I agree. It's very heavy on the left. I keep leaning my head trying to compensate for it, but naturally that doesn't help. Then it gets more centered towards the middle of the song and then too much to the right at the end. The melody synth you're using in the intro isn't that great. The one that comes in at 1:12 or so fits much better. Generally, if this is an ice level in the game, why not try some more bell-like instruments to make you feel like you're in an ice cave or something? Just a thought... There's no transition worth mentioning at 00:57. When switching themes like that, try doing it a little more smoothly. This goes for the rest of the song too. Make the fade outs really fade out, don't cut them halfway. 1:58-3:07 feels a little strange. The melody and the accompaignment don't seem to fit and the melody bell there is very fifth-heavy (don't know if that's even a word but you get the idea). The last section of the song is really the best as far as instrumentation goes, I think, but it's a little load - there's some glitching. My best advice is to let this song lie untouched for a week or so, while you listen to some other music. Then go back and listen very closely to your own mix. I think you'll be able to point out things that could be improved on your own by then.

I think the EQ feels very mid-range heavy. More treble and bass, please.

Work some more on this and come back later. It shows promise.

Ok. Looking forward to hearing it.

Would this be a good starter/learner keyboard?
Dafydd replied to Wolfgeist's topic in Music Composition & Production
Looks good enough. It has a pitch and a mod wheel, which is nice. Does it allow you to switch octaves though? I've been trying this one out for some time, it's pretty nice. The two knob wheels are ideal for usage with e.g. Reason: http://www.korg.com/GEAR/info.asp?a_prod_no=KSERIES&category_id=1 But if I were to buy a keyboard now, I'd try this: http://musicthing.blogspot.com/2004/11/roll-up-midi-keyboard.html -
I think the drill is, you find the avatar (or ask Polo or someone), and LT implements it so you can use it.

Nice. Strange this game doesn't have more mixes.

I'm Swedish, I don't hang out with Americans much, I guess that would explain it... I just don't think I've ever met anyone with that name irl, that's all. Haven't heard of many people with that name either. I've met people named Ash and Wood though. And a friend of mine is named Sten (which means Stone). Heheheh Nevermind me, just get a wip fired up and I'll shut it.

Haha... cool stuff. The flute works very well, and the pizzicato too. The bass and the drums don't.

Dur See, there's so little progress here that I even forget who's in and not... sorry about that. The deadline for considerable progress is the june/july shift. So if your wip is still a first, undeveloped wip by then, I wouldn't count it as considerable progress. But you're doing a piano piece, right? That shouldn't take a really long time to make. And sending me a first, undeveloped wip way before the deadline is going to improve chances of more progress all around. ... btw, your name is Clay Moffatt? How unusual...

That's the oddest use of the tomato smiley I've seen in a while.

I love puns more than I love cake

Thanks for your concern, but people who are as busy as you are tend to not finish their work. I'd rather you'd not try to help us, unless you can produce near-finished wip's at the time of deadline. Putting you up on the remixer list doesn't really count as progress for any remix project that's over 30 days old. Sorry if I sound rude, I'm just tired of having people join without actually doing anything. Not that you actually did join.

OverClocked ReMix Design ?'s and Issues
Dafydd replied to Liontamer's topic in Site Issues & Feedback
I think this is the place, DaStinka, although you'd might have more luck PM'ing LionTamer. It seems we could use another "how to use the forum guide". I have no buttons for editing things like bold, italics, underline, color, size etc. Were those removed for a reason or have they just not been implemented yet? Also, is it no longer possible to change a thread title? A lot of features seem to be missing from this forum when comparing with the vB forums I'm used to visiting. Is it because of safety measures taken to prevent OCR's sometimes very immature forum community from going nuts (like the 4 image limit, the 10 char limit and the 10000 char limit)? -
Awesome. And what an adequate avatar for the announcement.

