  1. I haven't, flex, but I'm looking at it now. Have you used it with any success? Sometimes I find sites like these bury potential clients with submissions, but that's the real world I guess
  2. Hey guys, I've only been here for about a year, but it's totally lit a new fire for music for me. It's been an amazing experience, and I wanted to say I love you all. Aside from that, as I want to continue improving, that typically means I need to invest in software and equipment. I don't want to do this for a living, but it would be nice for it to be a self-sustaining hobby. I get a little money guilt when I buy music stuff. I've started working as a voiceover artist and I'm pulling in...well, $100 so far. My question is this: I know it's possible to hire oneself out as a studio musician to lay down tracks over distances using your home studio. I have kind of a unique set of instruments here, and I want to know the best way to get my name out there or audition for parts. Does anyone know a good way for me to do that? For voiceovers, Voice.Com or Elance.com work, but I don't see any studio musician gigs on Elance. Any advice is good advice. Thanks! X
  3. Cash and Change is a better person than me
  4. There's a certain satisfaction that comes with the righteous anger one can display on thieves' sites.
  5. How much to make my baby awesome!?
  6. Just for some background, I'm in pretty good shape, but there are so many people around me that swear by Crossfit (I'm military) and those folks are generally in tip-top shape. I've just never had a chance to try it. Yeah, it looks goofy (the pull ups are just weird), and if you do it improperly (like the idiot dead lifting 500 pounds or whatever with a giant curled back) you're going to hurt yourself. But I've actually never met anyone that injured themself doing crossfit. Not that I doubt you, ecto, but have you (or anyone else here) actually ever tried it? There are too many people that I know that swear by it for me to just write it off quite that quickly. I'm also joining a free-running gym at the end of the month. Imma break myself.
  7. Any of you guys do Crossfit? I've always kind of wanted to try, but I'm not really sure I get it. Do you JUST do crossfit? Working out for 10 minutes a day, while I know it can be exhausting, seems way too little for anyone that wants to get in shape. Yet I know crossfit people are some of the craziest beasts in the world. Anyway, I'd like to give it a shot, but I don't want to pay 400/month to go to one of those gyms. I'd rather do the WOD on my own.
  8. *does a barrel roll*
  9. I was in the gym a few days ago letting my OCR playlist roll, which has the torrents in them at random. For the first time, I heard Hymn of Aveh, and I literally stopped in the middle of the gym and just stood there, listening. Fantastic, fantastic work. I
  10. I was in the gym a few days ago letting my OCR playlist roll, which has the torrents in them at random. For the first time, I heard Hymn of Aveh, and I literally stopped in the middle of the gym and just stood there, listening. Fantastic, fantastic work. It actually took me a while to figure out who did it, but then I stumbled on your FF9 You Are Not Alone, also wonderful. Please keep making music.

  11. Thanks DarkSim! I've had to put this one aside for a bit due to other projects, but once I get back to it (hopefully soon) feedback like that is great for helping me really fine-tune the mix.
  12. Imma try and do Cid's. I've got an idea but just returned from being away from my DAW for 4 days and life is poised to destroy me again. We'll see how fast I can do it. Gimme a week, maybe, for a solid WIP.
  13. This stuff is so cool! When I can justify spending money on any more T-Shirts, I am totally getting one or more of these. You should make a baby onesie so my incoming child can enter this world rocking.
  14. I think THIS is the most overlooked piece of the puzzle.
  15. Not that I know of? Was it yours? Next thing you know I'll be posting everyones OCR tracks to my soundcloud and claiming that I wrote them!
  16. ecto - stay away from my wife. She'd fall in love with you for posting what you did. I love to see people passionately and intelligently deconstructing the common knowledge (the common ignorance). There is such a gigantic hole in modern medicine and the knowledge of the general population when it comes to health and food, propagated by years of listening to doctors that had no clue what they were talking about and listening them tell you "eggs will kill you and butter is bad" on CNN. Love you guys. EAT (real) BUTTER.
  17. For some reason I didn't see any of these updates. What's my timeline for Cid's now that Steiner's is taken?
  18. I use an Audix i5 or SM58 into a Focusrite SaffirePro14 into my computer. $300 total of equipment. Granted, I've only ever had one voice over gig.
  19. Thanks Timaeus. A little too human of a performance, maybe. I'll fix those in the next iteration. I haven't gotten a lot of feedback action on this in the last few days. Do we think it's ready for mod review?
  20. Thanks C&C. I actually think the piano might be clipping at some points, which is giving it that harsh sound. I had to double-track the piano to get it to carry and then I didn't do a great job of adjusting the levels or applying compression. That should be an easy fix.
  21. You're old.
  22. This. Depending on how fast the person is, you're probably offering them $4.00 an hour. Best of luck with the project.
  23. Goal = turn Kepora's theme into a late Romantic-era piano concerto. Piano is played live (but sampled). Otherwise there is live clarinet, french horn, and trumpet in there in different places. This is sort of my first attempt at doing anything orchestral. Remix: https://soundcloud.com/xprtnovice/flight-of-the-dark-owl-v6 Source:
  24. I have to agree here, but that's part ego Also the 2nd sax section is too far in the background.
  25. Many happy returns!
