  1. Actually, I think that's a Cracker Launcher Fox is holding.
  2. It's like... Up Smash Theatre. It's also absolutely gorgeou- oh. I guess that's a pretty common first reaction, huh?
  3. Hey guys. Just dropping by. I frequent the Smogon forums but I do drop by the OCR forums for the Pokemon & Brawl threads every once in a while. Anyway, I just got back from a convention and I'm feeling generous. I ended up playing Pokemon with a lot of people, and, well... Next week I've decided I'm going to have a Jirachi giveaway! I'm thinking about a good 20 at least, with the intention to meet some people who're into trading and battling. I'm going to do something similar on Smogon sooner or later, too. So, yeah, that's all. Happy Pokemoning.
  4. Honestly, I agree. Sure, it would be cool to see Sonic and Mario go at it again one more time before burying the hatchet on the DS, but my $50 is not going to hinge on the blue blur's inclusion or exclusion. Far from it. Hell, as far as I'm concerned, I'm already sold. TBH if we get another 3rd party character besides Snake, I'd want it to be a Belmont, a Megaman or Geno long before Sonic.
  5. My my my, has someone so quickly forgotten about ?As the other videos (and this one) should have shown you by now, in melee at least, where there's a will, there's a way. The tier system has it's purpose in that it helps quantify in the most general terms what characters are largely better than others at certain things. Where that lier list will deceive you is when a turely talented player comes along with a passion for Mewtwo, or Yoshi, or Bowser, or whoever. Arguably, it takes a greater ammount of skill to learn how to counter "higher tier" characters with "lower tier" ones, though like anything else it's all a matter of skill, memorization and practice. After all, another truely talented player could indeed have a hard on for Captain Falcon and go on to possibly usurp some of the theoretical players I described earlier. If every matchup was more or less decided from the start based on what character you picked then melee would be a cold, hard peice of shit. But it's not, thanks to the afformentioned (by another fine poster) efforts of HAL, "The Team," Sakurai and Nintendo. Brawl will never be worse than melee. Nintendo is funding this thing out their asses. I'm fucking excited. Guess I'll watch some more melee vids...
  6. Perhaps the millions of people worldwide who know anything about Pokemon at all could clue us in, right? Groudon is HUGE. That's gonna be a total bitch to avoid.
  7. You know what makes the new Yoshi's Story theme even awesomer? Masafuni Takada did this one! Honestly, after the composer list was revealed on day 1, there were only three composers I was really excited about: Masafumi Takada & Jun Fukuda (From Grasshopper, of Killer7 fame) and Motoi Sakuraba (who did Golden Sun). Seriously, I have the Killer7 OST and it's amazing. His style really shines through with the percussion and slide guitar. I get all bubbley just listening to this snippet~! BE EXCITED!
  8. Ah man... never fails. Someone links a Melee video on YouTube and I spend the next few hours just scopin' for good matches. That 1233 guy is like my hero. His DK is the sexiest thing I've ever seen. Except maybe for that one guy that was actually insanely good with Mewtwo years back... Man, underdogs ftw.
  9. Impossible, my good man, unless you have shitloads of hour+ tracks, etc.
  10. ...what's that smell? Like others have said, go download a Bit Torrent client. I like Azureus, myself. Just Google the terms and their web pages'll come up. After you have a client, go to the front page and click a torrent to download a small torrent file. Open the small torrent file and the client should begin your transfer process. Not too hard, right? I did this (finally) some 2 months ago and found a lot of great ReMixes this way. Granted, I didn't download everything. I stuck to ReMixers I like or games that I could identify with, so only about 50% of the mixes, really. As for my collection? I've read some of the posts in this thread, and man... months worth of music? Get real, man. I love music more than the average Joe, but I'm also friends with a hardcore music junkie so I know what a lot of "you" guys must be like. Personally, I'd like to think that I aquire new music at a rate that allows me to listen to everything I own and still out-listen most people. I'm not out to listen to everything; I'm not going to go broke over music. Anyway, 3,050 songs, 8.5 days, mostly mp3 or ACC files with a small peppering of high-definition music files. Granted, you're not going to see much in the way of 70s rock on my computer because of the SATURATION anyone can find on their radio dial. I do go for the older bands that I like a lot, though, like ZZ Top, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, Beach Boys, Dick Dale, Bill Withers, Astrud Gilberto, Lynyrd Skynyrd, CAN, Herbie Hancock, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, T. Rex, Van Morrison, Vince Guaraldi Trio, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, etc.
