  1. This compo debuted strongly with 7 entrants. Let's keep it going! Round 2 starts in just under 4 hours. You know you want to...
  2. Although there aren't any acapella mixes on the front page, there have been a few WIPs that were pretty far along. This one comes to mind off the top of my head http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=25583 @blazerh44: You've definitely got the ability to make something for the judges. As has been said, though, this is a pretty straightforward cover. Well done, but going to need some interpretation if you're looking to get posted.
  3. Newest version here: __________________ Original Post Pretty (brand) new here as a contributor, but I found the site about two years ago, and have been waiting for the day I had the time, motivation, and computer power to actually put something up in this sub-forum. The Grand Robot Master Remix Battle 2011 was a great chance for me exercise both the discipline and ambition to really get something done. I've gotten a good variety of feedback so far just from the voting stage - some appear to genuinely enjoy it as is, others offering constructive criticism, and those who have nothing nice to say have been nice enough to say nothing at all. (Actually, even if you hate it, I'd like to hear why.) I have lots to learn, especially about production, so I opened this thread for anyone who's willing to offer detailed feedback on ways to make this better. Thanks! 4. Voters - if you have the time to comment on both mixes, I really encourage you to do so. I'm mostly here to say a huge "Thank You" to the people who have. Guys, I can't tell you all how excited I am by the comments on my mix. Yes, most of them had plenty of (legitimate) criticism along with it, but considering this is my first attempt at a remix at all, any positive feedback is really motivating. As for the production/arrangement/style issues, I still have lots to learn, especially about production. Don't need to take up anymore space on this thread for that, though. I'll be putting this in the WIP forums if anyone has time to pick it apart for me and help me flesh it out. It's been an honor being a part of the contest, and a big congrats to my opponent Neblix, both on a slick entry for the compo, and his first appearance on the front page, just a few minutes ago (Just out of curiosity, Neblix, because it's been bothering me...do you spell that with a capital or lowercase 'n'?)
  5. That's what you think: Check out 2:30, then skip to 7:39.
  6. ....and, I'm in. Technical difficulties are the best. This is my plan. Seeing as you're in my way, neblix... But really, I'm very excited to hear your take. Not sure what anyone's expecting from me, but I hope (and think) you'll enjoy it. Mostly, I need all the feedback I can get, which is why I'm so excited to be in this thing. You have no idea.
  7. I think there's a price for that: Round 1 pits you against Geeky Stoner.
  8. I'm assuming you're looking for better quality than this, but hopefully this helps: http://jessedeacon.com/images/Snapshot%203.jpg Your best bet would probably to find someone with an emulator who can grab a screenshot. End of game saves are available here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps/199299-wild-arms/saves Good luck!
  9. A friend of mine introduced me to Avatar: The Last Airbender a couple years ago, and I got hooked FAST. (Read: 61 episodes in under 5 days.) At some point afterwards, I was inspired to revisit one of the final scenes and give it the "Fantasia treatment". After several takes, I got something that hit most of the key moments pretty well. Here are the results: (Of course - SPOILERS) http://tinypic.com/m/ejsitv/2 (My apologies for the quality of the recording...best I could manage at the time.)
  10. Mostly, I wanted an excuse to play with Photoshop. A little work got me here: http://i55.tinypic.com/23syqsw.jpg

I'm sure NintendoMasterGC can get sharper results, but it might give him a better idea of what size you're looking for. His originals were 250 x 112; this is 300 x 91.

  11. I was also really looking forward to getting started. Can't say an extra week to get more familiar with my source won't be helpful, though. Also, thanks for the sig, Trigger!
  12. Well, it depends a lot on who your first match-up is against, too. I've been wanting to get into this scene for a while and figured compos are a great way to expedite the learning process. I've done a little composition and have just started to learn Reason, but my first submission here will be BY FAR my most ambitious project yet. I think there are a handful of us newbies scattered throughout the brackets. I'd be thrilled to make it past the first round but was never counting on it. You know what? Screw first-round elimination. You should get started on that mix now. 10 weeks SHOULD be enough time for you to have a chance.
  13. You all make quite a team to put that together so quickly. It would be impressive even if had taken several weeks. Kudos! (Though you may want to remind the webmaster that you didn't win "unimously"...)
  14. I'm guessing you've found a solution by now, but just in case you or anyone needs to know: 1. Right click the audio icon, and select "Recording Devices". 2. Right click in the blank area that pops up and select to show both disabled and disconnected devices. 3. "Stereo Mix" should appear. Right-click and select "Enable". For visual assistance: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/39532/how-to-enable-stereo-mix-in-windows-7-to-record-audio/
  15. A few good ones off the top of my head, though I don't know if they're popular/recent enough to find easily: Big Fish - Danny Elfman Amelie - Yann Tiersen Great Expectations - Patrick Doyle
  16. Just make sure he's allowed to receive these "goodies". My sister made me a lovely batch of cookies while I was in boot camp, and my drill sergeant said he wasn't hungry. So they went straight into the trash.
  17. Oi! Look at this thread gathering all that dust. Terrible. C'mon peepulz! This track needs some tender, loving feedback so it can hit the front page. Luhny - I downloaded your update around Christmastime (first chance I got due to this thing the Army does called Basic Training). I came back today to see if this thing's going anywhere to find I never left a comment. My bad. So...YES. A lot more direction and variation. The drums are way too mechanical, but you clearly already know that. Really, you've taken this past the level where I can offer much helpful critique. I'd say touch up the guitars and drums, and set to mod review. Really excited to see LotW get some love. Hoping to get out a WIP of my own sometime in the next month or so.
  18. Seriously. That guy can do more in two hours (See?) than I can do in 2 weeks.
  19. Legacy of the Wizard will forever hold a place in my heart as my favorite game I could never* beat. Also, it's soundtrack is top notch. (*That's how I'll remember it at least. Finally managed to do it last year.) You're not alone: http://http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/top10/2198.html
  20. Crash and burn, baby! Round 1 will be my first mix EVAR. I hope you are not disappoint. 1. Knight Man 2. Spark Man 3. Quick Man 4. Bright Man 5. Gravity Man (Just for fun: )
  21. Found this site about two years ago, and have been wanting to get more involved ever since. The pieces are falling into place, and I'll hopefully be getting my hand on this ReMix pizza very, very soon. For now, here's 50 anchovies.
