  1. This thread totally didn't fall to the 2nd page. I'm totally not bumping this.

Getting achievements from heroics is both a lot of fun and cussing. But I really want a proto-drake <3

Edit: I think the other WoW thread got eaten away or something. I blame Arthas.

Need a new WoW thread anyway. One that keeps better track of where people are (server wise) since the guy who made that one disapeared.

  2. My FPS is starting to go through shit now when I go in Dalaran. That's a shitload of people in there now.

Dammit you guys, level faster! xD

I got an email today that I need to get all my assets out ASAP. I probably won't be on until Wednesday-Thursday, though I'm probably gonna log on for a bit now :o

starla probably won't be on until Wednesday or Thursday either :(((((((9999

  3. So I'll rely on wikipedia to back me up, and then I'll shut up.

Desaturated means it's closer to gray. Totally desaturated colors are a shade of complete gray. It's true that pale colors are desaturated. They're closer to the brighter-greys, or white, but still pale. HOWEVER not all desaturated colors are pale. Dark gray is totally desaturated, but not pale, for instance.

So, like I said before, desaturated DOES NOT mean pale. Ganondorf is general portrayed with a darker skin-tone, which can be close to grayish, often somewhere between desaturated green and brown, but never PALE.

This is, of course, if I'm understanding what you're trying to say.

Regardless of whether or not he Nintendo intended him to be green-green, desaturated green, grey, brown, or purple the reality of the situation is if he's not within what we define in our heads as a realistic range of color for skin pigment (within the bounds of reason, and assuming we're putting him in a realistic 'live-action' setting), then it's going to look weird. The difference between making Mystique in the X-Men movies look like a darker blue and a smurf. And given Ganondorf's history. Being a boy raised in the desert, it would make sense to make him darker, because you don't run into many light-skinned people in the desert. I'm not saying he needs to be BLACK, or even middle-eastern looking, but definitely darker than most latins...and less orange.

Things that aren't nessacarily "real" but don't look "believable" ruin the entire setting. This is in the same vain as the clothes.

  4. The pale in "pale greyish-brownish" applies to the color, not his complexion. In the above picture his skin IS pale "greyish-brownish". Most people say colored olive skin tone. But it certainly isnt rich in the above. It's pale.

Desaturated color =! Pale. His complextion isn't PALE in that picture, just all the color values were brought up, to make EVERYTHING lighter. Even the BLACKS and DARK GREENS have pretty light areas.

  5. Is it the pale greyish-brownish part?

I don't know when Ganondorf would ever be considered "pale" in Zelda. Growing up in the desert and all.

Also THIS is official OoT Ganondorf art, too:

    Ganon.gif

I also hate how everyone's clothes in fan-made movies look like crap. Not that they look like they were crappily made, but more they look like they were crappily made YESTERDAY. These people clean laundry in buckets. They dye their clothes with flower pigments. Link is constantly rolling in dirt and riding horse back. How is it his clothes look like they were cleaned ONCE with color safe bleach?

  6. can anyone even show me any actual video game art in which ganondorf is green

I mean come on it's as if nobody has even been paying attention

Sometimes SHADES of Green, but never GREEN green. People just have terrible color vision or something.

  7. The CG in this is actually REALLY impressive. But seriously

    Seriously.

    Seriously?

    Seriously.

WHY is Ganon ALWAYS bright fucking green? Maybe a desaturated Olive, or a straight up brownish, or something...oh I don't know...a little more BELIEVABLE than fucking BRIGHT GREEN. I could stab some people for that shit. Who on your art direction staff let's that stuff pass?

  8. ...but I can't deny how much I love watching my screen fill up with numbers when I have Shadowflame (like mage's Dragon Breath) with Seed of Corruption and Rain of Fire blowing everything up. Doesn't please all the tanks though :D

lol, you should hear Matt on Vent when you're doing that stuff. "There's no way Valerie'll be able to pull aggro off me" "What is she just seeding everything?!" "Did she just do like a dragon breath wtf?!"

Non-stop lawlz. PS: We got dedicated heals now. Just need Matt to spec prot now >_>.

