  1. Blast, it is simply the DK movie we already saw. That said, it's the greatest fooking footage of DK to date most likely! And, hey, there's sound now.
  2. Amen. BUT! If you really could send drawings to this stage with your DS, YOU KNOW (DON'T FUCKING DENY IT) THAT YOU'D PRETTY MUCH JUST DRAW LOTS OF COCKS. It's what Pictochat is for. And that is why it would be the worst/best idea ever: fighting on top of a giant, floating penis. Edit: Sakurai - "Whoa! Watch out, it's slippery up there! Are you're sure you'll be okay?" I have not taken this harsh reality nearly far enough.
  3. You will never ever see me whine about this project's tenure in limbo, and if you keep reading, you will find out why. I am bumping this thread, even though I have no idea on which page it sits currently (too lazy to check if it's on page one). I understand that I'm just some random, faceless lurker guy with no musical talent to speak of, but I consider myself a firm supporter of this project. I've been with OCR and it's affiliates since... well, at least 2002. I got to witness a lot of cool things being ushered in, and a lot of cool people have came and went in those years. However, as far as the music itself goes, there was one definite milestone for me: Kong in Concert. I have about 200 or so ReMixes on my computer (lots of vintage & new), comprised of the best that my favorite games and ReMixers have put out over the years, but when KiC came out I was blown away. Perhaps it had to do with the turbulance that the judjes were going through at the time -- I don't claim to understand that drama -- but the mixes in that project just seemed so free and majestic compared to what I was used to at the time. Vigilante's "Beneath the Surface" was downright inspirational and singlehandedly renewed my faith in the community and what it's scope could/should be/is. Ever since, I've paid EXTRA-special attention to the projects over the years. Hedgehog Heaven definitely had some issues, but they've all been incredibly enjoyable on the whole, otherwise. From what I've heard from the Sunnoning of Spirits WIPs, Joker's teaser (and the other teaser you had on the project forums) Hale Bopp's track and djp's track... You guys are going to slaughter us with awesomeness. I'm trying to boost morale by letting you guys know that it's OKAY if this thing doesn't come out until a long-ass time, because I know what the artists on your project are capable of and I've had a glimpse at your standard of quality, and I KNOW FOR A FACT that it will all be worth the wait. I'm pretty sad about SnappleMan dropping out or whatever... next to heartbroken... but I take reassurance in your posture to work to release the current tracklist! Kyle, Kureejii, and everyone: thank you so much for all your hard work. I truely hope when this is all said and done that you will take comfort and satisfaction in AT LEAST my praise and adoration for your vicarious sacrifice of time and LIFE to produce... this gorgeous body of work. I think the fact that it's all Tales of music is enough to keep me excited forever, anyway. Best of luck to you all, and thanks! ANinyMouse
  4. N00b, you can map the functions to whichever button you choose in the final version. These are just the PRESETS. But yes, I can see A being better for grabbing than -. Honestly, I can't see the "Wiimote only" method being too useful. At first I was kind of interested to give it a shot, but the placement of the B trigger seems to give it a steep learning curve for something so back-to-basics as the remote. I can see the D pad being more percise for some things, but I imagine short hopping will be very difficult.
  5. Obviously, the method of imput for tilts and smashes has to differentiated at some level. My impression so far seems to be that if you press the D pad and 2 at the same time, you'll start charging a smash. My gut says that the method for tilts is probably to hit the direction you want followed by 2, but this wouldn't work for u-tilts, as you'd start jumping. I think that the D pad 1 & 2 should be the method for smash imput, while just the D pad and 2 should be dedicated to titlts. Keep in mind, the controls have been promised to be completely customizable/mappable. EDIT Hi kids EDIT EDIT http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/howto/basic/basic04.html D'oh!
