  1. Hah, was going to post that one but you beat me to it. I'm doing a FFX playthrough and I cringe at the terrible dub. It's tolerable if I pretend Yuna's lines are being said by Lumpy Space Princess. Besides FFX, I hated the "shit your suit done got stolen" sequence in Metroid Zero Mission. You sneak around avoiding spotlights and can only defend yourself with a peashooter. Sneaking is just...not Samus' thing. It's especially jarring after you had gathered all the powerups you could at the point and were pretty badass, and had even managed to blow up Mother Brain. The only high point of the endgame sequence is Samus steals a pirate ship that looks like a sperm, because lol sperm. Also, the card tournament in Treno in FFIX. It was painfully obvious that they wanted to force their shitty card game on you, since they probably figured that you wouldn't have bothered playing it otherwise. It's no wonder, since they took what appeared to be a stat-based card game and made it a random-roll-element card game, which meant that skill had little to do with it and blind luck was everything. It's also at a point in the game where you had just watched Kuja kill Brahne and Garnet become queen while having had her summons stolen, so it's after a major plot point where you really want to get out into the world and continue on with the story. Nope, time for crap minigames instead.
  2. Eh, whatever. The franchise jumped the shark years ago, in my opinion. I'd rather go back and play a SNES Final Fantasy and spend my $60 on something else. I'm not saying that people won't buy it, that people won't love it, and that people won't eagerly be looking forward to it. I'm just saying I'm not one of them.
  3. Some of the fandom are some sick puppies. They forget all the characters are 13 years old. Anyway the best thing about Homestuck is the part where Hussie is trolling the fanbase and they don't even realize it.
  4. But give it to us via internet Yule Log.
  5. ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED!: Watched The Coop's animations for over 15 minutes. Anyway a pay-tier thing may be kind of obnoxious to some folks if it's a regular fee. I think some new people should be able to come along and join up on the Minecraft or TF2 without having to pay X amount of dollars a month.
  6. There's this bubbly-as-hell American pop song (I'm assuming) that played in a Wegmans while I was shopping this year, that had the melody of Fancy Mel from Drew Prism/Threads of Fate, but the rest of the song was unremarkable other than that plagerised bit. I have no idea who ripped that song, but it annoys me when plagerism happens in music. Too bad it happens all the time, just google "plagerism" paired with "Beatles" or "Oasis" to see how much of their stuff was lifted from somebody else. I mean Oasis ripped off an iconic tune from a classic Coca-cola commercial and got away with it, just what.
  7. Okay, that's fine. So it's old and was probably worked out at around the time of Wind Waker, which makes sense. But it reads like it's been hastily cobbled together to me regardless. I mean it probably was tough trying to think up a way to link the games in a way that would make the fans happy, but they didn't have to include every game in the franchise (minus the Phillips CD-I games, because nobody wants them along to the party). I can't think of a better way to do it other than to just break it down into a few seperate universes that have similar aspects, instead of the split timeline/alternate reality thing. Maybe there's no good way to do it, I don't know.
  8. When I say "it seems" that sort of implies my opinion. Your opinion is that the timeline fits great, mine is that it seems contrived and retconned.
  9. It's the whole split timeline thing they did in order to make every game fit. It seems a bit forced to me, and seems like they worked it all out after Skyward Sword was announced so they'd have some extra PR ammo to throw at us to hype the game. It doesn't seem like "oh yeah, this is what we planned all the long".
  10. 272 pages? Nice, not a thin coffee table book like some perfect works things released. I'm not sure their whole retconning of the Hyrules from the various games makes a lot of sense, but I'm sure this book will be worth it just for the pretty art.
  11. Remember when I said that speculation is silly? Still silly.
  12. I'm guessing if there's anybody being slow to respond, it's whomever is negotiating for SE's legal department and not OCR. Big companies with big lawyers probably have a lot on their plate, and I imagine it takes time to respond. This is the only speculation I'll do in regards to this, because speculating anything else is silly. I'm still happy that we're getting a FF6 remix album, regardless of whether we can have printed copies of it or not.
  13. I gave up practicing music years ago, but I had been keeping with art and trying to improve on it up until this past year. Then I had a choice due to limited time: hobby A or hobby B. I chose hobby B, which was video games. Besides, practicing something that's a creative process can be hard work and spends a bunch of mental energy. Playing games is a way to unwind and relax. I'm going to guess that a lot of musicians here that have jobs/kids/classes/whatever are going to be the same, and have to chose between two things they love.
  14. Female, 33, about an hour on average even though some days I don't play and others I get in 2-3 hours. Two years ago it was about four to five hours on average, before we had any kids.
  15. Meh, armchair activism. This is the same as the morons who thought it'd be sweet to fold thousands of paper cranes to help support the tsunami vicitms in Japan, instead of donating things they really needed like diapers or bottled water. If this guy really wanted to do something, he'd donate to something that actually helps. Raising awareness for something we're all aware of is a waste of time, and frankly it reeks of "hey look at me look at what a good person I am".
  16. Not that we need Yatzee to tear a shovelware game a new one in order for us to realize that they're terrible, but it's nice all the same.
  17. Regardless of the outcome, I think we still will be able to look forward to a great album to listen to. OCR will finally have a FF6 album. That's all that matters.
  18. I spent $61 and got seventeen games, so I wound up getting a whole bunch for the cost of one brand-new game. I missed buying Trine 2, but there'll be other sales. I tried the Steam calculator site, but it's not listing any of the games I've bought (maybe because I haven't played them all yet?). So I'm unsure of how much money I saved.
  19. Ah, thought the sale was ending later on tomorrow, not at 10 AM. I ought to see what I can find before it's gone. Maybe I should get the Avernum bundle, it looks like a good Ultima-style game. Then again that 3D remake of Wanderers from Ys looks pretty tempting. It's aggervating that there's all these awesome games I can buy, yet I don't know when I'll get to play the fool things. I also second Legend of Grimrock. It's a great, get-yourself-lost dungeon crawler. The secrets are really damn secret, meaning that they're pretty hard to find.
  20. Witcher 2 at $16: buy, or wait to see what happens on the final day of the sale?
  21. Yeah, was going to say it already was $5 at one point. We can always hope Ys makes it. At least you know nobody's going to vote for a Dungeon Siege game. Edit: I just was going to check the steam account calculator to see how much I would've normally spent, but the site is down due to a flood of traffic. I'm guessing it won't be up until after Monday.
  22. Prince of Persia collection for $12.50 and Dear Esther for $2.50. Dammit, now I'm going to have to spend more money.
  23. Nice. I was disappointed that I was having problems loading some of the DS games. I have a request for Dreamcast: add Skies of Arcadia, please? It's here with a bunch of other dsf files. If you go back through the site's directories you can find other Dreamcast games that people might like. There's a lot of game music on that guy's site.
  24. Aww man, I just got the Portal package. I should've waited to get a freebie. Limbo for $2.50 for the next three hours. Man, the flash deals are crazy. I've told myself I'm not buying anything else, yet I check them a couple times of day just to see what's selling.
  25. Knights of the Old Republic is $2.50 right now, so there's no excuse not to get it if you haven't already.
