  1. Permission to do things will never be based on postcount.
  2. Bahamut Lagoon and Rudra no Hihou. Use ZSNES.
  3. I suggested objective tagging in J-disc years ago, but it got put on the backburner I guess. I wouldn't open tagging up to the general populace though; too many people tagging stuff as "AWESOME" or "VIDEO GAME." Plus you'd get rabble-rousers tagging stuff as "shitty techno" and other such nonsense. I think we'd need a dedicated team to--given a set of ground rules--go through the archives and tag everything appropriately, with objective descriptors.
  4. Seriously, I thought more people would be excited about it.
  5. I think it's a hot track with some great performances. I dig the intimate sound and the bassline especially throughout the track has a real sense of momentum. Short but definitely sweet. I LIEK IT YES
  6. No fave threads.
  7. I'm gonna keep this short, but when I listened to this track, I felt like the chord progression w/ solos over it was enough to keep it grounded. There are movements in the chord progression that are characteristic of the source material, and I don't think it's a stretch to count those solo sections as source interpretations. I like this song and I think it should be passed. I will however yes YES CONDITIONAL based on other judges' complaints about clicks and pops. If we can get those fixed I think we're gold.
  8. No. Besides, its a non-profit project. Using a derivative arrangement in an unrelated non-profit game is far from diluting any trademark. Can lawyer's send a C&D? Sure. Would they even bother? Probably not. Don't worry too much about that kind of thing. People use OC ReMixes everywhere even without getting any kind of permission from anyone. All we ask is for people to follow the terms of use.
  9. You shouldn't be wishing death on people just because you don't enjoy them as entertainers. Grow up a little.
  10. Hey Wes, any chance we can try out CTF Convoy?
  11. We already went back and removed all of the actual standards violations during the final lockdown. Standards evolve and the site grows. The bar went higher and higher and it's settled at a comfortable position. "It's not fair" doesn't cut it as an argument. You want us to go back and rejudge everything? That's not fair. Stop whining.
  12. I love the clicky synths in this, they really add a lot. You did a great job of achieving a dreamy texture without resorting to using massive amounts of reverb, which is saying a lot. The progression of the piece is really great; never gets boring, but at the same time the evolution is slow and steady. Nice. YES!
  13. Sorry, that will never happen. http://www.ocremix.org/info/Frequently_Asked_Questions#Why_aren.27t_the_ReMixes_ranked_by_popularity_or_numerical_ratings.3F Although I agree, Broken Mirror Reflection is an awesome mix.
  14. People hate Arena because they don't like sitting out. I know that when I connect to the server, I want to play. I don't want to watch people play. Unless you're an absolutely amazing player, you will invariably have to sit out a few rounds. That's annoying. It's especially annoying when people decide they don't want to cap the point but hunt down that last player who just won't die, thereby extending the round longer than it should be. I don't like Arena; I think the implementation is crappy. Dealing with no respawn is fine, but going whole rounds without even playing? No thanks.
  15. Why do people have to micspam? To have fun? I don't get it; you're already playing a game that features a large Russian man eating a sandwich. How much more fun could you possibly hope to have?
  16. Did they keep the J-pop song or is it in English?
  17. http://belogic.com/uzebox/ Some dude made his own 8-bit console! Features (from the site): Low parts count and cost: The system is made of only two chips and discrete components. Interrupt driven kernel: No cycle counting required, sound mixing and video generation are all made in the background. 256 simultaneous colors: Accomplished by using a R-2R resistor ladder DAC. 4 channels sound engine: The sound subsystem is composed of 3 wavetable channels and 1 LFSR-based noise channel. NES controllers: The joypad inputs uses standard NES controllers interface. MIDI In: With a music sequencer, allows the creation of music directly on the console. Expandable: I/O lines and peripherals are still available, like the UART and SPI port for one to experiment. Open Source: The software and hardware design are totally free and licensed under the GPL! MIDI input rocks. Check out the video he has on the site (it's the second one). I hope people start developing games and stuff for this.
  18. Is this game worth getting a 360 for?
  19. I don't really see that. It's more of just people saying "VGMix is down and that sucks," "Yeah but this is why its down," "Yeah but it still sucks," "OCR should have more VGMix-like tools," "VGMIX IS NOT OCR WIP BOO U CANT REPLACE IT," "Yeah, but it'd still be nice to have VGMix-like tools for artists," "Web 2.0," "Stop fighting you guys!!" "Umm, nobody's fighting anymore."
  20. Sounds interesting; I'd like to request that you use the Alpine assets instead of the Desert stuff if you can.
  21. Shut up. The music that I make by drawing little boxes with my mouse is far better than anyone could ever hope to accomplish by plucking a string or blowing HOT AIR through some fancy tubes.
  22. Yeah that's true, but we're the ones that decide what's too conservative. In this case, some of these are just fine. I am just absolutely bewildered at the direction this thread took. Someone posted about a remix album that's coming out. Why does it have to turn into a thread about the way OCR does shit? This album isn't being produced by OCR, it's not being submitted to OCR, etc. It has nothing to do with the standards and practices that OCR subscribes to, so why is any of this even an issue?! Sometimes I feel like people will take any opportunity they can to criticize this place. It shouldn't have even been brought up, because that's not what this thread was supposed to be about. I'm more interested in finding out who these guys are that did this album. Their site doesn't really have a lot of information.
  23. Tracksounds posted a review of the soundtrack for the new Star Wars game. http://www.tracksounds.com/reviews/the_force_unleashed_mark_griskey.htm They've got all 11 tracks available for streaming. I'm astounded at how consistent these tracks are with the music from the Original Trilogy. Juno Eclipse's theme especially sounds right at home next to the classic romantic themes like Princess Leia, Han Solo and the Princess, and Luke and Leia. Give it a listen!
