OCR 'Must-Have Games' List: -Part TWO-
suzumebachi replied to sephfire's topic in General Discussion
Time to catch up... MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries - YES The pinnacle of all "mech" games. MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries was a freaking masterpiece, man. Also the soundtrack wasn't shabby either. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - borderline YES I'm kind of unsure how to go about the GTA series (especially the GTA3 games in particular) because they're ALL good, but each one is better than the last. However, Vice City still stands well enough on its own to justify voting for it in my mind. The 80s atmosphere was done extremely well, and it had that insanely addictive GTA gameplay. You can't really go wrong here. Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask - borderline NO Don't get me wrong, Majora's Mask is a good game. But it's too similar to Ocarina of Time, and falls just short of its greatness to justify being must-have in my opinion. Kind of a shame really because I still enjoyed the ever loving shit out of it nonetheless. Super Mario 64 - HELL YES Super Mario 64 is freaking incredible. I played this game for HOURS when I first got it, and I eventually ended up collecting all 175 stars or whatever. And even having done that, I still picked up the DS version when it came out because it's just that damn good. -
MP3 players.which do you use? and why?
suzumebachi replied to prophetik music's topic in General Discussion
I USE NONE. unless you count my portable MP3 CD player. portable MP3 players are too damn expensive for what they are-- glorified walkmans that generate backround level noise radiation as you go about your business, whatever that business may be. -
what music library/playback program do you use?

Fallout 2 - DEAR GOD YES Great PC RPG, or Greatest PC RPG? Fallout 2 was fucking fantastic, end of story. One of the best games of all time. Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast - YES One of only a small number of FPS games I've been into enough to play it from start to finish in one sitting. Also kickass multiplayer. SimCity 4 - NO More of the same typical Sim City gameplay, with enhanced graphics. Maybe it's just me, but I find the SimCity formula both frustrating and boring. Metal Gear Solid - FUCK YEAH BITCHASS Another one of the best games of all time. As if there was any question. Wolfenstein 3D - YES I almost want to vote against this because it's so outdated it hurts. It's almost painful to go back and try to play it now. BUT, I remember playing it when it first came out, and that nostalgia is still there. It's still a decent game, and definitely an originator. Half-Life 2 - YES Not only is Half-Life 2 a great game, it shows how sequels should be done. A+ would play again (and do, regularly). The only problem with Half-Life 2 is Steam (fuck Steam, srsly). But it wouldn't be fair to vote against it for that reason alone. -
Compo pack is up, thanks to sadorf. You can grab it at: http://epicgaming.us/sadorf/Flikomp/Flikomp4/ Enjoy! PS: FL's rendering engine broke when I rendered my song (for some reason some instruments were using triplet math). So if you're interested there's a fixed version here: http://hosting.thasauce.net/suzumebachi/tyberius_iamear(fix).mp3

done. were we supposed to log in or something? -
it helps a LOT if you can play the keyboard (or the guitar or something) and play along with the original. otherwise, if you really have zero music theory knowledge, then have fun clicking in random notes with all that trial and error. but that's how i learned, so but then again i'm slow and mentally defective practice makes perfect etc

OCR 'Must-Have Games' List: -Part TWO-
suzumebachi replied to sephfire's topic in General Discussion
Hmm we got some serious contenders this time. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - YES Without a shadow of a doubt. Resident Evil - YES While Resident Evil wasn't necessarily the originator of the survival horror genre, it definitely moved it into mainstream. Plus it was actually a pretty damn good game. Diablo II - YES Aww hell yeah. People still play this game religiously. Not much else you can say really, other than it's also one of the most addicting games of all time. Grand Theft Auto III - YES While Vice City and especially San Andreas blow GTA3 out of the water, GTA3 is still the originator of the 3D freeroam mass murder carjacker genre. Plus it had a decent storyline, and excellent voice acting. Team Fortress Classic - abstain I personally enjoyed the everloving shit out of TFC. However, I'm not sure it's really a must-have game. Especially since it's a mod for a game that's already surely bound to be must-have. Quake II - YES Quake 2 took everything that was great about Quake 1 and expanded on it. Better graphics, better storyline, better multiplayer, better everything. Plus again, one of the greatest mod communities EVER. Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos - YES Warcraft III and the Frozen Throne expansion are pretty much tied with Starcraft for the greatest RTS ever. The RPG hero elements in Warcraft III are pretty tight as well. I love the hell out of this game, and it has possibly the best singleplayer campaign of any RTS ever. My only complaint is the lack of scale-- your armies are more like squads, rather than the enormous hordes from Warcraft 2. But otherwise, WC3 is godly. -
for the good of all of us (except the ones who are dead)

some new nominations: PlayStation Metal Gear Solid Resident Evil Resident Evil 2 Resident Evil 3 Twisted Metal 2 PC Grand Theft Auto 2 Grand Theft Auto 3 Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Half-Life 2 Neverwinter Nights 2 Portal Warcraft III ...unless these have already been nominated. the nomination list on the first page is gone ok now for my votes Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II - YES Come on, a well done Star Wars FPS with lightsabres and force powers and cheesey FMV sequences with horrible acting that allows you to choose between the light side and the dark side... What's not to love? Rise of Nations - YES Someone else will probably shoot this down, but oh well. I personally enjoyed the hell out of it. It's like a real time version of Sid Meier's Civilization. You can go from cavemen to nuclear weaponry over the course of one game and own the ever loving shit out of people. Or cause nuclear winter. Whichever comes first. -
what is this "BC" you speak of?

So, I replaced the video card with another one, and it works fine. Then I tested the X800 in another computer, and it worked fine. So like... wtf?!??!??!

OCRA-0009 - Final Fantasy VII: Voices of the Lifestream
suzumebachi replied to zircon's topic in Album Reviews & Comments
solution: use a less ridiculous file path god damn -
A problem I see in difficulty for a lot of games is extreme varying degrees of difficulty from one part to the next. For instance, Half-Life 2. Throughout most of Half-Life 2, I rarely died. And of the very few times I did die, it was usually a result of accidentally slipping up and falling off of something while going through one of those platforming segments. That is, until I reached the part of the game where you have to make your way into the combine building which is guarded by thousands of combines, a half dozen walkers, and a handful of airships. I must have died 50 times there. But once I made it inside, it was back to being a cakewalk again. Half-Life 2 isn't the only game I see this happen in, either. Lots of role playing games do the same thing. You slaughter endless hordes of demons and monsters and badmen with little or no effort. Then you get to a boss and he kills two of your dudes on the first attack. It's pretty annoying, really. To me, consistency is more important than overall difficulty. I don't mind games being easy, or hard, if they're easy or hard all the way through (with some exceptions for extremely difficult games, an easy slaughterfest for a small portion of the game is fun to break up the monotony). Or ideally, progressing in difficulty. Like the old NES/SNES Super Mario Bros games. None of this "OMG LETS CHANGE IT UP BY MAKING THE NEXT PART INSANELY FUCKING HARD" stuff.
