I have upgraded DS394's track to Orange Status, as it is a complete (not finished) track; however, the track still needs a name, @DS394!
And thanks again to 'The Flash' @Starphoenix for claiming Macbeth from SF SNES!
That makes 20 claimed tracks - 10 for each album! Now we are just FOUR TRACKS AWAY from reaching our first goal of 24 tracks!
    ___
If anyone is looking for suggestions, here are a few tracks that I would really like to see claimed for the album that haven't been yet:
Asteroid Belt / Meteo (SF64) The Awesome Black Hole (w/map select - SF SNES) Sector Y (SF SNES) Out of This Dimension (SF SNES) Andross... (any/all games) That being said, all unclaimed tracks are still open. Let us know if you want in!

Really excited to hear what some of the other remixers have been cooking up. Getting closer to getting both CDs filled, which is exciting!

Slimy's claim on 'various Star Fox themes' will probably have some of the same melodies, but his focus is on ending themes; I have no claims for medleys that spread to the Menu Theme or Stage Clear theme specifically. I say go for it. I'm a big fan of creativity, so mix it up and see what happens!
I'll put you down for the Stage Clear.
This is also OK! Bolse is now yours.
    Claimed!

I would also like to announce that @JulienMulard has claimed Aquas! He's be moving in an electro-metal direction with his track and will be trying to combine both the SF64 theme with the SF Command theme. Can't wait to hear his first WIP!
    Welcome aboard, Julien!

I'm loving all this activity. We have quite a few WIPs as well and there is some awesome music being created for this project.
We have TWO TRACKS LEFT to be claimed for the first disc to reach the first goal...! Thanks to everyone for their help in bringing @Thomas Neil's idea to light. This is going to be great!
There are still lots of tracks left to claim - let us know if you want in!

    Has "Meteor" been claimed yet?
    Love that Glockenspiel....thing...
    Also that harmonic guitar.
If not, then I'll claim it.

Do you all think it would be good idea to tie in the menu theme with a slower, more contemplative version of the 64 stage clear theme? They might go quite well together.

I'm wondering how redundant this idea would be..... what medleys are covering this? ^ Also, are any medleys going to include the 64 menu theme?
Also I realllllyyyy want to do Bolse....... in the style of @bLiNds suberb 'Meteor' remix. Is it OK if I claim that one too?

True to my word, I got my project started this weekend. Have about 40 secs of an intro I've been playing around with to try and build my instruments and soundscape. So far the chill has been obtained.
UPDATE: Managed to get more work done. At around 2:20 mark. Zoness is proving to be a tad more challenging of a source than I thought, but so far it is going well. Pretty pleased with the results thus far. I should have a rough WIP done by this weekend.

And the title for my track is going to be Diving into the Deep Green Abyss.

Jazzelda, that is not a bad idea. The harmonies are pretty rich, and the solo's and jams in this are reasonably sophisticated. I enjoyed this approach, and I think ultimately it's a great idea.
That being said, the execution leaves a lot to be desired. The instruments really don't come off as realistic at all. I hear a little bit of volume enveloping on the saxophone, but the piano and bass have incredibly static volumes. The articulations of all of the instruments are all static and inhuman. Obviously, if you could get live players it would be thousands of times better, but I understand that many people don't have that luxury; if you're going to use samples, you need to work hard to make sure they SOUND as close to a live performance as possible.
Another element that's missing (which is thankfully a little easier to handle) is the lack of room reverb. Right now the entire performance sounds dry, when in real life there would be some reverb caused by the room the performers are in. Utilize some reverb, make it sound like they're playing in a space - that helps a great deal, when it comes to making the performance sound 'real'.
That bass sticks out like a sore thumb. I understand it needs to repeat for a jazz performance (that's how jazz improve works), but don't mix it so close to the front. It's the least interesting element in the mix, so put it behind the sax and piano a little more. While it's a cool effect to have it play every quarter (it kind of has a 'walking' feeling), don't over rely on it - do some different motions to break it up from time to time. The beginning and end change it up a little, which helps, so don't be afraid to break up that rhythmic pattern a little in the middle, too. Even in live jazz performances changing up the rhythm won't throw off the improvisation much, as the other performers can still predict the harmonic relations their improv will have.
It's a really cool little track, but I'm afraid the execution does knock it below the OCR bar. Thanks for the submission, though, and I hope some of what I said helps for your future tracks!

A new remixer called Prominion has claimed Fortuna from SF SNES. He's not yet a part of the forum, but he'll probably join us soon.
    Welcome aboard, Prominion!
    ---
We are now up to 14 claimed tracks: 9 for disc 1, 5 for disc 2. Three tracks left for disc 1 before we have a full disc of claims!
EDIT: I would've put this up yesterday, but I was having trouble getting it working. Here is a new signature banner for folks to use if they are interested. The link to this thread is already embedded - just copy and past into your signature and away you go!