  11. The Simpsons, actually. The Gnomes episode. I saw it a few days ago. Man, I had as much fun laughing and making fun of the absolutely rediculous Persian Empire as I did with all the badass fights and gorgeous visuals. The only scene I thought was pushing it was (oddly enough?) the oracle girl. Just couldn't enjoy it. Manliest moment? When Leonidas was eating the apple. Oh, I lul'd HARD at that one. What made me laugh harder was that I was the only person laughing. Goes to show that you have to go to 300 looking to enjoy the damn movie to, you know, actually enjoy the comedic irony of it. Honestly, I laughed as much as I grunted. Even my female friend grunted with approval at several points (the african cow guys, saw-arm man, etc.)
  12. Something of note: the Wii doesn't have anything I'd consider "killer app" just yet. Twilight Princess is an A+ game, but it's a retooled Gamecube game. Obviously, a Zelda game built exclusively for the Wii would play and look quite different, I'd imagine. Excite Truck is a blast, but there's not much depth there outside custom soundtracks and multiplayer. Likewise, the myriad of party games out right now are a fantastic way to enjoy the Wii and offer great multiplayer, but there is little room for personal achievement. To be honest, the Wii is in a similar boat as the PS3 in that both are lacking "killer apps" right now. The difference is that because the Wii is cheaper, people aren't as inclined to make the PS3 investment; I know I'm not. Metroid, Smash Bros, Mario Galaxy are all slated to be big, beautiful, rewarding experiences, and more artistic games like No More Heros and Sadness will start to carve their own niche. Also, Pokemon. Pokemon is like crack. I should know >_>; Keep in mind, however, that Nintendo's 1st party titles are notoriously delayed. Let us all hope they can buck this trend... MGS4 and FFXIII are the biggies for PS3 that come to mind. Motorstorm and Tekken 5 are out right now, though, and they're great, deep games. So in that regard, the PS3 might (like last time) begin to hit it's stride before the Wii, with it's biggest first-year games hitting without too many delays. Those're my thoughts.
  13. Ten pages and still no DJ Doboy? Nobody does extended vocal mixes as good as Doboy. No one I've ever heard. This is as close as you can get to a live rave DJ. His mixes are all around 70-80 minutes long, in mp3 format. Sometimes they're themed around heartbreak, sometimes about friendship or elation. There are times when I just want to curl up in a warm breeze and others where I just can't seem to pound it loud enough. I've gotten chills. I have so much respect for the man's music that it's al I listen to in my car, ever, unless there's a passenger that can't stand trance. Do you like trance, or perhaps you just like to dance? http://djdoboy.com Navigate to his downloads page from that link. Dude has over 90 (ninety, as in over 90 hours of trance music to choose from) mixes to try out! My personal favorites are as follows, in the order they're listed. These links will simply take you to the "tracklisting" and album cover. There's a separate downloads page with everything on it. Vocal Edition 4 Vocal Edition 5 Vocal Edition 6 Vocal Edition 7 Vocal Edition 12 Vocal Edition 13 Eurojams 1 Suffice to say that I've been listening to DJ Doboy's stuff since 2003, and he hasn't bored me yet. Honestly, it's hard for me to fathom listening to trance tracks less than 75 minutes long anymore He also has a internet radio station and a forum. All free, of course, but you can send some cash his way via PayPal. Dude deserves it. Also, if you decide that mp3 isn't your format of choice, a simple message or email to him and he'll be more than happy to supply alternate filetype mirrors. Go!!
  14. I've been meaning to get some component cables, but the big-ass TV downstairs is a bad place for monopolizing. I'll wait 'til I get my own HD TV. Never got trapped by the cannon glitch, because there were a lot of people who sped through at about twice the speed I was going, even though I got my copy on launch day. I'll probably play through a second time. TP lacks a gimmick collectors sidequest, aside from the Poes, though. The pictographs in WW at least gave me some much-needed eye candy. I dunno, I guess after all the time I've spent playing OoT and MM I just like the idea of fighting a bajillion Skulltulas instead of a hundred Poes or whatever. Personal choice. Gotta admit, WW's character interaction was the most "natural-feeling" we've seen yet in a Zelda game, considering the sheer number of characters, tasks and secrets on Windfall and Outset alone. And then there was the trading sidequest with the Gorons, which I was sad had no counterpart in TP. But of course, it was the main point in MM, and MM still in my mind is the most astounding Zelda game ever. Just... so jam packed with content, but too short, really. Honestly, most Zelda games end up being A+ titles so I guess it becomes pointless to debate quantitative quality. Ball & Chain > all, though.