  9. Yeah, I'm gonna have a little rant here....sorry if it offends anyone, I really don't mean to. Everyone here does a great job, but....

WHY is it that the judges' decision section never lets you listen to the actual mix? It seems horribly elitist, almost to the point of saying "you don't have a right to listen to anything unless we say you can".

In fact, I remain convinced that the judges each have their own little stash of remixes, knowing that the public will never hear them, that they secretly like alot but rejected on the grounds of music theory or some other technicality even though they sound good.

It's always been something that's pissed me off about OCRemix, ever since I started visiting. Is there really something so wrong with letting people listen to things and make their own minds up rather than dictating whether or not they have the right to based solely on your personal opinions? the fact that some proportion judges say "yes" to something is proof enough that a similar proportion of the public would enjoy it, so why deny them that? You don't have to host it on your own bandwidth, just let people see the link to the song.

As Rovozian said, stuff like this is precisely why I made ReMix:ThaSauce. OCReMix is looking for a pretty specific kind of remix. Granted you have a good amount of a freedom, you have a LOT of specific (subjective) criteria you have to meet.

That doesn't mean the songs are BAD or no one deserves to hear them, that just means they don't fall within the standards for what makes an "OCReMix" which is more than what most people would consider "just being a good song."

OCR is what OCR is because that's how they chose to be. That's what's always worked for them, and that's what they're going to continue doing. There's no use getting upset, and bent out of shape about it, because it's not changing, and that's COOOL, because there are other options out there. They're just not nearly as well known.

  10. Sad that you never get to make it MAGFest? Want to catch MAGFest's most celebrated bands? NOW IS YOUR CHANCE!

Powerglove, video game metal cover band, who've been at MAGFest 5 and 6 just recently kicked off a national touring opening for none other than power metal band DragonForce.

I realize that DragonForce isn't particularly everyone's cup of tea, but Powerglove is absolutely A-MAZING, and seeing them on a large stage in a real venue is absolutely breath taking.

Having been a fan of DragonForce since sometime in 2003, and being a HUGE fan of Powerglove since I first heard them in concert at MAG5, I just went to their show here in Orlando last night and I was one of the funnest concert I've been to in a LONG time. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone else who loves video game music, and who can handle the awesome-ness of their metal sound.

Oh, and Turisas was pretty awesome too. I was unfamiliar with them up until now but all you need to really hear is they're a Finnish metal band dressed like vikings with an dude playing a violin and a girl on an accordian...

Plus they do a sweet cover of Boney M's Rasputin:

  11. Which converts roughly to $40 some American dollars. This game comes out in less than a week!

    New Stuff:

Touch controls! (Class mode available too.)

    New ending!

Anime cutscenes from the PS1 version! (Can be toggled on and off)

    An online monster battling mode!?

I wish I could go forward in time a few days and buy this already.

    Only $40? I'll pass.

  12. I think what's really important here is...previously, some of the coolest content in the game was only enjoyed by people who didn't really care how cool it was, or what the lore was, but rather just to be the first to do it and say they did (the guy who hit 80 first didn't even quest, nor is he interested in questing at all, he just want to raid to raid. These guys could be playing any MMO with no lore at all and the same game mechanics for all they care). Doing things like this not only allows people who're actually interested in the content to EXPERIENCE the content, but with the heroic 25-mans it also makes things more challenging for the more hardcore PvE pro-squad players.

  13. What *is* a relevant issue is that they didn't have everyone at level 80 yet, and undoubtedly didn't have all kinds of epic gear. I remember first doing Karazhan: my guild had trouble with some of the later fights, both because we were still learning them and because of gear. Even going with people who had completed Kara on mains but had alts in greens and blues, some bosses like Curator posed a challenge.

Skill and experience or not, the fact that they can waltz in with crappy gear and wipe everything suggests things are too easy. Raiding is less about skill and more about group coordination and attentiveness, so the fact that TwentyFifthNovember can get through it quickly means that any guild with average gear who know how to spec right and are coordinated enough not to screw up can handle all current in-game content with relative ease.

