  1. If I overlooked another post on this subject (which I swear I didn't see), strike this from the forums :] Here are that explain it. Lots of similar stuff in them, but I'd say both are worth watching.Yes, the law is still in it's infancy and certain game developers will probably add clauses to allow fans to do as they have always done. However, we should keep a close eye on this one.
  2. Here is some sheet music and here is a MIDI for the rest of you too lazy to find it Bonus points if you make it sound like Skrillex.
  3. So, I'd like to join the Turntable.fm room but all I found on your profile was your artist page. How would I go about adding you on Facebook?

  4. Damn, that would be cool. I never made it that far in the game, but that song sounds awesome. I'm not too sure about the remixability of it, but my favorite music from this game is that of Lava Powerhouse. Now, isn't submission material, but it seems to be heading in a good direction.EDIT: I think I like that cover because it reminds me of mAEt b0y
  5. The hell? A Banjo Kazooie / Banjo Tooie thread with no mention of of Hailfire Peaks? These were a couple of my favorite songs from this game. (well, basically the same song, but hearing the same song with different instrumentation can yield different ideas)
  6. I'll see what I can come up with. This time around, I might focus on production more than anything else because my production values are sorely lacking right now.
  7. Nice job on your entry. I entered the compo knowing I was essentially doomed to lose even before any of the matchups, but that's alright. I'll be hanging around the regular compos for a while now.

  8. Yup, totally saw those votes coming Best of luck to everyone left in the compo! I'm off to work on my skills in the regular compos.
  9. Good luck to you as well, although I have a sneaking suspicion that me wishing you extra luck won't be necessary.
  10. I'm hell-bent on making sure the future final product of my remix kicks ass. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to seeing what my fellow Proto Men have produced.
  11. I even fixed my stupid file name mistake in time DX That was definitely interesting. I just wish I started a bit earlier so it sounded more complete. Ah well. While I doubt I'll be moving on, I believe I have a good idea on how to turn my entry into a legit drum 'n' bass track in the future.
  12. All of the above! xD This is the biggest thing I've tackled in music thus far. The difficulty I've been having in getting the track put together is very representative of that, but I'm still sending mine in no matter what. It just might not go in until tomorrow morning.
  13. DAMN. This is good, which means the final product is going to be even better. Keep it up!
  14. Today is Tuesday and voting doesn't even end until Saturday. I think we'll be good.
  15. I forgot that my laptop doesn't have Kontakt Player on it yet, so I finished up my entry as best as I could this morning. Woo for actually subbing!
  16. Some surprise events popped up this week that made it a bit more difficult to work on this. I also spent way too much time looking for guitar VST instruments. I'll sub something within the next 14 hours, but it won't be a finished product. It'll be on par with my other compo stuff, though.
  17. Yeeeeeeah, we'll see what I can do! Crash Man was one of the Robot Masters I was hoping to stave off for a while xD

Regardeless, you'll get nothing less than the best I have to offer! :-D

  18. Ah SHIT. xD Crash Man was one of the Robot Masters a bit lower on my list. Ah well, this will be an interesting experience regardless. Best of luck Chernabogue!
  19. You're welcome, Darke. Last five words, completely. In high school (I'm in college now), I introduced myself to loop-based production (first type I ever did) and this became my pride and joy for the longest time. Over time, I realized that a song based on repetitive loops (or one that uses canned beats) sounds like shit. I kinda lost motivation for a while because I wasn't sure where the hell to go next. One day, I finally said "screw this shit." I decided that the only way I was going to get better at music was if I jumped in. I did, hence the reason I'm participating in the GRMRB even though I don't have much music experience and even though the only compo I've contributed something to thus far sounds like this. It's all mental! Dive into it and figure stuff out as you go. If you don't know something or if you can't find something somewhere that explains it, don't feel bad about asking! I've asked a few questions thus far and I'm far from knowing as much as I feel I should know. However, I know I'll figure it out over time.
  20. I can't quite afford those at the moment, but I'll keep 'em in mind for future reference. As for the 'unique' guitar sound, I thought it was pitched way down but my crappy imitation was throwing me off. Intentional at the time of posting, although the notion of a sampler had slipped my mind entirely. Good to know. I'll make a point to avoid Hardcore once I find a better amp sim. First in line is Guitar Rig 4 Player. I might do that at some point, but not now given my current hardware config. Thanks for the info, guys. For the time being, I'll make due with Kore Player, Kontact Player, and whatever free stuff I can find at the mega thread I forgot about. EDIT: Ah shit, I forgot about this one, too.
  21. If someone can find or at least make the majority of a MIDI I can use to remix , I'll gladly tackle it!
  22. After messing around in FL Studio tonight and doing a bit of research, I tried and failed to make a certain guitar sound. Sure, I managed to get a *decent* guitar sound via Sytrus and Hardcore, but nothing quite like what I'm aiming to emulate. Crush 40 has a darker sound than usual in Shadow the Hedgehog and as a result, their guitar sound is more bad-ass than usual. Specifically, the final boss music has a unique guitar sound that I would love to be able to replicate. If it is possible to emulate this with VSTs alone, how do I do it? If not, what guitars do I need to get my hands on? As a second question / last resort, what about a guitar sound? Same questions.
  23. Hmm...I can see this going in some fun directions. The Mega Man bracket doesn't start till Saturday. Count me in.
  24. Dunno if you found the bitcrush effect yet, but I did! http://replay.web.archive.org/20050316235337/http://www.kvraudio.com/get/694.html The Internet Archive is a GODSEND

  25. Win or lose, this is EXACTLY how I want this competition to play out for me Listening to the Proto Man bracket themes nearly nonstop, I feel like I've come up with some pretty awesome ideas. Two of 'em might even be worthy enough to turn into legit ReMixes and I haven't even started working on them yet. Yeah, I should probably start messing around in FL Studio to make sure I can pull off the two remixes, but what better way to learn something than just about drowning yourself in it?
