  1. Wow, I'm really impressed. Awesome work everyone! It's great to see another Zelda album!
  2. I don't really know too much about keyboards, so I don't have any specific suggestions. I bought one that was relatively cheap ($100) and that would fit on my desk, mine has 49 keys, about 3ft. I was also looking for a keyboard that I could just plug in and start using in my DAW, which is FL Studio 10, with no hassle. I bought one that was essentially just the keys, without built in samples or software. I can send you a link to the one I bought if you'd like. Obviously, there are much larger keyboards with fancy samples and software, knobs, modulation wheels and the like. I opted on the simple side because I do all that stuff in FL. It depends on your needs. I hope that helps!
  3. Do you have a midi keyboard? Actually playing the part yourself should go a long way.
  4. Incredible, I absolutely love this. Its remixes like this one that prove the superb talent of the community.
  5. I made a twitter account just for the occasion, which I'll probably never use unless OCR needs my help again. I tweeted and shared on Facebook. I hope the account is up and running again soon.
  6. I'm kind of intimidated to make any complaints about something so good made in such a short amount of time. The only thing that sort of bothers me are the hi-hats, they seem maybe too loud? I have such little experience remixing, so maybe it's just me. This is awesome though, I've been into 80's a lot recently, so I enjoyed it even more. I can't wait to hear the finished song!
  7. Wow, good work. I have no complaints. I'm sorry I don't have more useful feedback, but I still wanted to give my support. I'm no judge or anything, but this seems far enough from the original to me to be accepted.
  8. Yeah, Morrowind's story is a bit better. It was much more subtle, which I liked.
  9. This game needs some love. This song is especially awesome. House O' Cards: The battle theme is great as well. True Mirror: Once I have more experience, which could be a while, I hope to remix at least one of these.
  10. Wow, this thread is on page 7 after two days. I thought Oblivion's story was good, unfortunately there aren't enough NPC's to properly convey the story. The idea of the heart of the Empire being invaded by hordes of Daedra is epic. I can imagine thousands of Daedra pouring out of Oblivion gates, raiding cities and the country side. While a desperate Empire fights for survival, armies of Imperial Legion soldiers pouring in from across every province to defend the heartland. Where every moment brings the world closer to the brink of destruction, with you at the forefront of putting the crisis to an end. I think Bethesda took on more, in terms of story, then the current technology could handle. The story had incredible potential.
  11. Yep, that's true. I just think the repetition could be more interesting, mix things up a bit. Since I really don't have much experience remixing, take my criticism as an opinion based mostly on listening. Do with it what you will. I hope my feedback was at least somewhat useful.
  12. Hey everyone, I've been active on here since September, but didn't really notice this thread until recently. So to those who haven't seen any of my posts, hi and glad to be here. I've been listening to music from OCR on and off for a few years. More recently, like within the past 2 years, I've been coming here daily to check for new remixes and albums, and occasionally lurk on the workshop forum. I was interested in actually making music for a while, but decided to take the plunge and get serious only within the past couple months, well aware of the massive learning. As for my music making experience, I first used FL Studio for a digital music class back in the winter/spring of 2009. My song for that class was a pretty terrible techno song. Since then, I experimented with the demo version on and off, until I decided to buy the real thing. I've stuck with FL Studio ever since. I feel like I've improved even in such a short amount, but without some awesome advice from the really helpful community, I wouldn't have gotten far. For anyone who is struggling to get started here, check out this thread that I started to ask for help: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=36856. Also check out this awesome guide by Rozovian: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=33049. My advice, no matter what program/instrument you use, is to just make tons of projects, no matter how terrible they may be. Work on projects until you get bored and/or frustrated, then move on to a new one, or go back to an old one, you might have new ideas/skills as you progress. You will start to establish a work flow, and your music will slowly improve (hopefully ). Even if after multiple projects you still aren't satisfied with how your music sounds, don't give up and stay positive. You will eventually make a project that you're happy with. Remember: do not quit and just keep working. Also, listening to other people's works-in-progress and reading comments about them is incredibly useful and will help you get better. You should try to give people feedback as well, regardless of your experience level. People always appreciate feedback, as long as you don't act rudely. I hope my advice helps out newcomers, and maybe even some veterans.
  13. Wow, this is beautiful. Soothing and relaxing. Good work. My main complaint is that the song can get very repetitive. I realize trance tends to contain a lot of repetition, but I think this mix would benefit greatly from some more variety. For example, the drums that play during the main melody could be changed up a bit more. The hi-hats that come in at 2:15 are especially repetitive, definitely add some more variety to those. I also find the cymbals that play during the main melody to be a little boring. Another gripe in terms of repetition is the break that starts at 2:30 and ends at 2:45. Either shorten up the break, or add some more variety to those 15 seconds. The similar break that comes in earlier at around 1:00 works for me because you also had some piano. A couple of little things jump out at me as well. The cymbal/shake that comes in at 1:23 and leaves at 1:28 is a bit irritating and doesn't seem to fit. I think you use it at other parts during the song, but it sounds strange isolated. My other little issue is with the hi-hits I mention above. I wouldn't mind the repetition so much if they weren't also distracting. Simply lowering their volume should suffice. Despite my beefs, I really did enjoy this track. Breath of Fire 3 is one of my favorite PS1 RPG's, and I just love the soundtrack, so I was excited to see this remix. Nice job, keep up the good work.
  14. I wasn't sure what to expect with a title like that, but I enjoyed this, nice work. When artists deviate on OCR, the result is always positive in my listening experience. I like your usual style, but this song is also good. Personally, I enjoy chiptune stuff, it has a nice nostalgia factor, plus it can produce some really crazy and unique sounds.
  15. Awesome! Definitely worth a listen. This gives me a whole lot of satisfaction. Much appreciated. Can't wait for the final preview and the album!
  16. Wow, this is great. Good luck with the submission process, when you guys decide to go for it.
  17. This is absolutely incredible. Out of this world synth work, excellent. Download this now.
  18. Just a fan saying awesome job with Extra Credits, and of course with help from James and Allison, really great information. I especially liked the episode about Game Compulsion, keep up the good work. I'm also enjoying your music here, do you still make music? I'd love to hear another remix from you.

  19. Just beautiful. Relaxing to the max, with a hint of mystery from the space-like ambiance. A must download.
  20. Nice work, I'm really digging this. Nothing popped out at me to complain about, but this is definitely a loose adaption of the source. Maybe even too loose for this site, at least that's my take. And as of now, I'm not really much of anybody.
  21. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be a bass, but I'm talking about the lowest sound at the beginning. That's the best way I can describe it, if that still doesn't make sense, just ignore it.
  22. Overall, I would say this a good start and I can see this song going places if you fix a couple things. The biggest problem I have is the extremely distracting bass noise that starts at the beginning and goes on and off until about 0:58. It picks back up at about 3:31 and again goes on and off until about 4:20. I'd bring up the low end on that, don't be afraid to try bringing it way up. Or maybe use another sound for that. Another issue that jumped out at me was the dubstep effect that lasts for about 2 seconds. Examples of this are at 2:01, and 2:16. The effect sounds jarring and harsh to me, even though it does fit in the song. I would lower the volume a bit, and maybe try to smooth it out. There are also a few weird sounding effects in the song that I can't quite pick out. Despite those issues I still liked this mix, keep at it. Also, keep in mind that I don't have much experience as a remixer, but I have listened to tons of works in progress and even more submitted mixes, so I think my comments should be of use.
  23. Great work everyone, I'm loving it. My favorite tunes being Monkey Island, God of War, and Kirby.