  15. Yeah, due to the fat $80 tag on the original (Bill Clinton was president then, I think; It's been a long time), I never owned the original. I rented it for the SNES the year it came out, and I had some fun with it. I' pretty sure it was the first RPG I'd played, though, but then I'm not sure when Super Mario RPG came out. Either way I ended up playing the zsnes rom but never got past the mountain pass when that fistfighter dude joins your party due to some glitch. Does the fact that I remember zero names from this game cue you in to how much I've played it before? I plan on getting this. I've always wanted to go back and play it. Plus, playing Pokemon Pearl without anyone in the US to battle online kinda sucks sometimes. DP is jawsome, though.
  16. I used to buy into that no items battlefield junk back in the day, when I was playing smash every day and trying to get a lot better. Nowadays, the only thing I like to turn off is the Ice Climber level since it's kind of annoying. That's it. Most people dislikethat level, though, to be honest, the sheer ammount of high vertical jumps that are required for the level really make certain characters shine that otherwise are difficult to play on mainly level playing fields, such as Mewtwo or Ness.
  17. Pyramid Head in that movie scared the living crap outta me, man. Skin ripping is never good times.
  18. ZX was fun and interesting, but the lack of character growth made it get boring by the end. Almost all the upgrades were optional except the Biometals themselves, and weren't all that great to begin with. If this turns out to be a ZX 1.25 then I'm not bothering. Still never finished ZX. Fucking lava puzzle!
  19. As a man with 7.2 FULL DAYS worth of music on his hard drive (some from CDs, some from random files, others from other computers), you won't see me go near Vista anytime soon. If I were to copy a file Vista didn't like and it decided to disallow playback in a few years, I would not be happy. For me, this is all that matters. No one's brought up anything that's considered an "improvement" that has been relevant to me. I'm just an average Joe Blow with an above-average music collection.
  20. To be honest, it's enough for me that they're all games featuring a hero named Link. When they're direct sequels, sure, I have no problem with that. However, to try and connect the storyline of the NES games to the Gamecube ones and so on just makes a mess and leaves lots of GAPING HOLES. That said, after I beat Twilight Princess I knew in my heart that there was no way all the games would ever connect in a totally logical way. If Nintendo wants to commission a manga/comic detailing the complete story, then thats one thing (since plot holes can be filled or ignored, accordingly). In fact, they'd probably make some decent money from it. Unfortunately, until they stop making Zelda games like TP and tPH, this has no chance of ever happening. TP's ending didn't even seem to segue well into WW. Granted, it wasn't supposed to be the end of Gannon up until WW because of the whole "dude, where's my hero?" thing, but even so... if you've beaten TP, then you know what I mean. It's a more "final" ending than you'd expect for a villain that's supposed to come back shortly thereafter. Personally, I think Nintendo linked WW and TP to OoT just so people would be more excited about them, not to expand on a central story. Personally, I think the stories of all three of those games were so good that it wouldn't have been a problem if they were all unrelated.
  21. I totally agree. It's not that it's even the "best" Zelda out there so much as it tended to play on my expectations and give me the things, deep down, that I really wanted. I mean, personally, I found Wind Waker's ending to be the most powerful of any Zelda game. It gave more character to Zelda and Gannon than any game before it (and since?). However, Twilight Princess excelled in completely different avenues, and did so more consistantly.
  22. This song has cemented Darangen as one of my favorite remixers. Very few ReMixes immediately impress me as much as this one has. Highly recommended!
  23. Easily one of the more impressive collaborations on the site. I passed this one by for a long time because I'd never played the game (despite owning a Gamecube), only to discover how wrong that was. A must have.
  24. I'm adding this to the list of OC ReMixes that've made me lol. Now, granted, this song has seen some years by now, but I think it truely was Skekkosaurus who was brave, posting a bagpipe salute to ORC. For that, I applaud him. I mean, after all, it's a solid song. The drums and tuba are mixed way too low, though. I'm considering putting this song on my alarm clock.
