finished Ra's Judgment (Ethnic Fusion Mix)
timaeus222 replied to timaeus222's topic in Post Your Original Music!
Okay, thanks! Is there anyone else who wanted to say something? -
It would have been nice if the choir synth was more balanced with the piano, but it sounds good so far.

I find requiems more religious than dirges. However, it seems your song is still a WIP because you took it down.

The finished remix (not for download because it'll be part of the new album ) -
Ra's Judgment (Ethnic Fusion Mix) This will be available with its full music album sometime before May 16! In the meantime, please tell me what you think! Comments I wrote in the ID3 tags: "This is my favorite song thus far on this album. It was inspired partially by zircon's new songs 'Devil's Spirit' and 'Shadows'. A lot of plugin instances were used; in fact, there were 19! 7 of Zebra, 7 of Massive, 1 of Harmless, 2 of FM8, and 2 of Safwan Matni's "Oud". The drum samples were gathered from Breakbeat Paradise and FL's factory drums. Big thanks to zircon's drum layering tutorial, because these drums are insanely epic. The aim of this song was to go for an ethnic, Egyptian sort of feel, combined with epic atmospheric pads, breaks, and glitch effects. I really liked how this turned out. - Timaeus"

No problem! And if you ever want to do any collaborations, if I have time I can do that too! -

That's not a bad remix at all! There's some really creative glitch effects and high pass effects in there. -

The remix link is broken, but the source is actually entertaining to listen to. Can I get permission to remix the source too, for one of my upcoming music albums? This would be an example of what I occasionally do: http://www.box.com/s/4e2b8fa0a6524abd531c I do all sorts of music though. Heavy Metal, Electronica, Ambient, Retro, Jazz, and others. -
OCR02318 - Super Metroid "Ashes to Ashes"
timaeus222 replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I haven't posted my own review of this yet? I could have sworn I have. Oh well. Here goes: --------------------------------------------------------- This remix leads us in with a nice wah-wah bass and some slow drums with the perfect touch of reverb. There's no sudden volume jump, which is nice. Then the melody comes in, which gives an eerie feel. Then of course the wub-wub comes in, and I expected some variation soon; heh, I didn't know what hit me. I loved that there's always a sense of progression in this. There's nothing we can skip. Then at 1:00 a bass from... Massive? I think I may have used this one before! It could be the Dynamite Breaks preset with some modifications to make it short and to remove the automated panning. That's a kewl preset. Oh, and I think I sense some dBlueGlitch and GrossBeat in here. I'm also seeing some ArtsAcoustic Reverb! :} 2:39 - This is such an insane section. I could listen to this for weeks and still not discern all the esoteric complexities that interweave within this monstrous masterpiece. xD 2:50... That bass that feels like it's closing in on you... What is that? That is awesome, and it really stands out at the right moment. And of course, it ends with no tail. This is a remix to remember for ages to come. - Timaeus -
@Sixto: It's something you would like, so I figured, why not send it to you? @ProtoDome & Sixto: Wow, that's weird. When I click it, it doesn't work, but when I highlight and C+P, it works. Try that. EDIT: Aha, I see the problem. That's weird... The link "says" http://www.box.com/s/fb979ec307a26902cfa0, but the link really pointed to an old deleted MP3. >_> Boxes. Pfft.

Actually, there ARE some really good harmonies in there. You just can't hear them because of the strange reverb you apparently hear. I'll see what I can do to fix it in the future. It's the effects from a Guitar Rig preset ("Psychedelic Delay"). I'll just need to modify it. And I am aware of the structure problem, but it's just hard to figure out a working structure without having a remix of a similar style I previously made that "had a good structure". This is my finalized "structure", but I'll be modifying the feel of the structure later. I'm aware of that echo. It's from a Guitar Rig preset ("Psychedelic Delay"). I'll just need to modify it.

finished naruto techno remix
timaeus222 replied to JamiesRemixes's topic in Post Your Original Music!
I liked the rain sound effects. For some nostalgia, I presume. It seemed that 0:48 came suddenly. Try having some sort of precursor to it. It's a big contrast between chillout and drum 'n bass. Perhaps fade in the bass at that point. Try to lower the mix level on the bass to about 90% its current value. It's very distorted right now. In fact, try putting a limiter and making sure nothing hits its threshold value. -
@electric concerto: No worries. I just don't want to feel like I'm insulting anyone or being insulted. The electric piano was under the effects of a virtual guitar amp. It was weird that it sort of worked for a while there; the preset was actually called "Vocal and Piano", so I thought it would have worked since it improved the soundspace. @Pixel Panic: Yeah, I do know that criticism doesn't have to be positive, but I just meant that if there is criticism, there should be positive assurance to keep the remixer motivated. Thank you for your criticism too. I'll see if I can do something different with this, but I REALLY want to start off the remix with that electric piano. Maybe I can fix the EQ of everything for now. :{} I'll also try some stuff with reverse cymbals and new drum samples. EDIT: Will add V2 here later.

I never tried to be an ass. All I said was that if you don't know what you're talking about, do some research, get experience, and contribute with positive motivation. This is a remix community, not a criticism-heavy forum. I just want information from a sure person. I even said "No offense" by the way...

I knew the snare needed work. Just wanted to make sure. The song isn't overcompressed until the last three notes. I'll fix that. The electric guitar "sample" isn't really a sample. It's an acoustic with a virtual amp. Perhaps you could suggest some amping features you would have put or something. I have Guitar Rig 4. The saw wave lead was meant to not have too much resonance, but I guess I could increase the treble some. The arrangement shouldn't sound too random if you listen to this song, because it was kind of based off of it. It honestly doesn't seem like you know what you're talking about. You weren't sure of a lot of things, and you seem to only advise to your preference. No offense, but there are things you said that aren't true. Electric Pianos can sound really nice, and there's no reason to not have an Electric Piano intro other than if it seems prolonged. Also, a sax might be too bold for this type of remix.

This is one of my favorite themes in Black/White, and I just got some insanely cool ideas on this! I do plan to submit this. :3 I have a hunch the drums may need modification, and maybe the tonal suitability, but that's just me so far. I'm using FL Studio. Totally influenced by WillRock and Diggi Dis. ;D Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Sj8DpYZu_Q "Mirror 1" "Mirror 2"Remix: http://www.box.com/s/jsyp66te9t945fk12gi6
