Dropout during rendering (sonar)

Kontakt allows control for that inside a host? I thought it was for standalone only. -
Dropout during rendering (sonar)
SnappleMan replied to Geoffrey Taucer's topic in Music Composition & Production
Try switching export modes (if sonar does that, I'm sure it does). When Cubase was giving me the same problems with some synths, I'd just switch to real time export mode which exports the song as it plays through the sequencer. Check for something similar within Sonars audio export dialogue box. -

Final Fantasy VII - Fighting (Rock Remix)
SnappleMan replied to James_The_Composer's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
This happens every time someone can't get past his own ego and accept the truth about his work. Eventually this will turn into a lulz thread, and then it'll either be locked or just abandoned. And we'll never hear anything else from James_The_Composer ever again. He'll get on his live journal and write stuff like "So what a let down OCRemix was, I thought they would be nice people but it turns out they're dicks. Oh well, I'll just release my music here anyway." And his 12 fans who don't know any better will support him until he disappears into obscurity and never touches music again. -

Hahahahah, well played tensei. -
Your changing of the key in this song has made it far less enjoyable than the original. You should stick to how it used to be, it made sense. This just sounds dissonant and gross.

Final Fantasy VII - Fighting (Rock Remix)
SnappleMan replied to James_The_Composer's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
It would be great if James' song had an intro, and an ending, and was a real song and not just a random clip cut out FROM a song. But whatever. Kids these days are too busy being told they can do anything and be anything, and feel like anything that they do is good enough cuz they like it, or they tried, or whatever else. You can't reason with them. With experience comes the ability to tell that you really aren't a fraction as good as you thought. -

Final Fantasy VII - Fighting (Rock Remix)
SnappleMan replied to James_The_Composer's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Your imagination needs an imagination. The arrangement is bland and boring. Stop being overly defensive or you'll never improve as a musician, and believe me when I say, you need to improve as a musician... we all do... -

SnappleMan replied to James_The_Composer's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
You can keep ignoring the arrangement argument all you want, I won't let you live it down. Panning, EQ, compression,$10,000 worth of the best samples out there wont help your song if it lacks musical content. You need to rewrite it so it has feeling, emotion, a reason to live. Not just exist start to finish with nothing in between. -

SnappleMan replied to James_The_Composer's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
None of this explains why the arrangement is so weak. Do you plan on ignoring it and hoping it'll go away? Sorry to be so harsh, but in terms of musical content, you have failed -
Echo Mia MIDI PCI card for sale
SnappleMan replied to Arcana's topic in Music Composition & Production
Bam! Interested <3 -
No, he's talking about Qsound. CPS2 wavetables. As far as I know, the only way to get that sound is to hack the samples out of each rom.

[DnB]Kirby Superstar - "Dark Energy"
SnappleMan replied to BlackPanther's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
There's the problem. The fact that you think sticking to a 4/4 time signature is the only way. You don't have to stick to the original tempo, which is insanely fast. The better way would be to do a little bit of math with the time signatures. You can still play the song the same way it is now but over a halftime drumbeat that accentuates the odd time, and it'll sound great. Experiment with the rhythm, it'll really get this song going. -
New Zero Wing Remix redone from scratch
SnappleMan replied to JustinC721's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Tempo and rhythm are two different things. You need to be aware of the groove the song NEEDS. That's dependent on the melodies and the natural sounding rhythm of the song without drums. Right now it just sounds messy and off. -
[DnB]Kirby Superstar - "Dark Energy"
SnappleMan replied to BlackPanther's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Bad news, you ruined the source. You took all those beautiful odd rhythms and turned them into a boring ass generic beat. Not to mention you failed at successfully reproducing the original notes, melodies and harmonies. If you're gonna go in this direction, you should learn the song on a musical level first, so you can arrange it well. Right now all the things you've done to it make it sound bad. There is a ton of room for arrangement here, but I think this source is way out of your league. -
Ys - Tower of the Shadow of Death (Hot Darm Tower Power)
SnappleMan replied to Aleph's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Too conservative my ass. Instrumentation counts. The only thing I'd say is to liven up the drums, bass and rhythm section overall. Play with all the awesome time changes and odd meters going on here. Seriously. Don't change things, expand on them. Fuck OCRs "too conservative" bullshit. -
New Zero Wing Remix redone from scratch
SnappleMan replied to JustinC721's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Great intro! Once the intro is done, everything starts getting weaker and weaker though... Your percussion is repetitive and the sounds don't seem to fit in this context. Or rather, what you're doing with the drums in this particular song, just weak. The lead instrument is completely flat and boring. You took a cool melody and killed it with bad phrasing. The rhythm in the song doesn't do anything for the melody, things just don't work at all. Keep the intro, change the rest... please -
Final Fantasy VII - Fighting (Rock Remix)
SnappleMan replied to James_The_Composer's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Fake guitars are a huge turnoff. Also, the song just starts. No buildup, nothing different to get you into it... just the same boring groove beginning to end. You do have some decent ideas in there, but overall this is just a glorified MIDI file that doesn't have the structure of a "song" just yet. Calling this done is a big mistake. The weakest thing here are those god awful drums. Not the sound of the samples, but the sequence. It's so boring and dull. You need to create more interesting things with the rhythm section, or reinforce it properly with your rhythm guitars and a bassline that keeps things going. No direction at all. The main thing here is the lack of musical diversity. There is nothing interesting going on musically, just bland overall. I understand the "melody over production" argument, but you are seriously lacking in both aspects with this track. Think about reconsidering calling this done. Seriously. -
OC ReMix Special on NEW Groove Bias Drum Library! (Now With Freebies)
SnappleMan replied to zircon's topic in Announcements
Dude, I've been playing with this for a while, it's killer! I'm thoroughly impressed by this library, mainly because it sounds good out of the box (or out of the .rar archive... so to speak...) and yet still has headroom for my own effects and processing (a big FUCK YOU to EZdrummer in that regard...) Great work so far! -
Before you go nuts trying to find fault in your VSTs, I'd check out your DAWs freeze settings. I have mine set so when I freeze tracks the channel strip is not frozen alone with the VST. This way I can control the panner, volume and EQ. So yeah, first check if everything is bounced when you freeze, it may be that simple.

Advice for Live Reording (Hardware Related)

I highly recommend a condenser mic for vocals, it'll just sound better. -
