  1. Wo0t. I never thought anyone would ever remix this because it would be too diffiult.
  2. So, you making any more? Also, is there a way to extract samples from this file (other than by making a really short song where this sample plays a single note and then export to wave), like the yoshidrum, or can you send it to me?
  3. Prophet made one for the LoZ4 project, which died. You could probably ask him to send you a link to the mix though.
  4. Ok, so, we have at least... maybe one... or maybe 2 people who want to join. I guess that's enough. I'll be starting a thread about it in a week or so.
  5. If you need to drop out, someone else can pick up where you left, if you give that person your mml. It'd be cool to have you in, either way.
  6. Yes. Eheh, what was that movie where this little guy had to lift this really heavy girl and fell... eh... Dodgeball, wasn't it?
  7. When will the mascot clickability feature likely be implemented? Like, what month? You know, ballpark figures and stuff.
  8. Ahahaha "Hey!" This is good stuff. But yeah, I'd want the project to aim for something closer to the original. Oh, and, an honor to see you post in my thread, btw. Your posts are a rarity, at least as far as I know. Funny how quickly you posted. Especially since I haven't seen Overcoat yet... And then you got banned? Wtf?
  9. I wonder if DJP will follow through with his mix or if he'll have to back out due to time constraints. It's not like he's not busy enough as it is.
  10. Glad you don't take it personally or anything. It's good to have variation on the site. Beware the OCR cliché...
  11. So... I found this funny little Super Mario World NES port today. Pretty cool how they managed to get it to look so much alike the original game with the NES's limited technology. And pretty disappointing they failed so miserably with the soundtrack. Now... I've heard Super Mario World was also called Super Mario Bros. 4 in Japan, which is really no surprise - SMW and SMB3 are obviously very similar in style. But what if there had actually been a SMB4? If SMW had been released as a NES game instead of as a SNES one? What would its soundtrack have sounded like then? To anyone who doesn't see what I'm getting at - I'm requesting a chiptune project, one that answers that very question: My answer? The songs would be nearly identical, but played with the same audio capabilities as SMB3 (i.e. 2xSquare+Triangle+Noise+DPCM, plus, perhaps, MMC5 and/or FDS where absolutely necessary). Imagine something like Super Mario All-Stars but the other way around. Many of the songs in the soundtrack actually don't use more than 3 simple melody lines, and could easily be faithfully converted into NES music. However, some songs don't, and here's where the hallowed and mysterious creative reinterpretation comes in. Sometimes, you'd have to chose between dropping a part, or merge two parts into one using arpeggios, or some other solution, like an expansion chip (MMC5 or FDS, being made by Nintendo, would seem like the obvious choice here). The goal here could be trying to make the best cover using the limited equipment at hand, that is, trying to get the NSF to sound as close to the source as possible, something like this (source) - or you could go wild and make an OCRemix-esque reinterpretation out of it (though still an NSF). The one problem I can think of is that merging multiple NFSs into one multi-song NSF is a real bitch, even though some people have apparently pulled it off, so once the project is finished, it may take a while before it can be distributed as a single NSF/NSFe.I think a project like this could be a lot of fun, since I haven't really seen anything similar around here and I doubt a full soundtrack of this kind has ever been made. Experienced chip musicians could join and grab the more advanced tracks, and newcomers, even those who have never made a chiptune before, could learn how, discover the fun in making them, and grab the short and simple ones. Also, making an NSF takes way less time than making a full OCRemix, especially since a 10 second source would result in a 10 second chiptune, so a project like this wouldn't be taking years to finish. 12. PC Keyboard + 2-button Mouse w. Scrollwheel. How advanced does a gamepad need to be to match THAT?
  13. My DV camera won't record from external sources, only through the lens.
  14. But... if a track is listed in green, it means it's taken until further notice, right?
  15. I once saw a nifty, cheap little thing that allowed you to record video signals (though just the regular, yellow cable, not s-vid) right into your usb port. Can't remember its name right now though.
  16. I get that this is a noise mix, but I honestly don't think it sounds good. Very creative arrangement though. I like lo-fi, like in Fragments of Gold, but this is a little too dirty for me. I doubt I'll listen to this again. That said, I'm not suggesting others won't either - I'm sure there are people who like this, too.
  17. Haha. The singing wasn't... really to my liking, it felt like the lyrics had too many syllables to give the melody a good rhythm. But that megaphone thing was awesome. Lyrics deep enough to drown in.
  18. This music does sound better on an old soundcard, hehe Anyway, don't bump your thread this often, it's not smiled upon by the mods. Edit your posts instead.
  19. What, NES and SNES songs doesn't count as chiptunes? I sit corrected.
  20. They don't all use FM synths, you know. Some use other synths, and some use samples. Some even use the PC speaker.
  21. Will those who are allowed to join be able to listen to others' wips?
  22. Mmm. A collab with Virt sounds like aural sex topped with whipped cream. Er. He probably wouldn't want to collab with me though. It would be nice if it said in the first post what software the collab requesters are using, and whether they care what software the other guy uses.
  23. I've been close on a few occasions, but realized I wouldn't have the time to run something like that. I suggested a chiptune competition a while ago but it'll fallen off the edge of the forum. All that's left of it is this...
