  1. I liked the ambient reversed piano break a lot. =D Also, at 3:59 I heard some retrigger and tapestop... I wish that could have been brought out more! =(
  2. Good Morning sounds like something from Yoshi Touch 'n Go, particularly because I remixed that with Chimpazilla.
  3. Well, I don't like it, but I don't hate it either. Some minor issues with the bass production, but hey, sounds good otherwise for dubstep fans.
  4. Yep, the snare has too much low frequency content. It's not that it shouldn't have low frequency content as that's where the power is, but there's certainly a problem showing, with the sample(s) used. 0:38 gets really muddy really fast. The intro lead also needs to change, as it gets pretty irritating playing alongside the wobbles. It's also good to change it so people won't get bored with the same instrumentation throughout the whole song. I'm also not entirely convinced the timbre of the wobbles are matching the rhythm or timbre of the drums, nor the other way around. 1:04 brings in some pads, but the bass is still extremely prominent, and things are just too hard to distinguish. You need a better bass that covers a smaller frequency range, though just as effectively. 1:28 doesn't have much of a leadin other than a white noise sweep, maybe. It's also a great moment to change up the soundscape to something less aggressive. 1:44 was not really expected, so it would be jarring to some people. Try thinking of a smoother transition. Tapestops are really hard to make work well. And of course a lot of ocremix listeners seem to be biased against explicit, constant Dubstep (if it's poorly made), so it might possibly be better if you put it slightly in the background of more ear-pleasing instrumentation. It'd be a good idea to check out these tracks for guidance: http://soundcloud.com/isworks/shreddage-2-nuclear-dubstep-by http://zirconstudios.bandcamp.com/track/augment
  5. True, but I don't even hear the slightest bit of ambience. Even hip hop should have reverb, just enough to make all the drums sound like they're in the same room. It doesn't necessarily have to be obvious to the average listener.
  6. I can totally make it! Buuuut I'm gonna offer up the Nexus tablet to the second place winner if I happen to get first place, simply because I'm content with an iPad for my university stuff. Gonna be my first try at World Cinematic Glitch Chiptune. Time to see what EWQL RA can really do. : D
  7. Sounds literally dry to me. The drums after 0:25 have almost no reverb, if it's subtly there already. 0:35 is most obvious. The portamento saw at 0:37 is too dry and plain, and so is the chiptune beeping. As a result, it's too loud. A little more reverb should make them fit better. The twangy saw synth at 2:44 - 2:47 is also too dry (and plain). The drums are too repetitive. There isn't much to listen to other than the lyrics, but musically, everything sounds consistently the same. There are no new atmospheres that I can hear. Good start, but there's a lot more to do before this is ready for the panel. Maybe referencing could help you spice things up a bit.
  8. This is a fun remix. After manually trimming the high frequencies just a tad, it's pretty sweet. =D EDIT: At 4:49, excuse my language, but I'm just like "WHAT THE FUCK. DAMN."
  9. Oh, good, someone did suggest Smoker's Delight. I was going to get that someday. I love using When Alien Drum Robots Attack (Vol. 2), Platinum Percussion, and MPC60 stuff, but this input is great for me and for anyone else looking for samples! Thanks!
  10. Did you know that zircon's 'Vessel of the Void' seems to be oddly mastered? It's not actually peaking near 0dB. I'm not sure if it's a mistake.
  11. The bass is much better. 2:04 seems to have quite a bit of reverb. 2:10 has some brass that I can barely hear, which means everything is too loud right now.
  12. You can do that with creative delay. FL Studio's Stereo Enhancer and Stereo Shaper can do that really well. You can even pan to the 'back' with Stereo Enhancer.
  13. The drums are a little quiet in comparison to everything else, the snare and kick in particular. See if you can find a better bass at 0:09. That sounds kind of like a vocaloid bass of some sort. Maybe an FM bass might work better. Can you try EQing out the frequencies you don't need in certain instruments? Try thinking about what instruments for which you want certain characteristics to come through, and EQ it so that everything other than those characteristics is not very audible, and that can leave room for other instruments in those frequencies. It's less reverbed, but it still sounds muddy. Can you try to get some better stereo separation? Try widening some sounds or panning some sounds. It sounds like many of them are panned center or near center. Here's an example of some stereo separation. There are two different pads. One is panned center, one is wider. The wider one plays second and fourth. Notice how the bass is more controlled and more headroom is available? https://www.box.com/s/218eczoxl79gt2ysj6ii
  14. I'm always looking for new and awesome drum samples. What's your favorite drum sample pack of all time, and what does it contain?
  15. I'm not sure I hear too much of the source in there, but I do hear it. The production's great, and the half-time section was a neat variation on typical halc mixes.
  16. So good, despite the loop-like feel of the D&B drums. Can't blame zircon---he probably was pressed for time writing this track, what with all the sample libraries he's been working on. Probably my favorite part is 3:28. =D
  17. Awesome, I love glitch songs like these, especially because I recognize a lot of these effects. Makes me want to get dBlue Glitch v2.0.2. I'm surprised the frequencies were so well-tamed.
  18. Sounds good so far. I personally feel like it's missing about 5% treble or so, because I can hear that the stuff above around 16000Hz is a little bit low. (And looking in my Param EQ, yeah, it does look like the song never reaches above 16240Hz. Not a huge issue, but I did notice it right away. Your overhead drums should reach past 16000 since they have the possibility of being high quality samples. You can also have more low end, perhaps, below 60-ish Hz. That's all I got. The clipping at the end is fixed.
  19. The sounds are very generic/plain, without much textural development throughout. The writing is pretty simple, and the main lead is very grating to my ears, probably around 8000Hz. Abrupt ending so far, if it was a WIP. I personally would consider this far from done, but it's a start. Don't get discouraged though, keep trying.
  20. Well, now it looks like you have a good guitar tone. You'll need to bring out the bass presence some more though to make the combined sound more powerful. I can hear the bass when it's playing by itself, but when the bass and guitar are playing at the same time, either they're playing different notes or the bite from the bass isn't coming through. Now, the piano is more exposed sometimes, and it really sounds mechanical. You'll need to adjust the velocities to make it sound more natural and phrased.
  21. Geez Mokram, hope everything turns out alright with you! Dx GUNSTAR!
  22. Sometimes I have this happen if I save a project at the borderline of too much RAM, and when I reopen it, the largest library already unloaded itself.
