This has been the most stressful week of the year at work. This has been the most stressful past few months at work. I've moved apartments in the last month. I hate the gauntlet theme this week. I hate my maverick theme. I have had a few drinks tonight.  
Needless to say, I will be working nonstop on my song til the early morning tonight, and most of my waking hours tomorrow. Dammit I will not let these things come between me and my compo entry!

One day I'll learn to not be over-ambitious in compos.

"Never Gonna Give You Up" is definitely growing on me.  It's a catchy little tune, and I found myself getting a little smile when it came up in "You Know the Game".  I'm finding myself looking forward to it more than to some of the Mega Man X themes.  I'll be sad to see it go.

I'd take a syringe and shoot straight to my veins, but unfortunately I can't get it quickly enough so just hit me.  Bear with me I'm sickly from listening day in and day out to music I can't get to leave. So is it just me,  or did we hijack this whole compo spontaneously? But seriously, these myths we create will be legendary. It's scary just how far we've come in these weeks, becoming so viral we spread to the streets, with just a few beats from the myth lab.   Chorus:   Rock Hard Mandrills,  Bringing it down, Rock your body, To our hard sound,   Verse 2:   We go triple bard when our mixes bombard, straight from the yard they call us rock hard, we're the man drills, we got mad skills. My entry was submitted early and unfinished due to a death in my family. Not looking for sympathy; just informing due to the rather rough and incomplete nature of my entry.

I blame Eino and Tuberz for coming up with the team name and making me join in on it. The alternative was getting tubed
 
Having said that, don't feed them this kind of inspiration, it's at your own risk!

Next time the Maverick Astley team does a compo, they should find a way to slip in John Cena, seeing as he's the new rick roll.

I totally read that as Millennium Puzzle problem.

Actually the judges on the panel encourage people to post their source usage because its quite possible that someone will miss source usage. People aren't robots who catch everything, if its clear or not. Its not just about whats obvious, its how well the listener knows the source tunes. Don't forget that people who are voting on all the remixes have over 40 sources to memorise. At some point we're going to make mistakes and that could mean the difference between a 1st place, 2nd or 3rd place vote. Saying that the remixer should have done a better job or that the music should speak for itself is silly imo because we're ALL liable to make mistakes no matter how much the remixer has tried to make the sources as clear as possible, particularly with remixes that use more than one source tune. A little nudge in the right direction from the mixer does no harm at all imo.

And like I said, if someone needs one, then the remixer should've done a better job there.  People like mazedude and schabubula do some of the most complex arrangements of video game music out there yet you can distinguish the source quite easily.  They don't writte essays for people so they can interpret their music.  Their music speaks for itself.  But like I said, to each their own.  I tend to ignore these when voting, regardless of whether I could hear the source or not.

I basically do it for 2 reasons: show you guys where I used which parts of which source (which is helpful for voting if you're not fully familiar with the sources) and I'm considering submitting (some of) them to OCR. For the latter a source breakdown + an idea of the amount of source reference (like timaeus did in percentages) helps out the judges and it also gives you an idea if you have enough source usage in there (if you don't have a lot of source usage, chances are the judges won't accept it)