  6. With only a mere extra month of developement time, I'm not sure it is entirely realistic to dote on the possibility of voice chat for very long, especially considering: A) all the other stuff they're cramming in Brawl, Nintendo's never done it on Wii before, and C) The schedule for Brawl seems to be down to the wire as it is. The only reason that voice chat for Brawl could be desireable in the long run is due to the friend code restriction system, in my opinion. Random assholes would just be, well, annoying. People tend to play stupid music through their mic quite often, as well. But yeah, even though your "friends" could be a bunch of cocky GameFAQs kids you don't know, at least you'll have an easy wayto keep track of who they are so you can avoid them (or just not use voice chat) when they're on. Now, I'll agree that the "use one of three taunts to deliver pre-entered text messages!" method sure doesn't sound very ideal at all, but when your hands are so occupied there isn't much else besides, again, voice chat. I dunno. Something's better than nothing.
  7. What does he do? I know he has big ears and, uh... jumps. Maybe something that has to do with a ring? Is that right?
  8. I hope so. She has a pretty unique personality among Nintendo gals. I love the color scheme they used in her character design, too.
  9. actually, i think there's a lot of high expectations for the new single player! the previous single player modes were short and lacking for me. i hope the single player in brawl will be harder and lengthier and i hope it peaks my interest with its story. overall, i hope it satiates my needs and is a blast in the face to play. i sure hope the story goes deep and is extremely gratifying.
  10. You don’t have time to ponder such questions, as Link has just grabbed a Smash Ball.
  11. For fuck's sake, how are we supposed to even pronouce that? The DOJO translation team really outdid themselves with that one.
  12. Maggot Brain's seeing a sudden resurge in popularity lately, isn't it? I remember when a good friend of mine showed me this album last year; I was blown away. To call anything the "best ever" is rather pretentious, isn't it? However, I personally think that it could be said that the raw emotion in "Maggot Brain" is more or less unparalleled. After a while, you don't even notice if anyone else is playing or not. It's very absorbing. That startling first note, too, really sets the tone. Finally, since he plays it through a wah-wah, at times it sounds as if the words of remorse are trying to escape through his guitar. You can almost hear them sometimes... It's funny, cause when I saw "greatest guitar ever recorded" this song came to mind. I don't own any other songs that I'd consider above it, at any rate.
  13. Yeah... maybe he only puts the sleeper on the more "normal" proportioned characters, and has a standard front grab for large or awkward characters? Bowser's spikes sure wouldn't make putting him in a sleeper hold too feasible.
  14. Sure is a lot of lolicon on that site...
  15. Oh dear God in Heaven, if you see fit to inspire Sakurai with divine ideas of a DKC2-themed stage with lots of DKC2 music, one could NOT complain at all, ever.
  16. This is my favorite update so far. Notice how you don't see "Ocarina of Time Medley" for the Bridge of Eldin stage? There's probably going to be way more than four songs per stage to pick from! I also love that they kept the Melee-style menus and changed the dark blue & red to white & gray, as it really fits the Wii, I think. Plus it just makes things seem brighter in general. Also, another neato thing: looks like each stage is going to have the original title art for its game, i.e. Bridge of Eldin has a little The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess logo on the bottom right! Pretty nifty, even if they did keep the Smash Icons from previous titles, which I also like.
  17. And I agree with you here. Really, I think we were all trying to say about the same thing, we were just emphasizing different aspects of the same issue. So far, the balance of story and gameplay in Prime 3 seems a little off but not by much. I took a break from it to finish Fire Emblem 9 for the GCN, actually. I like RPGs better than any other genre, personally. Perfect Dark for the N64 was the only FPS I could sit and play for 6 hours straight, though the action/puzzle moments in Metroid definitely keep me interested. I hope Ridley shows up again later... I'd like to know if Retro gave a reason for him going from Meta to Organic, if there even is an answer other than "we though Meta-Ridley looks cooler and less like a Dinosaur." *shrug*
  18. Bravo, Jack. I have to say I agree. This is totally off-topic, but regarding what Injin said about Zelda story being secondary: as for me & my two sisters, whenever a new Zelda game comes out, we pretty much know what the gameplay is gonna be like right off the bat; it's a Zelda game, therefore there will be dungeons and treasures and bosses with sidequests. No, sir, the story and the art style, I would argue, are indeed the MAIN reasons to buy a new Zelda game, since they have carried a trend of being inter-related ever since the first two. Twilight Princess was a solid game, but it was things like character developement (Midna) and her mysterious past that drove me to keep playing. Trust me... after 9 dungeons that all play similarly, some other factor has to step in besides hack-n-slash. Now then, getting back to Metroid... So far I've gotten so far as to destroy the first huge generator on Bryyo. I was just about to head to the Thorn Jungle area when I read ahead in a walkthrough how much crap I'd have to do before even reaching the boss, so I let it rest for the night. I've noticed that after three days of using the advanced control scheme, my percision and skill with the wiimote has greatly increased. On my first day, I kept hitting C instead of B, + instead of -, I'd be waggling all over the place and I'd forget I had to turn by looking to the right or left. It'd been a good while since I'd seriously played a first-person game. Once I've gotten the hang of it, though, the freedom in the control scheme and the speed you can react is fantastic.
