]) Cyberfunk (Splash Warfly in Cyber Maze Core [X5]) Caine Train (Rainy Turtloid vs. Cyber Maze Core [X5]) Sigma's Enigma
  6. I appreciate Jameson, Darkesword, and you guys weighing in with ideas. As a compo host and participant myself in the past, striking a balance between all the responsibilities of everyone involved and keeping people motivated is tough. Voting and promotion are the things I've always struggled with the most. I like the idea of providing more feedback through the voting process, however I agree with NutS that even the current system is too complicated and restricted. I fully appreciate and agree with the desire to bring people to the forums to vote with the hope they'll stick around and get involved, but I'd argue if that's even working (if that's the intent). In each of these compos, it's always just (some of) the participants and a handful of forum regulars that vote. And as the rounds go on, voting consistently drops off. It seems that any automated process to encourage more people to vote and participate would be beneficial, however with the trade-off knowing there could be ballot stuffing if a public/social method was used for voting (which is a legitimate concern). For me personally, I struggle with keeping my motivation when there is little voting activity, little feedback (I also fully realize I haven't provided feedback, so I'm part of the problem), and little outside promotion/awareness of the competition. I'd be lying if I didn't admit that a large part of my motivation comes from trying to outdo the other competitors to get votes. I also realize I don't have any ideas or suggestions on how to make any of these things better, I'm merely stating my opinions and observations
  7. hah! I hadn't noticed that until you said something, but the opening drum hits are reminiscent of the Battle Theme and the Cyber Maze melody A reminds me a bit of the main melody in Zed's theme.
  8. Hey Shariq, are you still planning on tallying the votes and posting the standings? It's somewhat discouraging not being able to see the results after each round. Just curious. Thanks!
  9. SuperiorX Leap of Faith (Vanishing Gungaroo in Sigma Palace [X8]) Subtle Haystack Tibulation (Frost Walrus in Sigma Palace [X8]) Requiem for a Reploid (Shield Sheldon in Sigma Palace [X8]) Sigma's Enigma
  10. RUINOUS RUINS!! One of my favorite SZRC 2014 compo tracks! Glad to see it posted!!
  11. I know, but you have to use the forums, instead of something quick and farther reaching like an online poll or social media. But I know that would have it's own host of issues.
  12. I was wondering where all the voters were too That's the only thing discouraging about these compos... I wish there was another way to promote and make it easier to vote, without compromising the integrity of the competition or worrying about people just spamming votes (if it wasn't held on the forums). At the very least you'd think all the participants would vote...
  13. That'd be cool Mike! Just please name all of your segments "with NutS", i.e., "Mixing with NutS", "Mastering with NutS". If you ever do segments with guest artists, they can be titled "When NutS aren't Enough", i.e., "When NutS aren't Enough: obsessive snare drum tweaking techniques featuring special guest Jivemaster"
  14. I was going to ask what the HECK happened to you and Dustin? I was hoping you guys didn't drop out of the compo
  15. Thanks Beth! That sounds awesome! I guess I'm behind the times as I didn't even really realize there were *good* sounding vocal libraries, period. This is one of the weeks you can just do whatever you want with your mix and claim that "this note" was from the other source theme
  16. If this hadn't been the same week I was mixing for SFRG, I totally would have made a track. I love this source and have always wanted to remix it.
  17. I could join an 8pm ET listening party for a little while. That sounds good. Unrelated, Jason, how did you do the choir in your song? Did you, or someone, sing and record that or is there some crazy choir sample library out there? Was that Latin?
  18. SuperiorX Vector Point Engineering Sigma Fortress (Blizzard Buffalo in Final Weapon [X4]) Sins of the Syndicate (Gravity Antonion in Final Weapon [X4]) Mind Flip~ (Cyber Peacock in Final Weapon [X4]) Sigma's Enigma
  19. OK, just subadubdubbed mine. My process this week was: Do What I Do Nailed it I can't wait to hear all the mixes!!!!!
  20. Me too! My track turned out even better than I thought. I'm not going to hype myself up that much though, everything in this compo has been amazing, haha. I can't wait to hear what everyone came up with this round!
  21. I'm actually quite pleased with my track. I just need to spend today fleshing out the arrangement, working on transitions, fixing up a few troublesome sections, and then doing a bunch of finishing production touches. The style is quite the departure from the two sources, so I'll be interested to hear what people think. I'm glad you got your stuff sorted out Mike!