I see Zoness is unclaimed for the second disc, so I'd like to hog it for myself and throw my hat into the ring.
Think I have a nice direction for the track. Something along the lines of chill-down electronica/chiptune. I'll listen to the track, get a good idea of the structure of the song and start kicking around some ideas this week.

.....You guys might not know this, but Wise used A LOT of references to stuff. Like "Bayou Boogie" uses practically the same drum line as "In The Air Tonight" by Phil Collins. Know that there's a bunch of other songs he referenced as well....

Hey, Trev, I originally was going to include "Select" as my piece, but....I've decided to go "Records 1" all the way, sorry, Classic.
It's gonna be sort of a tribute to "Can't Stop Me Now" by Queen....since I believe they both follow the same chord structure?
    You're good.
Let's see what you can come up with-and who's track get in the main album and who's is bonus/extra, shall we?

@TheChargingRhino -- I don't know about 'Staff Roll,' but I'd be curious to see what we could come up with your WIP of 'Corneria Has Fallen...But There is Still Hope (Star Fox 2 "Records 1"/SF64 "Select" Mix.' I though maybe doing something similar to Hyakutaro Tukumo's 'The Longest Voyage' (http://66.90.91.26/ost/technosoft-game-music-collection-vol.-7-reincarnation/slfgrtmczf/17-the-longest-voyage.mp3) could be great as it would be a nice way to showcase your piano skills and allow me to explore guitar composition further. Again, I will need a MIDI of your track to start working on it.
    What do you think?

Consider it yours. I have also put you down as a violin performer. Welcome aboard, Trev!
As a fan of his music, I'm happy to announce that @bLiNd has submitted a track for the Venom Orbital/Base boss, Phantron! Very glad to have him aboard too.
Slimy has expanded his first claim to include the Venom Base from Star Fox SNES and he has also submitted a track for all the main Star Fox themes. Sounds great so far!
Also, just a quick note to anyone looking to claim: I have attached a copy of our project overview to the top of the thread, so folks can see where we are in the project and what tracks are already claimed. I have also attached the source tracks from each game to this spreadsheet (well, most of them as of when this post went up) so you can listen to everything and see if there is anything you're interested in claiming too.
I hope to see more claims soon!

I find myself going around in circles with my current WIP actually -- it basically means I went as far as I could arrangement-wise for an orchestra piece (which is probably the one music genre I'm the less familiar and comfortable with).
I'm gonna start hunting down a remixer with a good understanding of orchestra composition to collab with so he can help me out but if someone out there feels like he is the man of the situation and is interested, please contact me :3

It is the level clear jingle; but its the special one that plays when Diddy breaks the barrel at the end of the stage, not at the end of the game like you have insinuated. It can play at the end of EVERY level if you choose to. >_>
Good points there, I won't pick that apart, except that I love the source as well.A New Place is a beautifully sung song, in my opinion. Yeah, the main source may not come in until then, but the basic rhythms play throughout.Gibberish? Really? I think quite a few people would like to talk to you since you just called their language gibberish. Just because you can't understand it doesn't make it gibberish. I can't understand it, but they're still beautiful. I view them as more of an instrument since I can't understand them, and that makes it even better. And because you can't understand them makes them illegitimate? Really? Show me the flowchart to explain your point, because to me and many MANY others I think your claim makes no sense. But the run run run is funny...I honestly like it, and the lyrics are well written. I find that they mesh quite well with the track. The original was more of a WIP than this. To quote Geoffrey Taucer: So the original was rushed and he wasn't happy with it. Hence the improvements, as I see it, found in this version.
The recorder makes it sound like "It's over... wait what's this! DRAMATIC!". And the lyrics describe K. Rool's thoughts before and during that battle on his airship. They're well written too! Even though Nekofrog wrote them a few years back. If you have any problem with those, tell him. You'll have to wait for a response though!Well most of what you said was "Vocals are terrible!" sooo... Your point is moot. I know all this is your opinion, but you basically said you hate the lyrics in all these tracks. Also, good music is when the vocals are treated as another instrument, not a way to recite poetry over the music. Even Trapped in the Minds' rapping is treated as an instrument, not just poetry. I find that the lyrics were well done on all these tracks, personally.

The songs you mentioned are (in the same order you mentioned them) Jib Jig, Klomp's Romp, and Snakey Chantey, which WERE covered on the project by Patrick Burns, Joren de Bruin, and Tepid. Don't worry, they weren't left out

I am writing original music for a videogame that I am working on with some friends. I have made two tracks so far, the title theme and a boss fight theme. I would love to hear what you all think about it and what I could improve upon. I plan on making more music for the game in the future, when the game idea itself is more developed and mature.
I used the Linux MultiMedia Studio to make this.
