  1. That video has such a crap framerate, it's hard to see how good anything is anyway. I agree it'd be worth it if they put in the international material. I never got to play that version. It would also be worth it if they fixed their polygon jitter problem. Watch FFX close-ups sometime, especially when a character is moving slowly or just slightly. There's polygon wiggle all over the damn place.
  2. In before the "don't post 'your favorite ___' threads". Anyway: Yasunori Mitsuda, Jeremy Soule, Michiru Yamane.
  3. Ni no Kuni just came out, and I must say the soundtrack is awesome. Then again it's by Joe Hisaishi, so it's it's a given.
  4. Oh. I'm a little disappointed. I admit I own the game but haven't gotten to playing it yet, so I don't know much about it.
  5. That's encouraging. People had to get a petition together and pester Square-Enix about releasing Xenoblade (and Last Story) in english. I guess they remember us over in North America and how we still love Xeno games. On that note, Xenogears recently turned 15. Is there anything special anybody is doing for that? I know there was some free-to-download artbook a group was doing, but I'm kind of curious if anybody was doing an album.
  6. But that's how Nintendo has been doing their consoles since 1998. Third-party developers are for handhelds, and that's how they like it. They've been pushing handhelds over consoles contentwise since they got rich with Pokemon. I doubt they're going to change how they do things, since Nintendo has dominated in the handheld department since the Gameboy. In any case, a new Xeno game is forthcoming for Wii-U. We'll see if it gets out of japan. Edit: dammit, you beat me to it. Damn my slow one-handed typing!
  7. I'm having d-pad frustrations too, and I'm just playing Phantasy Star 2 on an emulator (which I recommend Gensoid for a genesis emulator). I may have to break out my PS3 controller, which thankfully the -oid family of emulators all have bluetooth support. I figure I'll have to do it for Sword of Vermillion, which you really don't want to try on a crappy touchpad d-pad. I tried and did poorly. Does anybody have any roguelikes to recommend? I see people listing games without descriptions, and I admit I can't be assed to look up every last one of them. I'd like to have a nice relaxing dungeon adventure to play. "Relaxing" could mean "fuk i died", so I'm not worried about difficulty levels.
  8. Good luck. If you want to find people who are skilled at acting/costuming/moviemaking/music, then you'll be hard-pressed to find somebody willing to do it for free.
  9. Oh hell yes, this one too. It was a game I promised myself I'd never play after watching my roommates play, but after trying it I loved it. I found to not judge the silly floppy ears on the night elves, because druids in WoW are hella cool. Here's one I expected to dislike and found it to be really cool: Kirby's Epic Yarn. I took a look at it and said "that's not a Kirby game", but after playing the first level fell in love with it.
  10. Oh man, this. It took me a while of switching the auto-target on and off to figure what the hell I was doing, but once I was able to dive with that dragon everything got amazing. I really expected that game to have some dumb scare/shock gag, where you did something and suddenly it would flash some disgusting picture at you with a loud sound effect. I was pleasantly surprised.
  11. If you want to do it, yes. If you don't want to do it, no. You're not doing it for us.
  12. That's one I think everybody has to try, even though you're warned never to do it. We all have had fun falling in lava at the bottom of a big cave.
  13. Yeah. The first dragon down in Sochen Cave Palace wasn't too bad since I had two people with holy weapons (Excalibur and Holy Lance), but the second one was painful as all hell and no fun. At least you could leave and come back, since all you did is slowly plink away at his health. I have no idea why Square thought this would be fun.
  14. The optional dragon bosses in FF12. There's nothing more dull as fighting the same boss for two hours straight while babysitting a bunch of AI.
  15. I need to do this, except over half my games is backlog. I make a habit of buying games that only have one print run, so I can own them while I still can. The problem is finding the time to play the 50-odd games I haven't played yet, especially when most of them are 100-hour games.
  16. Well that little bio of his made my night. I'm feeling mighty good about myself right now.
  17. It was voted, and now it's $12. Get it while you can, since it looks like hilarious fun.
  18. Took the survey, answered a million questions about Megaman, adamantly said I do not want reboots of any franchises, and put in a good word for the Plasma Sword games. Hopefully Capcom's listening.
  19. I guess SE feels they haven't made enough FF13 spinoffs, because we all know how popular that game was. I could kind of see if they kept making FF4 games or moved to something like FF6 or FF8 since those were both pretty popular, but nope. FF13, because they already have a lot of models, textures and motion capture they can re-use. It's like how there's four Shrek movies, or three Open Season movies, because once you've already rigged those models and scenery pieces/textures, it's cheaper to produce the rest of the movie. Say hello to the new, AAA-title shovelware. Except they're not targeting kids, they're targeting the people who will buy anything SE makes.
  20. I can't read japanese, but knowing how contests run it's probably limited to only a few countries anyway, if not only japan. Not that there aren't folks from japan in the OCR community, but there's not much point in entering a contest if you can't actually participate, or if the prizes are crap and it's just a scam for a company to gain a ton of IP to use for advertising fuel. But 25 years? Holy crap. I remember my friend's brother playing a lot of the original game, and it doesn't seem like that long ago. We should have some kind of anniversary thingy for sure. Wasn't there a PS4 project that came up and then died during the time of "omg so excited let's have 130 album projects going"?
  21. To go down a cup size. The weight can move around to the rest of my body for all I care, but my back is unhappy and I need to do something about it. And start art again. I haven't done a single sketch or anything in over a year now.
  22. The problem with that is most of the people who go see it will be expecting a generic Michael Bay style explosion flick, and all the references and little in-jokes will sail over their heads. This thing is looking like it'll be brilliant, but only to the folks who are familiar with the source material.
  23. So at the end of the movie, will everyone turn into tang?
  24. I saw that it was a browser-based flash game and ceased caring. I mean it looks like it possibly could be some strange Civilization and Master of Orion mashup, but putting this thing on a browser just makes me think of all the shitty Facebook-based flash games that offer you a little for free and then ask that you pay for more with real money. I really would not put it past Square-Enix to pull a Zynga on us. Oh well. I guess we can go back to our lives until they hype the fuck out of the next Dissidia or Kingdom Hearts game.
