  1. Ouch, dude. Lol at camping out for an official tournament with no unlocked characters >_>
  2. Surprisingly, you're the first person I've seen ask this, even on smashboards... I have no idea. @ atma: I saw a video of DK and his back air is so freakin' fast, he got off 3 in one jump. It was nuts.
  3. I think it's incredible how they made pretty much every character usable. Each one has at least one decent kill move that's feasible to use this time. They brought down the top characters and upped the lowest, but made everyone cooler like, by 10x. I was scared Marth & Falco would be too overpowered still, but it seems like it won't be too bad. Plenty of the slower characters are way stronger than they are, anyway. Ike & Ganondorf are so freakin' deadly... it can only be described as sexy. It's gonna be hard as hell to pick a character to get good with. I might go with DK just because everyone else hardly ever plays as him
  4. See, here's my biggest beef the current gen Pokemon games: the finicky auto-leveling! If you play a match online, everyone plays at an equal level. This goes for D/P AND Battle Revolution. If you play LOCALLY on D/P, there's NO AUTO-LEVELING! Why, Game Freak, why? I've lost lots of tournaments to players of lesser skill just because they bothered to raise their Pokes to Lv.100 while most of mine stay around the 45-65 range! If there isn't going to be any Wi-Fi, MAKE SURE YOU'RE PLAYING BATTLE REVOLUTION!! Bring your own Wii and game and TV if you have to! Two tournies I went to last year were ruined for a lot of people because of this.
  5. I find crouching to the beat to be more humorous at times.
  6. fuck fuck fuck... never any cool nintendo events in D.C. where it would at least be reasonable to go... stupid South.
  7. Yup. Well, it's cool to see some people are kinda feeling similar to the way I do. I hadn't spoken seriously about Pokemon in several months.
  8. It only works when you're over a surface you can stand on. It's basically going to be used as an approach tactic, e.g. a way to get closer to your opponent while keeping your intent vague and your options open. Bowser really got a significant boost this time...
  9. I agree with the Damned, though; the main storyline and the almost nonexistent character development in these games really makes replays boring. Once you go through the main story once, you're good, and you just keep raising Pokemon ad infinitum. BUT, what would you rather have: a more standard, story-driven Pokemon JRPG or a community-driven Pokemon MMORPG? I'm kinda torn. With Colosseum, we got a more story-driven game that put serious limits to what Pokemon were available and other all-important series staple elements. It was kind of interesting in that the Pokemon available to you seemed more... essential -- like pieces to a puzzle. In other words, you only had so many that could put things to sleep, so many that had water-type attacks, etc. The extreme limitation felt stupid at times when all your guys were so horribly weak, but it was... different. However, if you take the "classic quintessential Pokemon dream game," the MMO, there's far more to consider. It's now become a project that is far more than a reskinned, rebalanced handheld title. ... Something I always kind of wished they'd do was to present "Pokemon Training" more as a sport rather than a way of life. In the anime, there are plenty of people who raise and live with Pokemon who don't even battle. And it makes sense to me, since they're wild animals with various levels of tameness, that those deemed "trainers" who pit their Pokemon against other's in tests of skill and strength should INDEED be trained and taught how to compete without mortally endangering anyone. With the recent turn to high fiction that the new legendaries have taken to (rulers of time & space? god of creation? whatever happened to genetic clones & birds that altered the weather?), I'm kind of worried about how things are going to go from here. I mean, with guys like Dialga, Arseus and Giratina roaming around, you essentially have to backtrack and move away from "Pokegods" since, well, how do you improve on a god? They're the top of the food chain, so to speak. Mewtwo was never an omniscient god-Pokemon, he was just a pissed-off clone who was tired of being trifled with. His power level might have been over 9000, but that doesn't mean he could reach through a rift in space and throw his opponent into another dimension... I had a lot of fun with D/P, but I didn't play it for nearly as long as I played the other generations. After I won one of those local Gamestop tournaments last year, I've only briefly picked it back up from time to time. D/P is more refined than its predecessors, but the complexity also jumped up quite a bit as well. Every Pokemon generation always goes the same for me... once you figure out who're the top Pokemon in the metagame, you begin to forget about the rest from the bottom up. Things get stale. Part of that is because you're still just selecting animation from a menu after all these years, but a big part is still that you see so much of the same time after time after time. I think... it come down to the huge range of power and usefulness that the Pokemon find themselves in. I think what I'd like more than "fluff and side-quests" is an in-game motivator to actually win and get better. Of course that's the POINT of Pokemon, but I'm talking about... well, let me put it to you this way: in most RPGs, you get to a certain point, the story ends, and at that point what does it matter how strong you are or what skills you developed? All you can do is mess around. There are no more serious challenges. In Pokemon, the "serious challenges" are simply the battles themselves. There's no deeper meaning, no rewards, no character development... just battle. Don't get me wrong, the battles themselves are exciting, but once your Pokemon get to, say, Lv100, all the sudden there isn't even a "get stronger" aspect. Assuming you're satisfied with a Pokemon's invisible stat values, that's all you can do with the guy. After that, it's just about strategy and combos and minimizing luck, etc. ... I almost wish Pokemon was a more action-oriented game. TL;DR lol, good luck
  10. I'm thinking it's worth a shot, so long as there's some recognizable game music arrangement going on. Christmas song + video game song has been proven to work in the past 'round there parts, though it has been SOME time since the last one crossed the front page, I think.