  19. I really liked your post, but honestly, though... I think you'd be naive to assume that most of the little details in Super Metroid were supposed to make sense or even be meaningful in relation to a continuing story. Look how long it took Nintendo to desire to pick Metroid back up, after all. Also to consider is the prevalence of retcon with core Nintendo fanchises - Zelda, for instance. The original NES Zelda games were created as if there might never be another. As more Zelda games came out, more story was gradually added. By Ocarina, a mythos had been established, etc. Metroid, being that it has a vague storyline by nature and having fewer games than Zelda, can only claim as much. My point, in case it was lost, is simply this: aside from the in-game events in each Metroid game, most of the back story they provide concerns Samus alone, i.e. she was raised by Chozo after Ridley killed her parents. Everything else is so vague and disjointed it hardly even seems important. Good games don't need good stories to be good, and there are even good games with cliche stories, like Riddick for X-Box. Metroid games have next to no story at all. Even Samus' history was retconned, I'd wager. "Main character did some things and this happened" is all there usually is, and that doesn't seem to me like a very skilled narrative. Prime 2 & 3 were the first Metroid games that tried to introduce some semblance of a concrete connonical storyline, in my opinion, and I like it. Do I need a reason for Samus to be killing lots of things to have a good time? She IS a bounty hunter, after all. I'd wager no, but I certainly don't feel like Prime 3 is any LESS of a game because it seeks to de-mystify Samus' world! Gameplay-wise and graphically, this is the strongest title on Wii and the best Metroid game so far. Story was never even important outside of the baby metroid and mother brain, so why should that be a judging factor? Prime 3 actually has one.
  20. Jigglypuff would be a welcome return, that's for sure. I think perhaps one of her B moves that's not Rest needs to be tweaked, though, since like many Melee people she only really had a handful of useable moves. Pound is incredible, though. More than anything, though, the best part of Jigglypuff is her voice, heh. JIGGLYPUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUF!!
  21. I like the idea of Resetti, since he's by far the most violent/menacing character in Animal Crossing, and also... a mole. A mole with mining gear and a crazed expression. The first time you meet him is far more memorable than any other character besides perhaps Nook himself, so I agree that he seems the most likely when it comes to weeding out a playable character. If they go the route of a customized AC:WW hero, then I would assume there'd be one or two default configurations in place to allow for people who don't own the game. Nintendo will not create a $35 character for Brawl that only some can use... If anything, the custom hero avatar would be more of an easer egg. And, personally... I'd love for Miis to belong to a totally separate character slot. If not player-controlled, then definitely as NPC enemies in some kind of extra single player mode. Subspace Emissary has enough going on in the way of enemies. After all, who would choose Fighting Wire Frames over Miis? A killjoy, that's who. Random Miis would be immesurably awesome, offering an unprecedented level of incorperation outside of the Wii "OS". At the end of the day, Mii incorperation is what adds all the replayability to Wii Sports & Wario Ware: Smooth Moves. I see it being no different with Brawl!
  22. I think my spirit would be crushed if this was the first week without a character profile update...
  23. Quit stroking your e-penis. Drama drama. This has been the absolute best update of the entire site's run. I'm not even sure why, but cutscenes like this, even as short as that... get me HOT. TOTALLY feel the footage THRUSTING all over me. We can't actually thrust, because that's a standard's problem, but... man! I can totally feel it.
