  1. As long as a system exists, there will be someone who tries to abuse it. I don't know if I like this, even though I think the motivation behind it is fantastic and would solve the #1 problem of online multiplayer games. I can see someone getting ostracized unjustly because (s)he is a good player and people would want to eliminate that person from the game. It just seems to be giving power to ragequitters rather than the legitimate players.
  2. In other words, he's Yahtzee's "Nice Work" guy in the sense that we're probably never going to know who he actually is unless we randomly bump into him on the street?
  3. I play fairly late, and I never have had more than 100 CE in my account (usually running on mist, like everyone else seems to do). I felt bad last night because HoopyFrood joined my party right before I (and another member of the party) took an elevator back to Haven. Generally speaking, though, I don't mind playing with someone else. As much as my wrench wand is getting attention, having a 2-star weapon you can't upgrade really sucks. I'm thinking of getting a flourish and going down the rigadoon path.
  4. On my run today, I picked up every type of shard EXCEPT blue, and I need three more of them to make the autogun (as well as an iron gear, but I feel like I'll get another primal spark before I get a blue shard at this point). On the plus side, I've got a lot of materials, many of which I'm unsure of if I'll need in the future. I know about the lines appearing in front of a monster, but usually seeing those means it's too late to defend (and I'm surrounded by three enemies in tier 2, so I've learned that constant defending results in a broken shield alarmingly fast). I'm getting better with the Kats, and the giant trees are one of the few enemies that don't surprise me. Those enemies with the car horn noises are fun to fight (Devilites, yes?), but I usually die against them.
  5. I am horrible at defending. I put up my shield expecting a hit, the enemy doesn't do anything, then they suddenly lash out when I attempt to get in an attack. Do they know you're defending? T2 is not the picnic T1 was.
  6. Man, I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything at that moment. My parents listened to Amy Grant all the time in the car when I was a kid, so I wasn't expecting a song I was so familiar with to come up.I hear it a little if the DKC2 music were slowed down, but that's still a stretch.
  7. I think that's one major reason why I'm so attracted to this game - It's the least time-sinking game I've played since Goldeneye multiplayer.
  8. Done and done. I don't know why all the enemies are stingy with the blues and reds, or why I'm not randomly selected for them more often. And the giant guild meetings are, I suppose, the major purpose of such a hall. But from my experience in other MMOs, sometimes they have merchants or some other form of guild perks. I've never been a major guild person (Honestly, this is the first time I've actually joined a guild, and I play Guild Wars, for crying out loud), but I'm surprised there isn't more to it.
  9. Actually, if you could just send me 2 blue shards for a defender, I'll send you back 2 shards of a color of your choosing. I've got tons of green, if you need it.--- I just did my first walk into the guild hall. Not bad. I'm not crazy about the view from the balcony, but at least I don't have to battle past a ton of people to use the alchemy machine. So, other than meeting people and making stuff, is there any purpose to that hall?
  10. I just need a tier 2 shield before I can descend further. I spent all of my energy tonight making a magic cloak (with extra freeze protection) and a wrench wand. I had other things to do, so I didn't mind the night "off."
  11. I... wasn't going to say anything. And because I have been having trouble with the games I've been trying to play all night, I can't add the last people on my list. So, I'm not ignoring you, Garian. (I'm Thylacine, by the by. The nice thing about having a screen name of an obscure extinct creature is that you can grab it when public launches like this happen. As long as Australians aren't on the ball about it, that is.) On a related note, is anyone noticing the game isn't playing music when they first boot up? Or is it my computer being not friendly?
  12. I haven't quite figured out the voodoo to do that without someone present like NeoForte did. I'll work on it tonight. (I'm a bit of a late-night gamer, too, so we might not cross paths for a while.)
  13. I'll go in on that. How do I find you guys, exactly?
  14. Heh, Puzzle Pirates having two different pay systems always threw me for some reason.
  15. I still haven't touched the free mist energy that I got from the start, so I'm cool for now. Although, I do recall there were some items which were explicitly forbidden from use from non-pay people in Puzzle Pirates. I haven't seen that yet in Spiral Knights, but it seems like I'm perhaps what many would call a "casual" gamer in this?
  16. I'm surprised how much I'm okay with the energy limit. I don't like sinking a lot of time into one game, and it seems like I hit an energy "wall" right about the time I plan to quit anyway. The alchemy that requires a full day's worth of energy might be a problem, though. I take it the recipes that require 200 energy are going to be impossible without shelling out a few bucks/crowns on top of whatever I'm paying for ingredients and the cost of the armor itself? And as far as the graveyards go, relevant link about one of the guys who made the game (but might not be directly responsible for the Phantoms).
  17. I think you should be threatening the remixer with death, not the project manager.
  18. I gave it a shot. You can probably figure out my screen name, if I choose to play it again. I can see this energy thing is a real problem. I used all of it going down several levels, and I had fun with it, but... Man, I don't know how much fun I'd have with that game if the energy issue becomes a serious problem. But I'm looking back on it and thinking that I was enjoying myself, and it wasn't as horrible of a timesink as other online games.
  19. If I REALLY like the game, almost always. de Blob was a game I 100%-ed and I don't regret the time I spent doing it. If it's an okay game or an enjoyable but insanely difficult game, I'll consider it if I want to play it and don't want to start a new save file or something. I won't break my neck trying to do it. Trauma Center games fall into this category (In other words, I don't try to S-rank everything - one run is good, along with surgeries I want to re-attempt). If it's a game I am okay with, or don't like, I'll just beat the main boss/objective and call it good. If that. Mario Baseball games fall into this category. In short, the more I like a game, the more I'll play it. If there's something I enjoy 100%-ing, I may play a sub-par game to do so, but never if it's complete torture.
  20. A Pikachu costume wouldn't be too bad. A yellow jacket, some bunny ears (which should be available right around now) colored apropo, and painted red cheeks.
  21. He referenced that fact in a much earlier review. He even posted the script as the background in one of the shots. I'd look it up, but I'm right about to go to bed. I'm pretty sure it's one of the first 20, if that helps.
  22. I agree with this, but I would recommend a day or so earlier than the game release. That way, people will turn to the album to tide themselves over until the game release. Afterwards, not so much. The day of could be a little tricky, because while you'd have the extra push in publicity, you'd have people wanting to play (and, more importantly, listen to) the game when they got it. So, March 1st to 5th would be an ideal release time. Tend towards an earlier day in case of Murphy's Law complications.
  23. Most online scoreboards are. OSNAP My first thought was, "Wow, Mountain Dew really will be a gamer's drink at the end of the day."Followed shortly by "If they make a porn game out of this, my last shred of hope for humanity will have faded."
  24. They're making us wait so long that Hylian Lemon is doing pointless and terrifying calculations.