  11. It sucks cause you KNOW we won't get Fire Emblem 3
  12. I used to lurk in unmod quite a bit, but I've never been one to post much on these forums. If the thread in question is older than mid-2004, though, no chance. I used to love the unique fad threads and all the "random advice" or "talk about your day today" threads. Everyone seems to remember "...and it made me smile" better than I do, though. On topic though... about how complete is this project? With the DOOM2 project being rushed a bit at the last minute, it's likely to be next. Haha, I remember when I though Summoning of Spirits was going to be a 2007 release... Edit: Actually, unmod had some good porn sometimes, too.
  13. What the hell broke page 58 so badly? I've never seen OCR that bad before.
  14. I could seed at least for a while... say, around two weeks? That'd help curve the huge spike that's gonna hit once this thing is exploding all over OCR. Hard to say past that, though. I need an external hard drive since my factory one is about fulllllllll.
  15. Here's a link for those who want to start a new game with transfer bonuses: http://serenesforest.net/fe10/transfer.html Of all the benefits, the weapon experience boost seems to be the most worthwhile. The stats don't help all THAT much (and you can only level up so many people to 20/20 in PoR,) but for characters like Ilyana, Zihark & Tauroneo (pretty much any tier-two units from part one as well) it can be a significant help. Just as a caution... certain "versions" of Dawn will freeze up if you try to have it read data from a memory card with any kind of save on Easy in PoR. So, basically, don't get cheeky and try to max out a ton of characters on Easy like I thought I could... You have to delete your Easy mode files on your gamecube. There's a secret ending in Dawn that has a HUGE list of requirements... Here they are (minor spoilers): Transfer Ike/Soren "A" support from PoR Send Black Knight into 1-Final Make Ike fight the Black Knight in Part 3 Chapter 7 (and both survive) Soren attacked Micaiah in 3-7 Spared Pelleas Soren attacked Pelleas in 3-Final Pelleas attacked Valtome in 4-2 Pelleas attacked Izuka. Brought Pelleas to Endgame Make Pelleas fight Sephiran in Part 4 Final Chapter-4 Pelleas survives Soren survives Saw the Pelleas-Almeda Epilogue Scene. (basically, your second time playing Dawn at least)
  16. I suddenly feel like listening to Turd Surfers atm.
  17. This thread has been donkey punched to hell by people who can't take their eyes off their e-penis. Argh. So, we find out that thealmightygoat is a total waste of time, finally and officially. He put on a good show, though. Guy's got talent, stringing along so many people. Hell, some of his middle posts seemed really convincing to me at first. I think all these attention whore "prophet" kids need to stfu, though, seriously. At this point, I'd wager the REAL info won't be available - at the earliest - until the day before the Japanese launch. Hong Kong always gets it first, and they're prett good about spilling beans. At least, that's what happened when Pokemon D/P came out. [/textwall]
  18. From Brawl Central: So what we have is Zelda's down B turning her into a totally new version of Shiek. Cool. Those Light Arrows look a lot cooler than Pit's, I think. We're starting to get a lot of bows and swords, though.
  19. OH DEAR GAWD TEN CHAR EDIT: Also, like... this has been the first decent week of updates since, like... October. I remember when they revealed Sonic on my birthday, and then the delay... I hope this thing's still going as planned.
  20. There are going to be so many unique characters in the final roster; it will be epic and huge. Honestly, I have trouble imagining what playing Brawl is going to be like with just THIS many new characters added into the mix! There are always going to be some characters that are way more popular than others, but even so... Pokemon Trainer and Olimar look to be my picks for favorite newcomer. I'm all for insane technical skill. I like the Ice Climbers, too, though, so I must be insane XD
  21. Brawl is in between the speed of SSB and SSBM, with a good amount of "floatiness." I don't think it can be described as "fast-paced" in light of Melee.
