I love both this genre, and the Hollow Knight OST. I'm not certain if my skill level would be adequate for an OCR album like this, but I'd love to see this happen and would definitely at least try out for it.

Guys if it helps, i've sequenced a new MIDI. All the problems listed have been fixed (Including an added drum track)

Thank you so much for picking this theme.  I love all the NES Godzilla songs, and Saturn is right up there near the top spot (along with Jupiter and maybe Pluto).  Excited to hear some remixes!!

    Hmm...
    ...Any idea on how to transpose the piece from 12 bpm to about 140 bpm without it sounding like a crushed mess? 0_o;

By open source, you mean any game soundtrack included and not just specifically Hollow Knight? I know there was some pull for a an old Godzilla game soundtrack a while back. :)

Hmm, I'll need to play the game first and really get a feel for it. I like the genre choices, tho; I can do symphonic electro epic.

Since I own the game, I'll give you a heads up sometime later, when I finish it, lol.

I'd probably never be able to produce a track worthy of the album, but if this gets any traction, I happen to have some midis from the game if artists have need: piano transcriptions of the title theme, resting grounds, Troupe Leader Grimm, and Nightmare King Grimm; the Path of Pain; vs the Hollow Knight; vs The Radiance; and the White Palace.

This genre is up my alley so i'm down.
In case there's not enough interest in Hollow Knight specifically i'd be open to having a open source album of this nature.

Okay, before I do any pitch here, I'd like to direct your attention and maybe some of your time to take a listen to this soundtrack to Serious Sam 4:
I want to focus specifically on how the primary genre is epic cinematic score complete with fanfares, vocals and more and when in battle, it transitions to superb metal/rock/electronic or a mix of all three as needed and the fight version is a variation of the main (slower) theme of the level you just heard. It's a fantastic blueprint and it provides an amazing cohesive whole to the entire soundtrack and I just adore it.

So, now the pitch: I recently played Hollow Knight and I noticed quite a few leitmotifs were repeated in varying fashions - from the major area tunes to when it changes to 'dangerous' to when it changes to a boss variant/version of the same tune. It's pretty seamless how Hollow Knight links it's themes across several tracks and you don't even realize it! So what if we had an album that took the Serious Sam 4 blueprint above and pushed the Hollow Knight soundtrack to epic cinematic score that progresses to outright mayhem and crazy orchestral metal/rock/electronic by the end for each track before ending it out as the remixer(s) desire? Would there be interest in an album for Hollow Knight that has this specific vision in mind?

    The People's Remix Competition 431
    PRCv18-11

Hello everyone and Welcome to the People's Remix Competition!
In PRC429 it was Marcusg who got the win. Wassup Thunder, Souperion and TheVodouQueen couldn't stop him. Didn't got the source yet so here's a selection by myself. A difficult one, because it's from Godzilla and the MIDI's are in 12 BPM.

The deadline is Wednesday August 18th 2021 at 10:59 am ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT), check the link https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC431 for the exact time left. Make sure that the song is uploaded to ThaSauce or that there’s a download link posted in this thread.
You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that if you use ThaSauce, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix if you use ThaSauce. Of course you can also upload it somewhere else and put a download link in this thread.
Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread.
Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score.
The winner of this round may select the source for PRC433.
Everyone can enter, no votes are doubled.
Marcusg still may pick a source, send it to me so I can use it for this or the next round.

You can find the full rules list at this page as well.

    GOOD LUCK!

    It's results time.
Wassup Thunder did a bonus mix.
TheVideoGamer got 10 points and the last place wooden spoon.
TheVodouQueen received 15 points and second place.
And the winner of PRC430 is Souperion with 17 points.
Souperion you are the winner. You may pick a source for PRC432. Again I didn't have time to vote this time and didn't listen to the songs yet, I'll do that later (also for PRC428 and PRC429).
Send the source to me (with a MID/MP3 file, otherwise send a second source with a MID file) by PM, other options are PM me @ ThaSauce or by e-mailing to bambombim@gmail.com (I prefer a PM @Ocremix). Send your source as fast as you can, but before next Wednesday (11 August 2021), 11:00 AM ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT).
You may select any source from any game, but not a source with an OverClocked remix or a source which has been used in PRC before. An overview of the past PRC's can be found in the following links (I recently updated this site):
    http://sites.google.com/site/bambombim/prc
http://bambombim.googlepages.com/PRCRemixList.doc (also downloadable via the link above).
https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC430 for the votes and comments.
PRC431 starts in a couple of minutes (didn't receive a source so I pick one myself).

The Vodoú Queen reacted to Gario in Creating Counter-Melodies and Additional (Parallel) Harmony Lines in VGM Remixes
If you're looking to learn how to write independent lines that compliment an existing lead, there's an entire compositional art dedicated to just that called "Counterpoint". You can read "Fux Gradus Ad Parnassum" for a fairly complete presentation on how to do counterpoint, but for the short-short version:
Four types of motion (aka two notes moving at the same time) are used to create independence between lines, from "most" independent to "least":
Counter Motion (notes move in opposite direction)
Oblique Motion (one note moves while the other stands still)
Similar Motion (notes move in the same direction but by different amounts)
Parallel Motion (notes move in the same direction and by the same amount)
All of this motion can (and should) be used, but be careful when moving in parallel motion to not move in parallel unison (the notes will sound like the same note, losing the independence), parallel octaves (same issue as moving in unison - you lose the voice), and parallel fifths (fifths discourage motion in music, moving in parallel makes the lines sound disjointed). Furthermore, do not move in similar motion into an octave, unison, or fifth. Oblique motion shouldn't lead into a dissonance, but it can lead out of one. Overall chord intervals shouldn't be dissonant, so don't lead into dissonance between your two notes, but decorative notes (like passing or neighbor tones) can be dissonant without too much issue.
Aside from that, go nuts, the world is your oyster and all that jazz. This is a primer on traditional counterpoint, which kinda ignores some modern music (dissonance is generally more accepted nowadays, for example), but it should act as a nice guideline if you're having trouble making independent lines in your music in the first place.
This has been a crash course on basic voice leading and counterpoint from yours truly. Hope it helps.

    Welcome to the voting stage
The mixing stage is over. This round has 3 songs and 1 bonus mix by Wassup Thunder. The following people compete against each other:
    Souperion
    TheVideoGamer
    TheVodouQueen

    To vote, do the following:
Visit https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC430 and listen to all the entries
Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen or click PM.
Fill in the entries from first to third in the ThaSauce form or fill in your top 3.
    State a reasoning for it.
Participants are encouraged to vote and leave feedback. They get a 3 point bonus, but they are not allowed to vote for their own track. They only have to fill in their top 2, leave the third box empty.
Always look in this thread to find out who's the winner of the round after the voting stage instead of only looking at ThaSauce for the results.

You have until Monday August 2nd 2021 6:59 AM ThaSauce time (11:00 UTC, 12:00 GMT) to vote.

If you vote by PM make sure that your top 3 is clear. I prefer something like this:
    (To)
    (Subject)
    PRC ### Vote
    (Message):
    1: (remixer A )
    2: (remixer B )
    3: (remixer C )

@MarcusgI didn't receive the source for PRC431 yet. Can you send it to me?