Megaman II - Untitled Flashman Remix
Dafydd replied to PlayItBogart's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
You're like the AD of the WiP forum, SnappleMan. Wow MegaUpload blows. First enter a code in a hard to find text box, then wait for 45 seconds just to download a file? And I could do without the poker pop-up. What poot. Ok, the volume levels in the intro are awful. Turn it down, please. Nevermind, turn the volume down for the whole song... The drums are the worst I've heard in a long time, and I can usually only hear the main melody, which drowns everythings else. Really, I'm sure your investment in Reason will pay off in the long run, but for now, you should have settled for a mod tracker or something. At least they're free. I know I can't afford Reason... Nevermind, SnappleMan, this really isn't very good. PlayItBogart, sit down and 1. Listen to your mix 2. Listen to this mix 3. Repeat 5-10 times. After comparison, do you think your mix is good, PIB? I mean, do you enjoy listening to it yourself? Besides, and don't take this as personal critisism, but don't we have enough mixes of Flashman by now? -
Yeah, well... I don't know. It's probably like frame said - there are too many projects around, and even the more popular ones can't find enough remixers. I don't really understand how everyone can be so busy. Maybe the entire remixer part of community has grown up, and too few new, young talents have popped up to fill the empty space or something. There are lots of people submitting, but few of them seem to want to join the projects, and if they do, they usually suck. Most people who join drop out soon enough. Just look at the Zelda 4 project - it's been going on for ages. Of course, I'd put much of the blame on the coordinator, but still. Regardless, the matter of fact is - not enough people want to join. Anyway, I'm getting bored with this, it's been dragging on for too long and I just don't feel inspired to work with any of the songs in this soundtrack anymore. Not even GaMeBoX, who started the project, has finished his songs. Remix projects are supposed to be fun and now this one has gotten to become a playground where no one wants or has the time to play. I feel like starting a new project, featuring some other game, one that has very few songs, making it a short and sweet project, thereby building up my reputation a little, so that if I revive this at some point, my name and the fact that I coordinate the it will warrant this project more popularity, since the game itself clearly does not. I feel sad about this failure of mine but I don't really think I will miss the project. It's been a long time since it was fun. As for Russian themes, it's not something I've seen so far, but I had plans to implement a small part of the Russian national anthem into my mix. It would fit very well.

Hi My girlfriend's computer has just died and she's blaming me for it. I've warned her that it's going downhill and that she should back up her files and reinstall windows (because, well, sometimes that needs to be done), just to be safe, but she wouldn't listen, and now she's telling me it died because I had stuff on it. Er. Anyway, I'm looking to salvage as much as possible of her hard drive. I don't know what's wrong with the computer, but I do know that you cannot trust a repairman to care about your lost data - he'll make the damned thing work but he's a lot more likely to just give you a new hard drive rather than trying to fix a broken one. So. Her computer is a laptop, and is has no floppy drive, and none can be installed. As I've understood it, the best solution would be to: Boot from a CD and try to copy as much as possible to a USB stick. This must be done in DOS. Does anyone have experience with doing this? Thanks for any help!

"fan base" I knew I used the wrong words, but couldn't think of what to replace it with. Anyway, the deadline is set.

Ok, the situation is pretty boring. What we have here is a forgotten, neglected remix project, covering a game that no one cares about. It suffers from lack of dedication, both from its participants as well as from me, and a lack of interest from remixers. This thread isn't even being trolled by people who complain about this project not making any progress. I know it's all my fault - but I really don't feel like running this thing anymore. I'm bored with this project. I have the intent, but apparently not the willpower to finish my own song, and I am no longer interested this project. This game simply doesn't have a big enough fanclub. If this project has not made significant progress (more finished songs, including my own) at the June/July shift, I will officially shut it down, indefinitely, or until someone else feels like taking it over, or until I feel like reviving it.

Try this. http://www.virtualconstructs.com/downloads/megamaneffect.shtml

Sounds cool, but by the OCR definition of a ReMix, there's not much material to work from. It's mostly atmospheric and ambient (I love it, but I wouldn't know how to remix it).
-
Ahh, cuz you've eaten it all up. The pun will never end, will it?

Is kfc still working on his mix?
