  1. Forget about appreciating it for its time and maker, its just plain GOOD. Honestly, Scott Peeples is a good ReMixer, and he ReMixes a good piece of VGM to come out with this. You know what? It's GOOD. Big surprise. Don't look for flaws, just listen to it, and you'll be okay with, trust me. It's called "enjoying a ReMix."
  2. omigod NOOOOOOO!!!!! MY EARS!!!!! How is it possible to ruin that good of a ReMix??!?!?!?!?!
  3. Since I got this from the torrents for the first 1000 some-odd ReMixes, I am unfamiliar with the source material, but still went "Woah. Another unexpected style for a ReMix. And this one's GOOD. " I would not expect this sort of thing to come from djp, who I know for his jazz-ish elec-piano skills and percussion. This most definitely gives a ghetto feel. The percussion is there, but the jazz-ish stuff? Oh, there it is: out the window picking itself up off the ground. Awesome mix.
  4. Great song from an all around great remixer. great transitions with the many themes make this easy to follow and great to listen to, and the organ was a great touch.
  5. Great mix! provides an interesting vibe at the beginning, and the guitar is great, despite all the criticism it's taken. this is one of the more kickass CT mixes i've heard!
  6. It takes a bit of time for this to connect for me, being the metroid fan I am, but it's pretty good considering how old it is.
  7. quite true. metroid metal is interesting, but its basically only, well, metal. we take all sorts of stuff, but there's no stuff to take (yet.)
  8. no problem. I actually need to help out a bit seeing as how christmas is in, like, a week, but i'll look into it. and i actually started mixing on MP2 Echoes! but it's weird. I messed with some instrumentation from torvus bog and now it sounds insanely different. synth pads can go a long way.......
  9. okay, good, someone's already thought of that. and at a convienient time for me, as summer is my recreational season. mixing stuff included in that. either way, i'd better get off the forums for a bit and start mixing!
  10. ok, fair enough. i thought it had changed significantly, but things like that can get complicated, and i see your point. and this could just be turned into an album/project/thing. I mean, super Metroid has Relics of the Chozo, so why don't the Prime games have one?
  11. I'm working on my usual method for the GF Trooper battle music (i.e. listening to a soundtrack or MIDI of it for a week to get a feel for it then actually mixing) to get a trance mix in there, which i am surprised has not been done yet. and why is submerged temple bad? I like it (although I personally think the actual torvus bog theme and title are better.)
  12. I thought it might, but i haven't heard it. probably just not paying attention fully since it is usually a work song. And I have noticed the sourced tracks, but they have been significantly changed (well, the torvus submerged temple anyway.) also, i recently heard the metroid prime trilogy title theme. also would make a good mix. the only reason i haven't played the game itself is because my wii is broken. : (
  13. Yes he does make great mixes, don't get me wrong, he's one of my favorite ReMixers, but there simply needs to be more takes on these particular games, and many people might bring something with a different feel into the mix (no pun intended.) Plus more people working on a theme means that collaborations are going to happen and many tracks are going to show up. Darkesword only currently has three Remixes of the sub-series posted. There is a shortage here, and it needs to be filled.
  14. hey! where are all the metroid prime mixes? I see three total, and all by the same guy. more would be awesome, especially from the first two, as those soundtracks are my personal favorites. the title themes are probably a good place to start (i'm attempting to start there myself) but really anything would be great.
  15. ok, the 4 marathon mixes up are great, but the fact that we have ONLY those four is kinda disappointing. we need to fix that. AND nobody has remixed Marathon II: Durandal's menu music. that is an absolute MUST. infinity i'm not sure of, mainly because i havent played it extenxively (yet), but marathon and durandal are musts.
  16. It's barely recognizable for the first, like, half, but the nightmare theme was pretty good. still, something else like the sector 1/intro music would be pretty cool, and a super metroid norfair with the nightmare theme would be pretty cool (reason why i've got that in the works).
  17. yes! thank you! for once in my life, someone agrees with me! anyway, Fusion had some great soundtrack for the various sectors, one of which i've already started ReMixing. but a mix from the experts like Dakesword or AmIEvil or djpretzel would be pretty cool. any mix would be cool.
  18. There are plenty of good Crateria and Maridia mixes out there. you just need to look. and could you define "too many" please? the reason there are so many mixes of the same tune is because you can do ANYTHING with that tune. on this site, you've got techno (energy tank), synth-jazz (zebesian midnight), wierd spacey-type stuff (brinstar bonsai garden), atmospheric creepy kinda stuff (brinstar [dreams in red]), bubly piano-synth stuff (all the world in one girl), and ray lynch kinda stuff (one girl in all the world). check them out, and tell me again why that's bad? because i don't see what is wrong with that. that's GOOD that we have that many mixes and they're so diverse.
  19. I'll put this simply: I loved the Metroid Fusion soundtrack, and i think that the fact that there are no ReMixes for ANY material from the game whatsoever is kinda disappointing. Some remixers need to get started on that, and soon, because i can guarantee we'll have some awesome ReMixes if it happens. Sector 1 would be a great start!
  20. Hey, i'm another new-to-the-community guy, but I've been getting ReMixes from OCR for about six months now. The welcome mat is appreciated! : D
  21. Zelda mixes are 90% of the time awesome, and those themes are my particular favorites (other Than the title), so yeah, someone does need to do that.
  22. well, the brinstar themes are pretty good, but some mixes of maridia would be kinda nice (as long as they aren't nearly as creepy as Children of the Monkey Machine did it). as for crateria, a mix of that would be interesting.........