Compared to the Burning Crusade where Vashj and Kael posed fairly significant challenges, Wrath is probably on the easy side.

Crappy gear I think not. They're probably in ridiculous amounts of Sunwell Gear. This whole expansion thus far has been less scaled itemization wise. Guilds in full sunwell probably won't even see an upgrade until heroic Naxx. With TBC they re-did a lot of how stats work (stam specifically) so we saw huge jumps and changes. By now they've gotten it nailed down pretty well. I was just joking with my friend yesterday about whenever you see someone wearing "new gear" you can tell right away that their gear is bad because I haven't even gotten NEAR an upgrade, even for some of my Kara stuff, and I'm almost 74. What I HAVE found to be *close* will take away too much HR for me to want to commit too, especially since I've gone from a 10% chance to hit to an 8% chance to hit without changing my HR AT ALL yet.

It's also important to remember that:

A)Not only did these guilds ru preTBC Naxx, they've also been running these raids on the beta CONSTANTLY. There was never a point on either realm I was on (Premade server or normal PvP beta server) that one of the "big name guilds" wasn't farming one of these raids. Hell Blood Legion (Illidan's big name guild) was in Naxx LAST NIGHT and of course they had no problem because EVERY day they were in there on the beta.

    B) It's also likely that they had enough people to break up groups into the 10-mans and make sure they geared specific people rather than spreading the loot around with random rolls or DKP. I'm almost POSITIVE all the tanking gear went to 1 or 2 tanks, and all the healing gear when to 1-2 heals, and the rest was given to a few solid DPS. With all these guys already having a ridiculous amount of HR and DPS, gear up a few tanks, get some crazy +heals, throw in some new world enchantments and gems (which are EXPONENTIALLY sicker) and it's not really all that suprising.

What this DOES mean, though, is that the way to gear up for Naxx is to go BACK and do Sunwell...which is kind of exciting to me since it's the 1 raid I've never gotten into.

These world firsts mean close to nill. The REAL "world firsts" were acquired monthes ago. The REAL challenge will be seen when they start adding Ulduar, and Icecrown, and all that jazz.

  14. So, how are you guys liking the expansion so far? How's the new capital? (There is a new capital in Northrend, right?)

Not many people in Dalaran yet. I was there on the beta, and I can tell on my server it's going to suck...hard. It's small. VERY small. A lot smaller than Shat. I've actually been enjoying lag-free Shat, lately, but I am NOT looking forward to Dalaran :|

  15. Anyone here use Raptr? I'm curious about your experience with them. If you're not familiar:

They put a social spin (sound familar?) on gaming, so like you can manage your collection, make a wishlist, connect with friends, and they have a client you can download that tracks the games you've been playing.

Anyway, would like to read your thoughts if you've used the site before, and if not, your thoughts after looking ;)

Wow...I've been looking for something like this for foreverrr.

    UPDATE:

Man with this, and Netvibe's Facebook Connect, I'm more embedded into Facebook than ever. I just wish PS3 had a better way to keep up with what you're doing like XBOX360 does (I assume that'll come in time). All I need now is a Facebook app that'll post my Last.FM tracks RIGHT to my mini-feed (or something similiar) and I'll be soooo good, lol.

  16. hurray! long ass fucking queue. i finally get in, make a death knight, watch the intro, turn around just in time to see the lich king standing there before BAM! disconnected from server!

    AWESOME

There's already 2 DKs in Northrend. Furi is neck and neck with Hzm for first to 80. They're both just into 75. When someone gets a server first it announces it across the server. I saw some guy get 450 fishing server first.

  17. how do they condridict each other

    i lethon the server

and bloodmyst isle the island just north of the Exodar...not the server

o, and wtf happened to WoW today...is it just the release of the new expansion that made everything lock up

...and lethon is one of the few servers i saw that was up. god damn, and i was going to start a new character today :(

It means that getting to 20-something take practically no time at all when you know what you're doing.

You shouldn't be on Bloodmyst Isle past 10-ish or something anyway, by that time you should've boated over to Darkshore or something, but yea queues are out of control because of Wrath right now.
