  1. Fatal Frame 3 was pretty good for the startle factors. shit would pop out when you least expect it. your only defense is the camera obscura which you need to enter a 1st person mode. It's a hindrance although minor, isn't that minor when your in a rush or just "SURPRISE RAWR". The soundtrack is good nightmare fuel and on a good surround system... yeah. JP trailer
  2. It's funny because it's true. I can see booze almost everywhere in Maine. Here in New Brunswick only the government can sell it at their liquor chains. Australia has some crazy game laws but When I lived in South Australia I could get booze in the many "DRIVE IN" liquor stores... and I mean, MANY. My suburb had 6 of those in a 5 minute radius. it's funny how games get attacked by laws so much while people can put songs on the radio about riding people's disco sticks.
  3. just found this on the playstation blog today. Passing it along as it's game music related http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/03/10/acidplanet-com-killzone3-remix-contest/
  4. I had interest initially then saw various in game footage (thank you youtube) and was less interested then I start reading stuff like this http://elder-geek.com/2011/02/hyperdimension-neptunia-review/ those of you that are getting it be aware of that "You can't heal yourself" thing ""With no way to just use a potion or the first aid skill, you instead have to rely on an auto-heal system. Using AP points, you can set it up so your characters heal themselves when their HP drops below a certain percentage. However, this is limited by how many AP points you have. At first, you only have 30, so until you level up, the best you can do is 30%, meaning 70% of the time, your characters will accept the drop in HP. Now this wouldn’t be so bad on its own–it’s a problem that can be solved by grinding low level enemies until you get enough AP. But there’s another fatal flaw in the system. Your characters are unable to recognize that their health is below a certain percentage unless an enemy hit is the cause. That may sound complicated, but essentially what it means is that you can have the auto-heal set up, but your character will remain stuck at 1HP because the game only “checks” your HP directly after an enemy attack. Furthermore, you’d better remember to set up the auto heals as soon as a character enters your party because otherwise, you’re pretty much screwed. It’s a prime example of a developer trying to fix what isn’t broken. The manual heal system has functioned just fine since the 1980′s and there was no reason to change that. As a result of the colossally stupid decision on the part of Idea Factory, I ended up getting stuck in the third dungeon with no way to move forward or backwards because two of my characters were stuck at 1HP and I was powerless to help them, despite having over 50 potions in my inventory.""
  5. um... yeah, just take a look http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/01/sega-urinal-games/
  6. Well there was a WTF thread about this before so here's the latest news I found. http://psp.ign.com/articles/114/1144404p1.html a PSP title by the looks was Final Fantasy Agito XIII, and renamed to 0
  7. We should all go play some awesome E.T. on the Atari 2600
  8. I can't speak for others but I for one still play the ROMs of FF6, Crono Trigger, Secret of Mana and Secret of evermore. Hell I spent 80$ when I was a kid for the FF6 soundtrack alone. Those games were great I don't know if it was the limited formats that made you fill out the blanks on how the characters sounded like, how they were personality wise. Now it's all done for you in a "Like it or else" type of way. I remember reading a heated debate on how Japan lost it's storytelling skills, maybe it's true. I feel more attached to the stories of current action adventure games compared to the new RPGs just feels like something is missing... Oh and who didn't feel like they fucked up bad when the whole world collapsed in FF6. I seriously thought I had failed, that i did something wrong and ruined everything. Or in Crono Trigger when you fight Lavos in that doomed battle where Crono gets eradicated from existance. Losing your main character, I had never seen that back then and did feel like "Shit... what do I do now..?" good stuff like that Edit: Wow is it just me or is this topic starting to get some major aggro?
  9. you might also consider that 3 months back you could buy 13 in japan for 500 yen, roughly 5$. you don't usually see main titles drop that badly unless there is a reason behind it. Possibly like Neko said, the overflow of trade in returns flooded the market.
  10. I have to say it looks much better than 1 but a rather serious problem has surfaced as soon as I tried to get others to play online. A game that boasts online usage can barely do so. people you invite are plagued with constant, never ending loading screens that you either restart the game or get kicked. I thought it was just us at the start but more and more people reported the same. I heard a few even complain that it happened to them on local co-op... not sure how that would happen. Also there is a almost as popular "pod" bug that seems to be caused by the LBP1 profile data swap. People saying that the game becomes unplayable and/or it doesn't save your LBP2 progress.
  11. *looks at calender* They moved ahead the "beating the dead horse" session by 6 months, I hate missing memos. Seriously though, keep beating that horse until it becomes undead and eats all our brains. ...wait.
  12. the best Squaresoft moments for me was Final Fantasy 6, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana and Secret of evermore. That time frame of games was good times. Oh the golden SNES age, how I miss you.
  13. At the rate they are going FF series will become a interactive movie, maybe your game controller could be a DVD player remote.
  14. Every time I hear "Square Enix" Lately they seem to push the "Could be worse" bar even higher. Like them taking Tomb Raider and slide in Kain and Raziel fro the Legacy of Kain series, Raziel busting caps in peoples asses... erh... okay.
