  1. The new standards were totally made in support of prog rock, right? Have you posted about it on TheShizz yet, Larry? Are you guys excited about receiving your first 30 minute prog rock piece or are you dreading that day? There's probably a fair deal of people who could make something like this: and sub it to OCR. >:]Also just to add, maybe I am the only idiot who didn't care that much about his FILE quality, I always just bounced out a 192kbps mp3. I don't even know what VBR1 is...
  2. You've already got this marked as "Finished" and you're not particularly good at accepting criticism from what I've seen on irc, but I can share a few thoughts. That hihat sample is bad. Apart from a problem here and there, this is actually not too bad of a piece. It's pretty repetitive and there's not a chorus or a climax to be found, some of the synth choices are pretty vanilla. The first 38 seconds are pretty rough, but it seems more cohesive when the bass drops in after that. The 'snare' is weak and mostly treble, and the kick is strong enough but lacks definition. Through my monitors it just sounds like a sub bassy thud. It seems like a lot of the elements in your song are all fighting for attention, rather than having some backing elements, and others that stick out above them, so it does induce some listener fatigue. I've heard this song a lot of times now because you link it pretty often on irc. It's not too bad and the things I mentioned are pretty easy fixes on the production side. You probably aren't interested in changing the arrangement, but I do think it could use some work. Mostly in the intro which I thought was pretty rough.
  3. edit: btw that was written by a British guy
  4. Are games really sexist or do game developers just do what works? The way I see it, game development is like rap. Let it be natural and good, keep the british people away from it because they'll make it sound silly and wimpy. That's just life.
  5. You are mistaken, sir! Posting suggestions here gives remixers some ideas of cool stuff they could choose from, if they so choose, possibly in addition to what they've already picked.
  6. I believe Steam updates automatically. :3
  7. I claim victory over the WCRG in the name of America.
  8. I don't usually put reverb on the kick itself but I put it on the overheads and snare and things that the kick bleeds into, which kinda gives the kick some reverb, except not on the actual kick itself, which is probably good :3
  9. Let Wiesty play live drums for it, Chernabogue still needs to finish his awesome arrangement for FF2. Seriously he's missed like 7 WIP dates.
  10. Only 2 mics? Lamesville! You need somethin with a bit more punch than that! If you're getting a 3k kit might as well drop $100 on a cheapo 5-piece set of drum mics, bwahaha
  11. Live drums would make a track like this, so that'd be worth looking into. Metal drummers can usually play lots of styles. xP Don't offer to bear my children unless you've got a hefty vagina. But yeah I could play bass too, and sing!
  12. Let the record show that I did not start it. But I will most-definitely finish it. Might as well make a game out of this. Try to stump me, and I'll guess the movie every snapshot is taken from.
  13. wha? Mega C. Bad medley? whateva i'll play a guitar solo or an organ solo
  14. Snappleman is fat and greek, he masturbates with feta cheese! Congrats to Tony for winning the EBP contest and a huge thanks for getting the size limit increased. Tony's the best vgm has to offer, not too much else to add.
  15. Well I ain't talking to Whitesnake, Ozzy, or Metallica! If you start telling people around here it's ok to put reverb on rhythm guitars, you're going to open a can of worms! Do you want that, sixto? Huh? People submitting songs to OCR that have like a 50% reverb send turned on for both rhythm tracks. I think not! Nobody here even makes 80s rock! Not even Willrock! So don't be sassin' me, boy! Ok, I will concede that I may have been a little over-dramatic, and sixto is right about those songs -- I've even heard reverb on Opeth guitars like on their Deliverance album, but for the sake of not getting into some trouble, save that kind of stuff for far later... I just recently started using reverb on rhythm guitars... And certainly not all the time..
  16. This gives me time to actually edit together a music video for my tune using game footage. I've already downloaded the footage. But that's boring. I need to download some video of chameleons in HD. I hope chameleons are exciting enough to carry a music video.
  17. What are you typing fooooooor? I wanna see dat trailer
  18. So I know they allow Tetis remixes of that Russian folk song etc.. Where does the site stand on remixes of public domain pieces that are over 100 years old and not copyrighted anymore? If not on its own, can it be included as part of a medley? The public domain music in question is indeed a game music
