  1. This is another of what I term "Transferrence Mixes" owing to the fact that if I'm not careful, I'll forget where I am and start with the serious imagination gig. It really helps the writing process when the music you listen to helps you envision what you want others to see. Now if it could only help me put that vision into words...
  2. For the life of me I can't quite figure out what's going on with this song. I like it, that much is sure. And although I can't quite figure it out, it's fun, it makes me smile, and it's not half bad. Way to go, Wintermute. Keep this up and you'll have one weird fan to add to what I'm sure will someday be an impressive list.
  3. Shouldn't I be, hm, I don't know, running away? That's what my brain is telling me, anyways, but the rest of me seems to think there isn't anything wrong. The long and short of it is, I've already tuned it out, more or less. The original underworld/dungeon theme was easy enough to tune out, and so is this submission. Nice try, though.
  4. There's no way this could be done by System of a Down. It just doesn't have Serj Tankian's vocal style, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I give it 3 out of 5 for being a fun little number that sounds like but isn't SoaD.
  5. Go ahead, mess with my perceptions! I don't CARE! Actually, another nicely-done bit of work by the insane(ly talented) AmIEvil. Never a dull moment in this piece, it keeps you moving. Loop it a few times to get the full effect from it. That's my only gripe: it is much too short, in my opinion. Now, if someone would do a remix of the credits theme...hint hint.
  6. Every time I listen to this, it's like someone's holding my head underwater and I'm hearing my own thoughts blazing by. It's a whole new experience, and an altogether pleasant one. Maybe that first example was a little...off-color, but if there's one thing I can say about this remix, it's that it takes me that much closer to believing that I am, in fact, Link, and it's about to get real dramatic in here. The *good* kind of dramatic.
  7. Hey, I've heard this song (well, not quite THIS song) on VGmusic.com!!! Even so, it's still a great music, but not one I'd want to listen to repeatedly. More like a special occassion thing. Happy dance moments aside, it is a worthy remix, just not a great one.
  8. Right from the start, this piece conjures up images of faeries, knights, and all sorts of fantasy minutae, which is good, as it's a Zelda theme. It is kind of short, but that's a small disappointment when considering just how good this song feels. If you do decide to take a trip with this little addition to AmIEvil's fine repertoire of exceedingly good work, don't forget a toothbrush. Well done, indeed.
  9. Did someone say mini-boss? My all-time hardest minibosses: Culex and Jinx, SMRPG Son of Sun and Mother Brain, Chrono Trigger Those are all I can think of (right now), but I'm sure there are others. Reasons for each on the list (which may or may not grow): Culex is hard because of all those crystals. Each having a different weakness, and a different element, plus Culex's shadow-type magic--I always think of neutral element magic as shadow type--means you almost NEED Princess Peach in your party just to stay in the fight. Jinx is on there because of that damn Silver Bullet. How many times I've lost to that I'll never be able to keep track of. I think it's somewhere around 50 times or something...*AHEM* Son of Sun...This miniboss drives me nuts. Have to find the right spheroid satellite thingy in order to damage it, or you get your ass kicked. Plus it changes the position of the spheres. Mother Brain. Similar name, different concept. And oh, let's not forget that it can recover 999 HP when the monitor heals it, besides the fact that if you take the monitors out, you get smacked with a powerful beam that wipes out half your HP with one blow (just so you're all aware, I've never had more than 500 HP with any character. High defense power is a must). Squaresoft's game designers may be losing their touch, but I'm sure there's still a few annoying yet rewarding sidequests left in their system.
  10. This officially scares the shit out of ME. It's like walking into that abandoned manor, only to find a host of bizarre experiments, or being transported to that alien ship and being awake the entire time. Or like exploring that sunken battlecruiser (actually, since it's entitled 'Surface of the Moon,' crashed star destroyer) and finding out that the crew all died strange, eerie deaths--and you're next if you don't do something about it. All in all, don't listen to on a dark night. On second thought, ONLY listen to on dark nights for fullest creepitude.
  11. Although I said Giygas was the hardest boss, I wasn't thinking. Yeah, he's hard...but how insanely hard can he really be? I beat the game, after all, without even breaking a sweat. So I take it back. Giygas isn't the hardest boss I've ever encountered. Lavos is. Through sheer length of battle, Lavos is the hardest boss I've yet encountered...though this may change I know he's not the hardest boss, but Juno, from Mega Man Legends, is the most annoying. I had nightmares of circling around that bozo shooting at him. Sometimes it's better to have a sidescrolling game than a 3D one...
  12. Hardest boss? Tough call. Me, personally, I'd have to say Giygas, from EarthBound. Not only does his first form have an impenetrable shield that bounces your attacks back at you, but he has all of Ness' powers to boot. And that's just his first form. Then his second form, his attacks have no form that can be understood, so the effect isn't known until the attack hits you. Besides the fact that you have to fight your way past Atomic Power Robots, Ultimate Octobots, and swarms of Ghost of Starman in order to reach him. Thank the makers for the Pray command...
