  1. You wouldn't have the slightest about when DJP will implement the click-the-mascot-and-reach-the-article functionality, would you? EDIT: I'm off to Paris and will most likely be offline until Wednesday.
  2. I guess you're right. Ok. I'll keep messing with the main page, LT is really busy right now anyway.
  3. So if we ask LT to remove the one named "Darkstalker" we tell him to remove those two as well, correct? I think I vaguely remember trying to redirect that page back then, yes. I don't know what was the problem then, something about permissions or the likes.
  4. I said that? I did it just now (though it's not blank) and it works fine... did I say it didn't work, or did I say it was wrong? If we can't remove the DS article altogether, I'd say this is the best way to go. If it can be done. I think there was at least one more article that we ended up not using (due to a spelling error), so we should make sure to list every page we want removed before asking him to remove any of them. These are the people I had in mind. Maybe it's best to leave it like that, and then add "If you feel like you deserve to have your name mentioned here, just ask." or something. Thanks for your other comments. The main page needs to read as well as the bios do, and I threw out some unfinished sentences just to get started. Sometimes I'm having trouble finding words for what I want to say, so it's good to have a native speaker around
  5. It would be, yes. Somone could even compile some statistics so you could see which avatar has been used the most
  6. Should we remove the category "mascots" from the category "darkstalkers" and the extended darkstalkers bios? We can't rename the extended ones now, and I think they shouldn't be accessible from the main page without a proper spoiler warning attached. How about they're only accessible from the darkstalkers category (which can, then only be accessed by first reaching one of the darkstalkers bios), and from the darkstalker bio they're in? Or how about creating a new category named "extended darkstalker *spoilers*" which is accessible from the darkstalkers category, but not from the main page? That would mean the darkstalkers category can still be accessed from the main page. Come to think of it, the darkstalkers category is kinda funny, I mean, we don't have categories for "Mario universe" or "megaman" or "rival schools" or "final fantasy"... But we did need somewhere to put that "what are the darkstalkers" thingy. I'm just not sure it should be accessible from the main page. Also, I've started writing some stuff on the main page. I figured it's better to throw something out and then revise it than waiting for the perfect sentences to form in my head and then write them down.
  7. That's probably why, yeah. It's too bad nothing from Reason4 is backwards compatible even though you don't add anything that wasn't in Reason3. This combinator consists of Rv7's, MClass compressors and and a maximizer. That's it.
  8. I love the idea, because I love languages, and playing games is an excellent way of learning new ones (it's how I learned English, for example). I'm interested in trying the game, but I don't think the kind of music I make would fit very well here. Some more info on what kind of music you could probably be helpful - you said you didn't know how to describe it, but tell me this - do you want orchestral music or is synthetic ok? Do you want something sweeping, non-melodious, ambient or something more uptempo? Rhytmic or not? Slow or fast? "Serene" and "aquatic" are both good words here, but they can mean different things depending on who you ask. Try to find a mix on the site that sounds something like what you had in mind. You could even contact the guy who made it and ask him if he's interested. Also, I envy you for being a game programmer.
  9. ? Someone might have tried these colors already. Did you consider a gradient background, Coop? About the warcraft avatars, it's no hurry, I was just worried you missed my post
  10. This is the right place to ask for people who can make music for you. Most people aren't interested in participating if they don't think the game will actually be finished, but yours looks promising in that aspect. I'm not personally interested in helping out, but it won't be long before someone else shows up, I'm sure.
  11. Heh, thanks. No, you're right, I do switch around a lot. If I ever find something I think I can stick with, I'll let you know Besides, I think I'm alone using the one I have now... haha. Thanks for moving this conversation to the appropriate thread, btw. It was getting a little long for the one it was in. While I'm at it, I was wondering: Are there ever going to be animated avatars, even custom ones? And do the custom avatars need to be relevant (i.e. game related)? Suzu, your current avatar is a part of you. If you change it now, after - what - years (?), it'll be like getting facial plastic surgery irl. I don't see why LT would deny you one though... Anyway, I still haven't seen any comments on my last warcraft2 avatar post on the previous page.
  12. I didn't realize Dhsu or the others had a custom avatar! Interesting. I misunderstood the meaning of "custom" avatar. I agree with your reasoning here. So, these custom avatars - couldn't these people have done what e.g. I do and posted them in the thread? Were they too ugly to be accepted? Or was it just really important to them to have one that no one else had?
  13. I think he was referring to what LT said - only those who have some sort of standing in the community can expect to have the avatars they suggest in the project thread added to the avatar gallery. I agree that's fair. Your standing in the community shouldn't affect whether you can contribute or not. If you post good-looking, relevant avatars, your post count (or whatever else LT was referring to) shouldn't affect whether they are added or not. This is of course unless by "custom" avatar you mean one that no one else can use... or unless I misunderstood the whole argument.
  14. Do you mean the user needs some sort of standing or the avatar does? It sounded like the former to me
  15. 1. Who knows? 2. There are new ones being added all the time 3. You don't. You can, however, try to convince the staff to add the avatar of your choice by posting a picture (32x32 gif) in this thread.
  16. The music in this game has such advanced chords. Try playing the same chords on any instrument - they just don't ring well. In the soundtrack it sounds fine though.
  17. You're right about this game needing some more love. This piece is... interesting. I can't say I like it very much, but it's an interesting piece. I think it would sound better if you reduced the reverb for some of the instruments in some places, and maybe did something cool with compressors...
  18. Well done! I had tickets for their live concert but had to sell them to a friend - the choir I sing in were the supporting act for Antony and the Johnsons that same night.
  19. I don't really see how you'd remix any of the music in UT. Besides, it's so kick-ass already that it's hardly necessary. Also, you'll never get that particular sound you get from mod files without it being a mod file, and then you are really wasting your time... because mods don't get better than this.
  20. Lockjaw's saga would sound great as a Rammstein song... especially with German vocals. "In den Teifen suchen kleine banane"...
  21. It's been done, just not here. Don't remember who did it though. Some semi-famous rockband I think.
  22. There used to be a project way back where all the songs in all remixes were identified... I've noticed that there's still a number of games and remixes on the site that have nothing in the "songs" field. Is it time to reinstate the project, perhaps?
  23. True, but since the name came up, I just figured it could be linkified (though of course not added to the appearances list).
  24. Now that I understand what you're talking about, I fourth that statement. Aye!
  25. I'm taking this class in computer music and last time I was there they told us about this recording named "I am sitting in a room" (wiki article). I decided to try to do what Alvin Lucier did, but using Reason, and here's the result... try playing an instrument through this. This patch is great for making those F.E.A.R./Homeworld-esque effects. Also, if anyone can help me adjust the settings on this thing to make it even better, I'd be grateful... www.ngst.nu/IAmSittingInARoom.cmb [75kB] Notes: the sound will take a few seconds to go through the 17 reverbs. Watching the volume meters rise after the other is kinda cool though. Damping is mapped to the mod wheel (I ran out of knobs). Dry/Wet should not be set to the max. The compressors are only there to prevent the sound from becoming too loud (try what happens without them if you dare). The maximizer just boosts the volume in case it's too low. I don't really know how either of these work so the settings on them may be crazy, and if so, help me out. The last one of the reverbs is for... reverberation.
